Canย I just ask if our Alice Springs game v lions is a home game for us?

Also given how covid has stopped so many in melb last year seeing live footy...why play up there ?

Yes it is and we play well there. I don't think the Lions have played there very often so I reckon that gives us an advantage.

Martin caught twice tonight when attempting the fend off. Could this be signs of the beginning of the end for the Dusty and Richmond dynasty?

was thinking the very same thing. the explosive power not quite there for him tonight.

Mathieson....... no integrity, no honesty, just a disgusting fraud and a cheat. What must it feel like to be as low a human being as that cheat ??

Mathieson needs to be added to the list of punchable heads. ?

I'm pretty sure he's been high on the list ever since he was first seen at AFL level

Reckon Brisbane players have worked out how to tackle him. Donโ€™t go for the waist but raise both arms and come down on him from above.ย

Im sure it is and we are financially compensated for it.

I would be keen if mods could do a survey on if this is a goodย idea.

Especially after Goody wants it to be fortress Mcg. Its contrary to this view.

Also its not like a trip to Sydney or Canberra. Its a fair distance.

Given we play eight away games including kardinia but not the ones at marvel( whick is the mist for vic clubs)... im wondering if we just forgo the $ or whatever and keep our eyes on the ultimate prize...a flag.

Oh no a 2 hour flight. Toughen up princess, the game in Alice is brilliantย

Marlon Picket throws it out of a pack at every opportunity.

Castagna gets clearly tackled high.

BT: โ€œRioliย wrapped up in a good tackle!โ€

Deever, you really do have to look at a map. As the crow flies it's not much different to flying to Brisbane.

Wonder why Riewoldt didnโ€™t wander down and have a chat to that stain Mathieson.ย

Must of missed it, ย what did he do?

Kicked a goal then mimed ripping the shirt open like superman and stuck the forehead and his massive underbite into Baker.ย

Friggin maggots not a clue about playing footy - no way was that a deliberate OOB - the guy was pulled out of balance as he kicked it.ย

Probably a stupid question but what are the AFL instructing the umpires to do? 3 tackles in the lead up to that Brisbane goal wereย stone cold holding the ball/incorrect disposal! If you have prior opportunity and incorrectly dispose of it, it doesn't matter if you make an attempt!

If the umpires are being instructed to do this, it's a disgrace. If they aren't, then the umpires are disgracefully enforcing (or not enforcing) the rules of the game.ย

Brisbane are an ugly team that are going to be hard to beat.

Tigers just arenโ€™t that good this year...

... and they sook when they lose.

Commentators declare high shot is worth a fine. MRP take note (and it's Richmond $1k should do)

Well the thingย about it was it was a double tap, he copped a hard (deliberate) forearm, and then he came through with the other hand across the face. I think it will end up being a fine, but it's typical dirty tactics from these thugs.

  • PREVIEW: Hawthorn

Hawthorn and Melbourne. Two teams with impressive form from last week but with seasons that are travelling on different trajectories meet in Saturdayโ€™s twilight game for what could well be the most intriguing contest of the AFLโ€™s penultimate round. Sadly, the game has been relegated to that unappealing time slot in the weekend when Melburnians are typically preoccupied with activities other than football. It falls between the morning's shopping, afternoon sport and recreation, and Saturday night fever. A time usually reserved for relatively insignificant events but this one is not a nothingburger for either of the clubs or their fans.

  • REPORT: Western Bulldogs

The next coach of the Melbourne Football Club faces the challenge of teaching his players how to win games against all comers. At times during this tumultuous season, that task has seemed daunting, made more so in light of the surprise news last week of the sacking of premiership coach Simon Goodwin. However, there were also some positive signs from yesterdayโ€™s match against the Western Bulldogs that the challenge may not be as difficult as one might think. The two sides presented a genuine football spectacle, featuring pulsating competitive play with eight lead changes throughout the afternoon, in a display befitting a finals match. The result could have gone either way and in the end, it came down to which team could produce the most desperate of acts to provide a winning result. It was the Bulldogs who had their season on the line that won out by a six point margin that fitted the game and the effort of both sides.

  • CASEY: Brisbane

The rain had been falling heavily in south east Queensland when the match began at Springfield, west of Brisbane. The teams exchanged early goals and then the Casey Demons proceeded like a house on fire in the penultimate game of the VFL season against a strong opponent in the Brisbane Lions. Sparked by strong play around the ground by seasoned players in Charlie Spargo and Jack Billings, a strong effort from Bailey Laurie and promising work from youngsters in Kynan Brown andย  Koltyn Tholstrup, the Demons with multiple goal kickers firing, raced to a 27 point lead late in the opening stanza. A highlight was a wonderful goal from Laurie who brilliantly sidestepped two opponents and kicked beautifully from 45 metres out.
