sorta wanted a place we can all dump some potential names of interest across the competition to strengthen the side. just been spitballing in my head came up with a couple:

a small forward who tackles AND kicks goals, got McDonald-Tippungwuti front of the queue with 1 yr to go on his current deal, could be gettable given the two sides trajectories

wingman: either of whitfield or jkelly not sure about the getability tho especially with the money jelly is tied on and whitfields length of deal but maybe one might fall out to accomodate the other

half back: recently learnt jordon dawson was OOC and it caught my attention. might keep an eye on how he plays next couple weeks just see what he's like as a mature HB option we could look at. also eddy rich at the dogs has had some clubs ask the question and would suit a need but maybe less proven at the level to date

half forward: lipinski, too good to play vfl but at full strength seems to be on the fringes at the doggies so they can fit 12 mids in, certainly an improvement on melky in terms of touches and delivery but mayve less scoreboard impact, could also see harmes move to this role when all our side is availabvle.

I wrote in one another thread a few weeks back to watch this space. Very good chance Lipinski will be at the Dees in 2021.

Having a talented list and performing strongly should make us an appealing destination for both young players wanting to return to Victoria and older players seeking a flag before retirement. On the latter, I wonder if we could convince Ziebell to come across at below market rates. He's a free agent I would suspect North might be happy to accept a 2nd round compensation pick (around pick 20) for a 30yr old that won't feature in their next finals team.

We should pick up Brodie Kemp from Carlton, he is 20 yr old. This kid will be another Cripps.

i doubt very much that, having taken two years to rebuild him, carlton would be prepared to let him go

We’d be unstoppable. Would remind me of when KD went to the Warriors.

Biggest issue be retaining who we’ve got. Spent plenty keeping pies away from Trac.
Develop our own and astute drafting.  If someone falls into our lap for unders, so be it.

I'm just bumping this comment so everyone can see it in all it's glory for a second time. A thing of beauty. It has everything, complete unknown quantity, has never played a game, history of long term leg troubles, coming from a mid ranged club, 20 years old, comparison to a club champ. It's a future browlow medalist prediction away from being hall of fame.

To be fair Rigatoni plenty of BS (big statements) are made on Demonland. You learn to let them pass...

What makes you think that?

I like Kane Farrell from Port. Gettable. Good kick, classy user. Don’t know if he’d transition to a wingman, but he’d add something different to our side regardless. Would be a best 22 player.

Would be nice to raid a few of the power clubs who've spent years raiding the MFC, anyone at the Pies or Hawks sick of losing?

Heard some rumours Brayden Maynard might be unhappy at the Pies. I hope we are into him. Would be a great lockdown defender, super competitive and excellent kick. No idea on contract status though.

A quick google says Maynard will be a free agent at the end of 2022. Would Collingwood consider trading him a year early?

Ed Richards and Lipinski are also worth a look IMO.

Know it's not exactly a player trade target, but could we be aggressive to move into the top 10 of the draft this year? Perhaps trade a 2nd rounder and a future 1st and target the best available outside midfielder?

I know people say all the time "I have a close source" but I honestly know someone close to Pat & the last time I asked the question both parties were very keen...

Melbourne supporter, old man works for Casey Demons and is very close with Petracca.

He would be an awesome replacement for Hibberd.

And again, Maynard's inclusion would allow us to release Rivers to a wing or into a genuine mid role.

We should be doing this every year, so that if possible, we're bringing in top end talent and giving Jason Taylor a look in the first round every year.

Disagree it should be about necessarily targeting an outside mid. I think it should almost always be a case of picking best available.

Not just his father Peter, but his brother Corey as well.  Would welcome Brayden to the fold.

I had no inside knowledge but have been pushing this for a while now.

Pies will need to get in a good draft position and Maynard is one of the few chips they have.

He would be perfect fit in our defence.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Richmond

Round four kicks off early Saturday afternoon at Casey Fields, as the mighty Narrm host the winless Richmond Tigers in the second week of Indigenous Round celebrations. With ideal footy conditions forecast—20 degrees, overcast skies, and a gentle breeze — expect a fast-paced contest. Narrm enters with momentum and a dangerous forward line, while Richmond is still searching for its first win. With key injuries on both sides and pride on the line, this clash promises plenty.

  • AFLW REPORT: Collingwood

Expectations of a comfortable win for Narrm at Victoria Park quickly evaporated as the match turned into a tense nail-biter. After a confident start by the Demons, the Pies piled on pressure and forced red and blue supporters to hold their collective breath until after the final siren. In a frenetic, physical contest, it was Captain Kate’s clutch last quarter goal and a missed shot from Collingwood’s Grace Campbell after the siren which sealed a thrilling 4-point win. Finally, Narrm supporters could breathe easy.

  • CASEY: Williamstown

The Casey Demons issued a strong statement to the remaining teams in the VFL race with a thumping 76-point victory in their Elimination Final against Williamstown. This was the sixth consecutive win for the Demons, who stormed into the finals from a long way back with scalps including two of the teams still in flag contention. Senior Coach Taylor Whitford would have been delighted with the manner in which his team opened its finals campaign with high impact after securing the lead early in the game when Jai Culley delivered a precise pass to a lead from Noah Yze, who scored his first of seven straight goals for the day. Yze kicked his second on the quarter time siren, by which time the Demons were already in control. The youngster repeated the dose in the second term as the Seagulls were reduced to mere

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Collingwood

Narrm time isn’t a standard concept—it’s the time within the traditional lands of Narrm, the Woiwurrung name for Melbourne. Indigenous Round runs for rounds 3 and 4 and is a powerful platform to recognise the contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in sport, community, and Australian culture. This week, suburban footy returns to the infamous Victoria Park as the mighty Narrm take on the Collingwood Magpies at 1:05pm Narrm time, Sunday 31 August. Come along if you can.

  • AFLW REPORT: St. Kilda

The Dees demolished the Saints in a comprehensive 74-pointshellacking.  We filled our boots with percentage — now a whopping 520.7% — and sit atop the AFLW ladder. Melbourne’s game plan is on fire, and the competition is officially on notice.

  • REPORT: Collingwood

It was yet another disappointing outcome in a disappointing year, with Melbourne missing the finals for the second consecutive season. Indeed, it wasn’t even close, as the Demons' tally of seven wins was less than half the number required to rank among the top eight teams in the competition. When the dust of the game settled and supporters reflected on Melbourne's  six-point defeat at the hands of close game specialists Collingwood, Max Gawn's words about his team’s unfulfilled potential rang true … well, almost.
