Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Cant Sw or Tmac help in the ruck?

They could. but i think Daw is comfortably better in the ruck than either.  and the real big plus Jackson was bringing to the team was his work in the ruck and stoppages. i think we lose a little bit in the midfield where we need it taking that option.

I won't be unhappy if we go with Weid. but my preference would be Daw based on trying to cover what we've lost.

Agreed, which is why i prefer Daw. we lost the clearances drastically last week, but we've had no issues kicking a winning score. i'd rather sure up the midfield than the forward line at this stage, but that's just me.

if weid gets a go it'll be really exciting to see the 3 headed monster in action at the G

Daw in this instance.  Allows Big M to play a forward role much of the time covering for LJ up forward.

LJ is pretty good at getting to the contest, bringing the ball to ground and at ground level.  I think Max does similar, especially ground level, quite well.

Weid is a decent mark/kick forward but not so good in the ruck and very ordinary at ground level (so far).  Plus risking him with a fair chunk of game time in the ruck is probably not a great idea as I'd rather see him kept in cotton wool and ready to go as a replacement forward should either of Tmac or BB be injured or need to be managed at some point during such a long season.

If they don't bring Weideman in now they may as well offer him up in the mid season draft

No way Daw gets a run. He has not proven himself in the ruck. He has also not proven himself up forward.  This over 11 seasons

weed should come in. If not sparrow or chandler

Has to be Weid in for Jackson, as good a time as any to see over the next 2 weeks if 3 genuine tall fwds is better than 2 and a resting ruck. If all 3 fire and Gawn is still as effective round the ground then on balance it might be a better mix, thing is we won’t know till we try.

Well done mate.

Yep, never doubted it. Yoko is always on the money.

Weideman in for Jackson. I wonder if we'll make any other changes. I'd say not.

Wish my news was of a more positive nature though.

Will try and find out more, but I believe Weed will come in and both he and TMac will have stints in the ruck.

I get the like for like logic of bringing Daw in but if we can integrate the Weid and find a role for him we will be a much stronger team. He offers much more than Daw.

It's positive for me.

It's nothing against Jackson at all and I'm his number 1 fan!

But the Weideman, McDonald and Brown trio is a seriously tantalising prospect to watch.

Jackson can have a couple of weeks rest and refresh ready for a big 2nd half.

weid and bowey in

LJ and hunt out

ANB improved on his 0 tackles v north to 8 v sydney which was awesome to see but i find myself naming the same two "whipping boys" as having returned to previous form as the season progresses after a purple month to begin with

Throw in Kozzie and Fritsch and i can't think of a more potent forward line. it's genuinely scary to think a player of Fritsch quality could get the 4th defender.

Whoever suggested Bowey in is clearly a lad insane.

Carlton-supporting acquaintance reckons Cripps won't play.  Given his recent form, I'm not sure whether that would be a good thing or a bad thing for us.

based on what? unless he's done an acl in the last two hours i'd say there is a chance he could be picked. we should feel comfortable enough in our system and form that if players warrant selection we can reward them and if players get complacent in the side we can put them on notice

With Jackson's injury it will make for an interesting selection night.

Personally I would bring Weideman in for Jackson and look at rotating both Weideman and Tmac into the ruck as the game requires. We get a chance to mix and match the forward talls to see if we can get advantageous match ups. I like the flexibility we have had with Jackson in the middle and think that with Weid will have similar flexibility but it will be different because of the different mix of skill sets.

Sparrow in for Melksham for me. nothing wrong with Melk but I just think Sparrow will bring more pressure to the contest then what Melksham does. I also think that with Fritsch we have a better version of Melksham. I am one that looks at the possible midfield rotations in a team and like to see more rather than less.

Based on that he has done nothing at VFL level to suggest he is ready for the AFL.  Hunts speed and pressure bring so much more to the team than what Bowey can.

Don't kid yourselves, LJ is a big out.  He offers us versatility that neither Maj or Weid have on the ground, in the ruck (Weid) and up forward (Weid at ground level...Maj would rarely go there if played anyway imv and instead would likely play a major role in the ruck allowing Big M to play mostly forward to cover LJ).

Sure we probably aren't taking a huge step backwards as we have reasonable coverage coming in, at least in the next few weeks against lessor rated oppo.  But the sooner he gets back the better.

    TRAINING: Friday 19th April 2024

They are out for a run just as it starts raining. It didn't last long, ended up a reasonable session weather wise.  Light duties, BBB, rehab Farris-White, Melky, Salem and Spargo, all with private trainers. They are all playing soccer, huge amount of noise. 36-40 (difficult to get a count) in the main squad, biggest I've seen it in ages. Choco is barking out the orders. Goody has intense body language as he observes. Bowey in a lime green cap (no contact), and in the sim

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
