Ridiculous isn't it? It would literally take 15 minutes for someone to whack together a matrix of what colours the umpires should wear in each combination of teams to avoid clashes.

Or they could always just wear that green uniform they have, seeing as there aren't any clubs with a green uniform.

This seems like the easiest problem ever to solve.

I agree-N. GREEN UNIFORM FOR UMPIRES. No AFL side wears green. SIMPLE SOLUTION. Just do it AFL.

Done!

Apologies

Doggies making Carlton look good. They won’t be getting this kind of space against us next week.

A Carlton win is great for us. Obviously puts 2 games between us and the chasing pack. But also much better to play Carlson when they have high expectations as they usually flop when that’s the case.

I hate Carlscum. Hope the doggies can bury them in 2nd half. Won't happen though. The thaught of losing our first game to them fills me with dread. If they beat the dogs watch the media jump all over their bandwagon for the game next week.

Had my doubts about McKay but he's really starting to look the goods

Yep. Him and Walsh are the ones you have to watch.

betts goes ok still

“Treloar slams the door shut”

- Brian Taylor in reference to a Doggies goal that brings them within 19 pts (as opposed to kicking the sealer) Geez BT says some strange things.

Carna Blues!

Gee Carlton will have there confidence up next week.

May would surely have to take McKay next week.

Hibbard take betts next week?

Lions have started well.

I think Smith from the bulldogs is too worried about his hair than getting the ball.

I understand what you mean, and I do sort of want them to win. It would be great to be 2 games clear. But I hate reading that, could never say it out loud, and just can't type it. I was in the Carlton zone as a kid and teenager when the Dees were winning wooden spoons and the Blues winning Flags. I despise them with a passion.

WOW!! Two games and percentage clear on top at the moment and three games and percentage clear of fourth.

Carlton will be extra tired after this one. On the fast track vs Doggies

We also get an extra day preparation, and to analyse them at the game.

You would imagine, some of our coaches are there.

Genuinely worried about McKay next week. He’s got 10cm on May and in great form.

As part of the effort to trim the runtime of the regular podcast, we’ve been looking at which segments could be reshaped without losing what makes them valuable. One segment that naturally came into focus was Binman’s Stats Files. Not because it isn’t important; quite the opposite. It’s become such a substantial and much-loved part of the show that it deserves a little room to breathe.

  • REPORT: St. Kilda

One of the big stories of the AFL off-season was the spending spree of Melbourne’s Round 1 opponent, St Kilda. They splashed out heavily, first to retain Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera - the hero of last year’s epic come-from-behind miracle victory -turning him into a $2 million man. They then effectively took out an expensive overdraft to recruit a string of expensive players from other clubs. It was a risky investment strategy and, although it’s still early days, it certainly failed to pay off in Sunday’s season opener, with much of the glitter turning to fool’s gold.
