Shouldn’t they Still have to isolate for 14 days. Haven’t returned travelers tested negative on day 1 or 2 then positive later on. Some even on day 11. Protocols seem different for every situation.

Might be considered a low risk site. Who knows. ?‍♀️

Given the Roosters (NRL) were also in the same cafe, I'm sure our game will still go ahead fine. The NSW gov't and the NRL will do whatever they can to continue on as normal, so it'll look weak on the AFLs part if they don't go ahead as normal. Not saying I agree with any of that, but it's how it will play out.

The problem would be if Victoria declares Sydney a 'red zone' and anyone who has been there since  (insert a date) goes into quarantine if they come to Victoria.

The AFL has been pretty good at negotiating exceptions with the Vic government eg allowing North back from WA.  So I don't think it is up to them.  The Vic government is the key.

This is only the case for close contacts.

Maybe Sydney supporters not allowed into the ground same as WC supporters were not allowed to attend Geelong game?

Sydney Swans coach John Longmire and his assistants are awaiting the result of COVID-19 tests after visiting a Moore Park cafe on Monday in the same timeframe as a man who was infectious with the virus.

It comes as players and staff from the Sydney Roosters were also sent for testing, putting this weekend’s AFL and NRL fixtures on a knife’s edge.

God...what are the chances of that...?!!

Media reporting that Swans might have to stay in Vic longer then planned..  Seems, the game on Sat proceeds as normal but Swans might be stuck in Vic after depending on what happens with the outbreak in NSW.

He must have found what he was looking for though.... wasn't the last shop a butcher ?

Covid can go [censored] itself. Actually it does self-replicate so it even has that covered!

Moore Park is where the SCG is located.

Hope he managed to get his BBQ at least. He made it to the Mascot BP for a gas bottle and the Bondi meat shop afterwards, so I'm feeling pretty good for him.

Worst barbie he’s ever had, couldn’t taste any of it.

Not that low, they were getting coffee not Afghan rugs.

Best get some covid test kits, they come in packs of 24, although packs of 6 are available. They work best at low temperatures so keep refrigerated for best results. Take a couple and let me know if you can taste the contents. Best not to test too many in a single sitting as the tests all seem to come back as false positives.

It’s been reported in Sydney that some of the coaches were at same cafe same day... hold onto your hats

I dare say this might affect the Cats also as the contact was before their game

Supporters won’t be allowed to come I’d say

The Lions Freo game is not the same.

Here we have a person out and about for a few days across Eastern Sydney with what is reported as being a high viral load.

Not everyone uses the Service NSW QR system, so there may be a few not traceable.

None of that is paranoia, it's a statement of fact.

Given the incubation period we don't know what the risk is of Sydney players or support staff potentially being caught out.

This next comment is not directed at you so please don't take it like that: it's probably best we don't shoot from the hip regarding the risk around this in relation to the epidemiology. It's obvious some commenters (and this doesn't just relate to DL) view all of this as paranoia and overkill, but it's worth remembering things can get out of hand very quickly.

And traces were found in the sewage in Sydney’s Inner West (where I live)... I imagine a few Swans players may also live in the area.

MFCSS alert .....

  1. Demons looking really good, possibly even real chance to win the flag.
  2. Covid goes crazy.
  3. 2021 season abandoned ...

I called it weeks ago.   Not bragging, its pretty obvious its going to happen and we are a tortured club for eternity.

Brora Rangers who play in the Highland League in Scotland have just been awarded the league title on goal difference from my home town team Fraserburgh (grrrr) despite having played just three games of a thirty four game season.

Should covid derail the AFL season again then we should be afforded the same courtesy. ?

I beat you to it, Rab (11.40am) but you provide the solid precedence!

And we all know how much regard the AFL takes of precedence...

p.s. You're all wearing out my 'Haha' finger - from adversity, great humour?

  • PREVIEW: Port Adelaide

With both sides precariously positioned ahead of the run home to the finals, only one team involved in Sunday’s clash at the Adelaide Oval between the Power and the Demons will remain a contender when it’s over.  On current form, that one team has to be Melbourne which narrowly missed out on defeating the competition’s power house Collingwood on King's Birthday and also recently overpowered both 2024 Grand Finalists. Conversely, Port Adelaide snapped out of a four-game losing streak with a win against the Giants in Canberra. Although they will be rejuvenated following that victory, their performances during that run of losses were sub par and resulted in some embarrassing blow out defeats.

  • REPORT: Collingwood

The media focus on the fiery interaction between Max Gawn and Steven May at the end of the game was unfortunate because it took away the gloss from Melbourne’s performance in winning almost everywhere but on the scoreboard in its Kings Birthday clash with Collingwood at the MCG. It was a real battle reminiscent of the good old days when the rivalry between the two clubs was at its height and a fitting contest to celebrate the 2025 Australian of the Year, Neale Daniher and his superb work to bring the campaign to raise funds for motor neurone disease awareness to the forefront. Notwithstanding the fact that the Magpies snatched a one point victory from his old club, Daniher would be proud of the fact that his Demons fought tooth and nail to win the keenly contested game in front of 77,761 fans.

  • PREGAME: Port Adelaide

The Demons are set to embark on a four-week road trip that takes them across the country, with two games in Adelaide and a clash on the Gold Coast, broken up by a mid-season bye. Next up is a meeting with the inconsistent Port Adelaide at Adelaide Oval. Who comes in and who goes out?

  • POSTGAME: Collingwood

Despite effectively playing against four extra opponents, the Dees controlled much of the match. However, their inaccuracy in front of goal and inability to convert dominance in clearances and inside 50s ultimately cost them dearly, falling to a heartbreaking one-point loss on King’s Birthday.
