If it goes ahead will we be able to attend?

I am living abroad. The covid case is in Sydney, so why is there a chance the game won't go ahead?

A lot of Swans live in the Eastern suburbs of Sydney, so I suspect they all will be tested. Real risk if the area is declared a red zone.

Hopefully, if they haven’t been already, they’ll (Swans players and crew) be tested and head down to Melbourne asap.

The game will most likely go ahead. Sydney players and officials will no doubt be tested.

The big question is whether the Victorian government will (a) allow Sydney player and officials into Victoria from a red zone (if declared, which is likely given past history) and (b) if Sydney is exempt and can enter will the Victorian government allow a crowd to attend?

Not a returning traveller or hotel quarantine worker. Means he's picked it up in the community. NSW have been the best at managing these spot fires, tracing contacts effectively and adopting proportionate public policies. We'll have to see what contact tracing uncovers but he's been out an about for 5 days or so. Fingers crossed this outbreak hasn't spread too far and can be contained. We'll just have to wait and see.

Clearly we need to ensure no Sydney based fans attend the game

Yes if they all pass i wouldn't be surprised if they are all here by lunch time tomorrow.  The risks of staying longer are too high.

The AFL should be getting the Swans players tested and on a plan ASAP before anything changes between the Melbourne and Sydney restrictions. As for crowd, surely if they’re tested and come back negative no need to worry about no crowd.

If the Swans can't come they should forfeit the 4 points.  ?

That's what should have happened to Essendon last year.

I cant imagine it being treated differently than Brisbane when they had their cases earlier in the year.

Brisbane were already in Melbourne if I recall correctly.

Even if they do jump on a plane early and come into Melbourne, the Vic Govt can issue retrospective advice for individuals that have arrived from Sydney. Given the high profile of the Swannies and the WA precedent, my gut feel is that there is a very likely chance this game will go ahead without any crowds.

Yeah I think you are right. And WCE had chartered a flight over to Victoria before their case was discovered, right?

A questionnaire to be completed at every turnstyle by all Swan supporters. Fail, and there's no admittance.

Q1. What numbers did Stuwie Gull wear at South and at the Deez?

Q2. How many goals did you lose by in the 1987 semi final?

Q3. What was the free-kick imbalance in your favour in the 1990 round six game at the SCG which you won by a goal?

Q4. On a scale of 1 to 1,000,000,000,000,000, how grateful are you that Brasso saved your sweet backsides in 1993?

Q5. Could you please outline in an essay of no less that 1,000 words, where the estimated $350,000,000 has gone that's been shovelled into your club over 30 years?

Unlike the WA situation where there were local cases there are no local cases in Melbourne.  Sure maybe no fans down from Sydney but no (logical) reason to have no fans attend.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
