Baker 15 disposals and 4 tackles, not bad either.

I thought Baker played fairly well. His pace was quite noticeable but in particular, I liked to the way, once or twice, he used that pace to increase his mass, charging through a forming pack to get the ball and, due to that paced approach, was largely unstoppable by the North opposition. Courageious, yes; effective, certainly.

HIs ball disposal when passing forward was good to very good; low, fast, accurate and covered good distance so his eyes were up and his intent subtley masked.

A better effort from him - that's for sure.

North have now played 4 of the top 5 sides - Geelong, Port, Western Bulldogs and Us - plus Adelaide when they were good and Freo at Freo and Suns on the Gold Coast. They are probably a way better side than they are being credit for and must be more than a sneaky chance to roll the Pies next week. And how good would that be!

Not according to the laws of physics as I understand them.

Their next month sees them playing 17th, 16th, 15th and 14th on the ladder, so now is their best chance to snag a win, they barely have a list to chose from though...

Read again....increasing the speed of a moving body (that has a certain mass) sees that mass increase proportionately.

Invariant mass no it doesn't, relativistic mass yes it can.

I wonder if the North players saw how relaxed/casual we were on the plan and used it as motivation? Pure conjecture on my part but I was thinking it during the game, even if nothing in it would be easy for Cunnington/Ziebell etc to say "look at them, they reckon they're in for a walk in the park, games already won" etc

I just think its very hard to turn on the high pressure for every game. You have to win a few games when you are only running at 80-90%. We don't need to bank the percentage when you are already at 150%. We turned it on in the second half and clearly came away with the chocolates.

Given the significance of Sat night games against the Swans i would expect a return to what we have seen in the first 6 rounds.

The other thing to not lose sight of is that sitting at #1 on the ladder, opposition teams will bring an extra level of intensity to try to knock off the top team. No easy games for us.

I’m so glad we had that game against North.  Any other team would have ripped us apart.

Worst game by Gawn for such a long time.  Thrashed in the middle, dropped marks, fumbled and was way down in terms of impact.  Hopefully that’s his off week for the year. Many others simply down and didnt go hard enough early. ANB, Hunt to name a few invisibles.

Baker kicks hospital balls rather than passes - they always go high and hang.  Not a useful skill or style.

Jackson, Pickett, Jordon, Rivers were all highly valuable.  A future is built from these guys.

Fritsch 6 - awesome effort, benefited from a sideshow sidekick taking more heat in the 50, plus he kicked straight!  Think he gets at worst a fine for the errant elbow.

Brown will only get better, I thought he applied pressure and drew defenders, so did his job.  His bag will come.

A good example of getting out of trouble, and of a team that wins ugly when it has nothing else.  Not a great standard, but having them only kick 2 in the second half (as opposed to 9 in the first) was a demonstration that we got back to our ‘knitting’.

Bag the 4 points, enjoy being a game clear on top, and reset for the ducks of Saturday night.

I think you are getting mass and momentum mixed up. P=mv. Mass doesn't change.

Oh my word!

First, people with no idea of maths lecturing on percentage, now somone with no idea of physics.  It's momentum you're looking for. Baker's momentum increases with his velocity.  His mass stays constant.

Interesting. They gave Geelong a scare too.

Definitely can see them beating the Collingwood Allstars next week.

The team should not fly to the venue on the morning of the match. Flights seem to suck the life out of the players!

Didn't both teams fly down and back on the same flight? If so it shouldn't have made any difference...

The 'bye' really tested us this week and we were a bit lucky to get away with 4 points.

I am sceptical about Ben Brown and his role. I think Brown needs to average 3.5 goals a game to justify his inclusion. He should find more space on the MCG, but he needs to get on his bike and be more mobile.

The inclusion of Baker was strange and I would have 10 in front of him.

Jackson and Pickett were awesome and we have really nailed those picks.

Petracca's set shots are a concern.

Fritsch was exceptional.

North were much better in the first half in the contest and we were lucky we were efficient with our entries. (We only had to win either the contest or be efficient to beat them.)

So he needs to kick more goals than any forward since Kennedy in 2016 (80 goals) to be best 22?  Pretty high bar to set mate.

The value in any key forward is the goals they create as much as the goals they kick. All he needs to do is bring the ball to ground, kick his 2-3 each week, and not be a complete liability defensively.

On another note, pretty sure Fritsch is only the 3rd Demon since Neitz to kick 6 in a game (after Hogan and TMac). Sheesh.

Here is the issue though. He is a complete defensive liability.

HEAVEN OR HELL by The Oracle

Clashes between Melbourne and St Kilda are often described as battles between the forces of heaven and hell. However, based on recent performances, it’s hard to get excited about the forthcoming match between these two sides. It would be fair to say that, at the moment, both of these teams are in the doldrums. The Demons have become the competition’s slow starters while the Saints are not only slow to begin, they’re not doing much of a job finishing off their games either. About the only th

    THE BLOW by Whispering Jack

Narrm’s finals prospects took a crushing blow after the team’s insipid performance at Optus Stadium against a confident Waaljit Marawar in the first of its Doug Nicholls Round outings for 2024.  I use the description “crushing blow” advisedly because, although the season is not yet at it’s halfway mark, the Demons have now failed abysmally in two of their games against teams currently occupying bottom eight places on the ladder.  The manner in which these losing games were played out w

HALF FULL by KC from Casey

It was a case of the Casey Demons going into a game with a glass half full in their match up against the Brisbane Lions at Casey Fields on Saturday. As the list of injured and unavailable AFL and VFL listed players continues to grow and with Melbourne taking all three emergencies to Perth for the weekend on a “just in case” basis, its little brother was always destined to struggle. Casey was left with only eight AFL listed players from who to select their team but only two - an out-of-form

Many warned that this was a danger game and the Demons were totally outclassed all game by a young Eagles team at Optus Stadium in Perth as they were defeated by 35 points.

GAMEDAY: Rd 10 vs West Coast

It's Game Day and the Demons have returned to the site of their drought breaking Premiership to take on the West Coast Eagles in what could very well be a danger game for Narrm at Optus Stadium. A win and a percentage boost will keep the Dees in top four contention whilst a loss will cast doubt on the Dees flag credentials and bring them back to the pack fighting for a spot in the 8 as we fast approach the halfway point of the season.

    WARNING by William from Waalitj

As a long term resident of Waalitj Marawar, I am moved to warn my fellow Narrm fans that a  danger game awaits. The locals are no longer the easybeats who stumbled, fumbled and bumbled their way to the good fortune of gathering the number one draft pick and a generational player in Harley Reid last year. They are definitely better than they were then.   Young Harley has already proven his worth with some stellar performances for a first year kid playing among men. He’s taken hangers, k
