I don't understand your question.  To try and assist you, the figure of $900 k came from Ch7 report.

I'm just telling you that it is significantly more than that.

Adonski, you are one of about 5 other Posters that displayed some level of doubt about my original post along with HardTack, Rod Grinter Squad, CHF and Robbie57.

I never quite understand why other Posters express that type of doubt/negativity.  Is it envy or a feeling of inadequacy that some posters just have NO level of inside contacts?

GoodW, just to be clear, I did not question your original post. I am sure that we have put an offer to Petracca. I was just asking if anyone had asked Judd's Granny, that guru of all information on Trading and Contract, if He had signed as yet.

I'm sure there is no coincidence that Christian was not sighted on AFL 360 tonight - me thinks....

Well done on your scoop and I look forward to more good ones from you in the future.

Don't be put off by the negative nellies, plenty of us love reading scoops, even if they don't all come true.

My guess is that it has a base which could well be $900k and then a % of total player payments.

Makes sense as no one really knows where the salary cap is going in the next 3-5 years.

Not generally in favour of more than four years but this one makes sense.

I’m a big hater of long term deals. But sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do. I just hope we are being cautious with the money so we don’t force ourselves into having to dump players ala Collingwood, or worse not be able to sign some other star players down the track.
Our track record with list management recently has been great tho, so I trust us not to stuff this one up.
Trac is a star and 7 years is not a big risk. He will still be a good serviceable player at 33.

Tom Morris just tweeted that the announcement of the contract extension could happen as early as Wednesday (which I presume he means tomorrow)

Melbourne’s new $6 million man Christian Petracca signs on for life

Melbourne will announce Christian Petracca’s mammoth contract extension as early as Wednesday.

Foxfooty.com.au has confirmed Channel 7’s report, which revealed the Demons star would shun rival clubs to pen a long-term extension.

The Demons were planning on making the good news public on Wednesday.

THIS IS INCREDIBLE!!! Sorry, I'm @picket fence level excited.

I knew, and posted a while back? or at least mentioned to @A F that Trac was chatting to the club about an extension, but i had no idea it was of this size/scope. i thought it was 2 more years on top of next year.

this is incredible, what a show of faith by Trac

I like this quote from the article @dazzledavey36 posted 'Petracca was committed to staying on a long-term arrangement and did not want to eek out every last dollar from Melbourne to the detriment of his teammates.'

Makes me wonder now what happens to someone like a Sam Weideman?

I'm crying!

He's a lifer. Just like us!

Go Trac!

Outside of Paul Roos, it's hard to think o a more significant re-signing or signing for this club in the last i don't even know how long. i'm speechless.

This unity is what brings premierships...I’m really starting to believe that 2021 could be our year. Internal belief by players with such huge value on the open market speaks volumes of our club. I’ve doubted Goodwin as recent as last year but the important players have the belief in him...I love you Tracc

The Oliver signing was significant as well, given we heard he wasn’t a happy camper last year. To lose him would be as damaging to our flag hopes as losing Trac would.

Surely they have kept some cash aside for Weeds...

How good is this??

This is the kind of signing that keeps the recent snowball of significant signings rolling and growing faster and faster!

Extend Kossie, LJ & guys like Rivers, Lever & S. May even further than they are signed for already and a new Demon Dynasty can be born!

Go Dees!

I agree, but i think for me to have someone like Trac decide at 25 or whatever he is that he wants to be a Demon for life, it'll be incredible for the club. says a lot about Goody too, i've not rated him much, but if Trac is signing a deal like that, he clearly does, and he'd know a bit more

Now we just need to re-sign Oliver ;)

Resigned last week! ?

  • REPORT: Port Adelaide

Of course, it’s not the backline, you might argue and you would probably be right. It’s the boot studder (do they still have them?), the midfield, the recruiting staff, the forward line, the kicking coach, the Board, the interchange bench, the supporters, the folk at Casey, the head coach and the club psychologist  It’s all of them and all of us for having expectations that were sufficiently high to have believed three weeks ago that a restoration of the Melbourne team to a position where we might still be in contention for a finals berth when the time for the midseason bye arrived. Now let’s look at what happened over the period of time since Melbourne overwhelmed the Sydney Swans at the MCG in late May when it kicked 8.2 to 5.3 in the final quarter (and that was after scoring 3.8 to two straight goals in the second term).

  • CASEY: Essendon

Casey’s unbeaten run was extended for at least another fortnight after the Demons overran a persistent Essendon line up by 29 points at ETU Stadium in Port Melbourne last night. After conceding the first goal of the evening, Casey went on a scoring spree from about ten minutes in, with five unanswered majors with its fleet of midsized runners headed by the much improved Paddy Cross who kicked two in quick succession and livewire Ricky Mentha who also kicked an early goal. Leading the charge was recruit of the year, Riley Bonner while Bailey Laurie continued his impressive vein of form. With Tom Campbell missing from the lineup, Will Verrall stepped up to the plate demonstrating his improvement under the veteran ruckman’s tutelage. The Demons were looking comfortable for much of the second quarter and held a 25-point lead until the Bombers struck back with two goals in the shadows of half time. On the other side of the main break their revival continued with first three goals of the half. Harry Sharp, who had been quiet scrambled in the Demons’ first score of the third term to bring the margin back to a single point at the 17 minute mark and the game became an arm-wrestle for the remainder of the quarter and into the final moments of the last.

The Demons simply did not take their opportunities when they presented themselves and ultimately when down by 25 points effectively ending their finals chances. Goal kicking practice during the Bye?
