How can it not be Bulldogs vs Dees even if we're both not 10-0. Unless the wheels fall off one or both of us before then we should absolutely be given the slot.

Even then just look at the fact that Saints Geelong have a Friday Night Game in a couple of weeks.

Well that's a moot point as it's been announced back to back Friday nights

Great result for us, a prime time slot also gives good promotion for one of our major sponsors in Tourism NT. It being at night means it will very likely be quite chilly, which you would imagine favours us, not to mention we have experience of playing the ground.

I will get there at some point but sadly not next year.

Again we don't get any advantage from this game in NT as we play a northern interstate team used to these conditions.

Apart from Port & Adelaide we have only played the saints at NT (Uluru not Darwin)

Not actually correct as the last few games there have been very good conditions.  It’s not Darwin where the humidity has been an issue

It would be hot a slippery just like the Gabba.

It will be cold as balls. It's not being played in Darwin

For round 11 who gets the Friday night?

Collingwood V Geelong - MCG

Richmond V Adelaide - MCG

West Coast V Essendon - Optus

Bulldogs V Melbourne - Marvel

Will they pick 2 new sides on the rise or fall into old habits and simply choose Richmond or Collingwood.

surely its us and the Dogs

Does it get cold in Alice Springs? Never been there or NT. Desert state isnt it. Only know (lived)  Melbourne  and seen Syd, Surfers Paradise and Adelaide Casino. Lived in Bangkok last 21 years. I know Ayres Rock is no longer.

  • Demonland changed the title to Back to Back Blockbuster Friday Nights for the Dees

And this followed by Queens Birthday game.

Sponsors will be happy.  (so am I)

The Demons are BOX OFFICE!!

cant complain about the draw. Wins games and good stuff happens

This is actually a great result and hopefully sees the AFL move to flexible fixture in the future. There's no way they would have had us vs Bris in NT or vs Dogs on a Friday night when creating the fixture last year

Because Channel 7 will want Collingwood v Geelong. Those two teams could be 17th and 18th on the ladder (or 1st versus 18th) and it would still pull more viewers than Bulldogs v Melbourne as 1st and 2nd (or 2nd and 1st).

What is this sort of analysis doing on 'Land? Mods . . . please.

Ayers Rock (Uluru) is still there - you just can't climb it

Your memory is astounding @Bring-Back-Powell

Gee I hope us and the dogs keep winning and both go undefeated into that round 11 game. That would be epic

LOL, "Back-to-back blockbusters", not "Back-to-back-to-back blockbusters" to include QB.

Not our fault!...

Was that Carlton game the "bruise free footy" game?

I don't normally drink on a school night... but when I do, I say things like.

SO. F*CKING. DESERVED!

I was quite shocked we didn't get one in this block...

Well done you bloody beautiful Deeeeeemons!

The floating fixture must stay IMO You then get rewarded for playing well instead of waiting 12 months

  • AFLW REPORT: Collingwood

Expectations of a comfortable win for Narrm at Victoria Park quickly evaporated as the match turned into a tense nail-biter. After a confident start by the Demons, the Pies piled on pressure and forced red and blue supporters to hold their collective breath until after the final siren. In a frenetic, physical contest, it was Captain Kate’s clutch last quarter goal and a missed shot from Collingwood’s Grace Campbell after the siren which sealed a thrilling 4-point win. Finally, Narrm supporters could breathe easy.

  • CASEY: Williamstown

The Casey Demons issued a strong statement to the remaining teams in the VFL race with a thumping 76-point victory in their Elimination Final against Williamstown. This was the sixth consecutive win for the Demons, who stormed into the finals from a long way back with scalps including two of the teams still in flag contention. Senior Coach Taylor Whitford would have been delighted with the manner in which his team opened its finals campaign with high impact after securing the lead early in the game when Jai Culley delivered a precise pass to a lead from Noah Yze, who scored his first of seven straight goals for the day. Yze kicked his second on the quarter time siren, by which time the Demons were already in control. The youngster repeated the dose in the second term as the Seagulls were reduced to mere

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Collingwood

Narrm time isn’t a standard concept—it’s the time within the traditional lands of Narrm, the Woiwurrung name for Melbourne. Indigenous Round runs for rounds 3 and 4 and is a powerful platform to recognise the contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in sport, community, and Australian culture. This week, suburban footy returns to the infamous Victoria Park as the mighty Narrm take on the Collingwood Magpies at 1:05pm Narrm time, Sunday 31 August. Come along if you can.

  • AFLW REPORT: St. Kilda

The Dees demolished the Saints in a comprehensive 74-pointshellacking.  We filled our boots with percentage — now a whopping 520.7% — and sit atop the AFLW ladder. Melbourne’s game plan is on fire, and the competition is officially on notice.

  • REPORT: Collingwood

It was yet another disappointing outcome in a disappointing year, with Melbourne missing the finals for the second consecutive season. Indeed, it wasn’t even close, as the Demons' tally of seven wins was less than half the number required to rank among the top eight teams in the competition. When the dust of the game settled and supporters reflected on Melbourne's  six-point defeat at the hands of close game specialists Collingwood, Max Gawn's words about his team’s unfulfilled potential rang true … well, almost.
