He gets the job because he has been a loyal News Ltd man for a long time and is well protected by the power brokers upstairs. I know people that have been in and out of News Ltd and he’s largely considered to be an 80's misogynist relic that trades on his “blokey, bloke” image, and [censored] kissing to make up for his lazy journalism and poor presentation skills. Basically he is widely despised by those below him while those upstairs keep him around because he is still seen as having broad appeal to the Herald-Sun/Fox Footy demographics - most of which are white males

Journalism is not an equitable or equal trade and never has been.

I think we all should realise what (who) we are dealing with here. There is a long tradition in Australian media of promoting “common man” personalities because that is what the decision makers in the media think represents the Australian people ie the “common man” and l say man advisedly. As far as they are concerned the more “okker” the better. And who is to say they are wrong?

The ratings for AFL 360 remain strong, and some might argue the contrast between the erudite Whateley and that blithering [censored] Robinson makes entertaining television. Personally l would prefer someone like Paul Roos or to keep it in the journalistic realm Tom Morris, but that makes it a very different program. Perhaps on a one more enlightened day!

His articles are decently written (certainly not the best out there) but he uses a lot of emotion in his writing which suits the HS. His footy knowledge is really poor though which surprises me. I’ve been watching 360 for years and he just always uses phrases such as “they’re just not showing heart”, or “x team has to make a stand” while completely ignoring any technical reasons.

I actually don’t like doing that when it’s my own posts - I prefer transparency when I’ve said something thoughtless and want to retract it (as a self lesson if nothing else) but I don’t know how else to stop numerous people from quoting me just to slam me and further derailing the thread, when I have already explained myself. *shrug*

I watched the segment but I doubt I ever will again.  I think Trac was confused by Robbo's rambling.  It was hard to detect if there was a question there and if there was it was, sort of, "did you know Dusty was on the ground and did you know where he was"?

I think Trac was so stunned at such a dumb question he wondered whether he'd misinterpreted it and hence his bemused look and hesitant answer.

Robbo is just so awful.

I for one am one of those that switch off a lot of the time when players are interviewed ESPECIALLY when being interviewed by inferior journalists such as Robbo. The show is only just watchable because Gerard is of the upper echelon when it comes to well informed, professionalism as one of the best currently involved in AFL media in most facets and I enjoy what he brings to the table. But back to my original statement a couple of reasons why I take most player interviews with a grain of salt (I know most have been mentioned).

- Trac and Oliver are limited in their ability to give articulate comprehensive answers to questions. Does that mean they're lesser humans or 'dumb'? Nope. They're both 25 and under, still developing and maturing.

- In terms of media appearances again lack of experience is going to greatly impact a players confidence and calmness/collectiveness to answer questions clearly with substance. I would be so incredibly nervous as I'm sure most if not all young players are when put in these situations.

- Lastly players are asked by the club to only reveal a certain amount of information about inter club information whether it be game day, training or fitness tactics etc. Not only does this limit them but would have them really wrestling with how to answer questions without saying 'I can't comment on that' all the time. I have no doubt the media training would be around giving common answers that adequately answer common questions hence why its so dry most of the time.

Cut them some slack for gods sake. Leave this sort of backlash for the politicians who should actually be the ones held to higher standards.

Trac did what I would have done. Shrugged his shoulders at a silly question and moved on.

I still just can’t get my head around how he passes any sort of quality test on the network.

The saddest thing is I really like the format of AFL360, but Robbo makes it unwatchable. When you’ve got two players who played the game analysing it, or two coaches giving their perspective, there’s a lot of opportunity for some real insight, but it’s just ruined by Robbo’s dribble. It’s the reason I don’t watch.

Robbo is horrendous, but there has never been a tv show since its invention that is as embarrassing as The Bounce.

An insult to even basic levels of intelligence.

Listened to Whateley interview Sam Mitchell today on SEN and eventually after all the adds it was a great interview, with an insight into Sam Mitchell coaching the Box Hill Hawks etc. He along with maybe Yze are the two most likely untried coaches in waiting. It made the constant advertising they subject you to almost worth it.

On the other hand after 7 minutes of mind numbing adds in the afternoon they come back to Maher and Murphy and I want the adds to come back on. Why do Whateley and Murphy team up with such dollops? Murphy had so much credibility before he put money and security in front of being listenable. Now he's just a lazy bloke making up lists with a sycophantic [censored].

Bloody Melbourne media. What happened to quality control.

Robbo gets a gig coz of the Jerry Springer syndrome. The average (or below average) Joe Schlub likes to think they are smart and there is a bigger alcoholic/moronic bloke out there talking footy

If not for spell check the bloke would not have a job!

I honestly think The Bounce is the most embarrassing garbage I've ever seen on Australian Television.

Maybe it's aimed at primary school kids. I'm not sure.

After about two years off I gave SEN another try now that we're good. There's about 30 minutes of ads an hour and the other 30 is almost worse. Maher/Murphy would be alright as a frivolous 12-4 show but it's a disaster of a drive-time program. They need to get over the formula of duos in the afternoon and find somebody with a good balance of serious and light hearted who can handle the shift solo.

Agree 100% Nasher!  The show appears to have access to all significant coaches/players and personalities going around.

We supporters should be drooling over what it presents.

    TURNAROUND by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons won their first game at home this year in the traditional King’s Birthday Weekend clash with Collingwood VFL on Sunday in a dramatic turnaround on recent form that breathed new life into the beleaguered club’s season. The Demons led from the start to record a 52-point victory. It was their highest score and biggest winning margin by far for the 2024 season. Under cloudy but calm conditions for Casey Fields, the home side, wearing the old Springvale guernsey as a mark of res

    BOILED LOLLIES by The Oracle

In the space of a month Melbourne has gone from chocolates to boiled lollies in terms of its standing as a candidate for the AFL premiership.  The club faces its moment of truth against a badly bruised up Collingwood at the MCG. A win will give it some respite but even then, it won’t be regarded particularly well being against an opponent carrying the burden of an injured playing list. A loss would be a disaster. The Demons have gone from a six/two win/loss ratio and a strong percentag

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an

    ALAS SPRINGS by Whispering Jack

I got the word on Saturday from someone who knows someone inside the Fremantle camp that the Dockers were pumped and supremely confident about getting the W the next day against Melbourne at TIO Traeger Park in the red heart of the country. I was informed that the Dockers were extremely confident for a number of reasons. They had beaten the Demons on their home territory at the MCG at their last two meetings so they didn’t see beating them at Alice Springs as a problem. They belie
