The round 9 clash between Port and Dogs will show where both clubs are at, and their prospects for 2021...

Carlton are going to seriously regret signing Williams and Saad to such big money. it's going to come back and bite them bigtime. they're no better than they were last year, just without the warchest.

Only if we win.

Even more so if we lose. It makes it less critical, as we still won’t lose touch with the top 4

I’ll play. Freo are complete garbage in Melbourne, Saints are a rabble, GWS had no one on the bench and Geelong should be 0-4.

You can only beat what’s in front of you, dogs have been very impressive.

Correct. Dogs are the best side in the competition currently and will be hard to beat this year. Their midfield is absolutely by far the best in the league.

I’m listening to abc Carlton v PA. My thoughts- Brendan Goddard is a miserable b@stard.

Great call KLV, he just seems to be permanently salty.

He grew up a Carlton boy

We play Doggies, Cats and Giants all twice this season, so good opportunities to see how we’re travelling and shape our approach to September (should we be good enough to get there)...

Just returned home from the Melb City v Melb Victory game. Is it too late to text some Essendon mates telling them City scored more goals than their team tonight?

Is anyone else feeling a bit concerned about what might happen to the Kangas tomorrow. Pre-game laps of honour for past Cats favourites coupled with the fact that they've copped some negative critique from the media this week, and of course Danger is back. North have been stiff with injuries, and a 4.40pm Sunday affair at a parochial Kardinia Park could be keeping some blokes awake tonight.

Concerned? I hope they surpass 186

In 2015 Geelong were planning a big celebratory game for Corey Enright’s 300th game at the cattery against us. We were huge underdogs but beat them to spoil the party. Anything can happen but North are really bad.

Concerned I’ll get popcorn lodged in my throat maybe.

Is Cripps really a star of the comp or just a very good player? Oliver and Trac crap all over him imo

Needs to do what Trac did and drop weight.

Game doesn't suit the big body, in and unders.

Need endurance and agility.

Vanders, could be the same. Drop some muscle weight, become faster and run further.

It is the dogs that are firing.

Already had a game against them as a practice. Hoping our brain trust figured them out. Match them up with the role players and take them apart with skill and effort.

Now that it is just us and the Dogs on top of the ladder, the maths to secure top spot become very simple.

Melbourne 170

Hawthorn 35

Sounds good to me, but of course I'll take any old win that comes our way.

Carlton and Essendon getting pummelled in unison,  be still my beating heart.

Not to mention Saints and Pies both being pulverised

What a beautiful sight to behold, all those being done over !!!

What is going on with Victory? They are a shell of the powerhouse they once were. 6 nil and 7 nil thumpings in 2 derbies this year!!!

I’m not a fan of discrediting the doggies, or us for that matter, based on who they have played. For starters, that West Cost game at Marvel was an epic played at a great standard.

Carlton are treading water, going nowhere fast. They haven't haven't nailed a draft which you have to do to provide the foundations for a finals team. Ourselves, Port and Freo have gotten it right and will be at the pointy end for a few years off the back of it. I reckon they'll be ripping it all up and starting again after next season.

You’d call yourself silly if you thought City would go one better than the last derby FD.

It was incredible, one team sniffed blood and went for it while the other went looking for a hole to crawl into for the rest of the season. Was trying to figure out after the game a 7-0 result is like what in AFL? The margin mentioned several posts above comes close to describing the Victory performance.

A 7-0 is equivalent to 186.

I haven't been to a Victory game for a few years but there must be something rotten at the core of the club to serve up efforts like last night.

Agree that would help. Although our inside mids are suffering the same way with the game style change like Viney or Clarry

i think it is highlighting his poor kicking skills even under no pressure.

After multiple humiliations in the Bailey/Neeld years, I don't recall an sympathy coming our way. More like contempt and mockery. North can look after themselves ... and start planning their new accommodation in Hobart.

How do you reckon we'll go in the second half?

Just got odds of $6 from Sportsbet for North to go winless this season, was hoping they’d gotten back to me before last week game against the Crows. I know a winless season has never happened before but there’s a first time for everything. I looked at their draw and I can’t see them beating anyone.

It's happened 14 times in AFL/VFL history, but not since Fitzroy in 1964.

St Kilda did it three times in a row from 1897-99 and again in 1902.  That would test your resilience as a supporter!

  • AFLW PREVIEW: St. Kilda

The Demons return to Casey Fields (aka the Field of Dreams) this Saturday to host the Saints in Round 2. If you’re feeling lucky, head down the Monash for some family-friendly footy—you might even walk away a winner. The first 5,000 adults through the gate will receive an entry into the $10,000 helicopter ball drop. With Casey’s infamous wind, what could possibly go wrong? Closest ball to the pin wins. So spread the word, get down there—and good luck!

  • PREVIEW: Collingwood

Way back in March we contemplated the possibility of a Demon resurgence after Simon Goodwin’s summer of love. Many issues at the club had seemingly been addressed, key players were returning from injury and a brand new day was about to dawn. We imagined the coach pulling a rabbit out of a hat. The team would roar up the charts, push aside every opponent and make its way to a Grand Final ending in ultimate triumph with Goody and Max holding the premiership cup aloft under a shower of red and blue ticker tape.
