Well that last few minutes of Q3 with Collingwood conceding 3 goals in as many minutes was reminiscent of the Melbourne of old.
Another nail in Buckley’s coffin?

Wow that was some quarter. 5 goals to 2 behinds. Dom Sheed just went nuts.

I know he is exciting but do the commentators sometimes go a bit over the top with Nic Nat. I mean Grundy tapped it straight to Nic who ran and bounced it and JB went wild like he did something spectacular.

He ran! And bounced it! And it NEARLY came back to him!!

The frothing over him is extraordinary - good tap ruckman and wins some exciting clearances once or twice a game...but that’s all

He was robbed of his best years with knee knacks - I expect if he hadn’t been so he would’ve developed into a lot more of a threat around the ground

They get paid for talking a whole lotta gobbledygook.  BT doing the same as we post.

The Eagles are playing a side that includes Allen, Kennedy, Darling forward. Nic Nat and Vardy in the ruck. Brander and Waterman on the wings/flanks. McGovern, Barrass and Rotham in defence. That’s 9-10 key position players.

Is it my imagination or did Maynard skin some stinky old wombat road kill and stick the pelt on his head?

5 goals to Allen and Darling.  Been while since a Demon kicked 5 in a game.. maybe not since McDonald kicked 6 in 2019.

Well with Fritatta out somebody can stand up..

I saw this on the Brad Hill thread on Bigfooty and just had to post it.

This is possibly one of the worst individual efforts I have ever seen, and it's a very good example of why the Saints loss to Richmond means nothing in the context of the ANZAC Eve game. No one in a Melbourne jumper is going to do this next week, that's for damn sure.

Blimey that is one of the single worst efforts I’ve seen, and I’ve watched some truly disgraceful efforts for Melbourne players in the past. The damning part to it isn’t that he dropped the mark it’s how quickly he gave up, he’s having a terrible start to the year.

Why do we need to have the umpires mic'd up?  Bloody irritating especially the one with the ridiculously deep "STAAAAND"  voice.  Somebody shoot me

They'll get absolutely torched by quicker sides, especially those who have talls who can bring the ball to ground consistently and not get outmarked by the WCE talls.

I have the utmost fear of West Coast after witnessing that harrowing day in 2018 first-hand, but I think we can legit bring it to them with our list and gameplan even over there.

Ha I see Scomo is there. Been to more afl games in the last 3 weeks than he ever has. He'd still be learning on what's going on.

Well, I guess that makes 3 Liberal MPs in WA today.

Seriously, that bloke makes me sick.  Such a phoney.  Wouldn't know what an Ausie rules ball is from a soccer ball.  Sort of guy who would pretend to be interested in all the things you are just to try to look popular and hang with the cool kids.

The Libs are hated at the moment in WA. The boos he got when on-screen were noticeable.

Hate to say it ... but the filth weren't too bad, particularly having regard to injuries.

Putting that to one side, very happy to see them 1 - 4.

The pies haven't been terrible but are 1-4. They can forget about finals this year. Could the wheels come off from here?

GWS must be rubbing their hands together with glee at the thoughts of where the pies first round pick will fall. Could be a Top 5 selection. Wish we held that pick.

Not exactly the right thread, but am I alone in thinking that it’s crazy that no match is being played at the MCG on a Saturday afternoon?

I think its a one off due to the AFLW grand final which starts at 2pm. No mens games scheduled to avoid over-shadowing the womens big day. Fair enough i reckon.

Any other other Saturday and i would agree with you.

Hoping the Suns can ambush the doggies today. And i wouldn't mind seeing Port come unstuck either although the downside will be a week of the media pumping Carlton's tyres.

Dogs and Port are both the real deal. No way either is losing today, as much as I also want to see it happen.

I'm not confident either. Neither the Suns or Carlton have been at all convincing.

More it would be a nice surprise to see our direct rivals lose a game.

Ah, of course. I’ll have to think about something else to be annoyed at.
Yes, the out of bounce deliberate rule is laughable

  • NON-MFC: Round 06

The Easter Round kicks off in style with a Thursday night showdown between Brisbane and Collingwood, as both sides look to solidify their spots inside the Top 4 early in the season. Good Friday brings a double-header, with Carlton out to claim consecutive wins when they face the struggling Kangaroos, while later that night the Eagles host the Bombers in Perth, still chasing their first victory of the year. Saturday features another marquee clash as the resurgent Crows look to rebound from back-to-back losses against a formidable GWS outfit. That evening, all eyes will be on Marvel Stadium where Damien Hardwick returns to face his old side—the Tigers—coaching the Suns at a ground he's never hidden his disdain for. Sunday offers two crucial contests where the prize is keeping touch with the Top 8. First, Sydney and Port Adelaide go head-to-head, followed by a fierce battle between the Bulldogs and the Saints. Then, Easter Monday delivers the traditional clash between two bitter rivals, both desperate for a win to stay in touch with the top end of the ladder. Who are you tipping this week and what are the best results for the Demons?

What were they thinking? I mean by “they” the coaching panel and team selectors who chose the team to play against an opponent who, like Melbourne, had made a poor start to the season and who they appeared perfectly capable of beating in what was possibly the last chance to turn the season around. It’s no secret that the Demons’ forward line is totally dysfunctional, having opened the season barely able to average sixty points per game which means there has been no semblance of any system from the team going forward into attack. Nevertheless, on Saturday night at the Adelaide Oval in one of the Gather Round showcase games, Melbourne, with Max Gawn dominating the hit outs against a depleted Essendon ruck resulting from Nick Bryan’s early exit, finished just ahead in clearances won and found itself inside the 50 metre arc 51 times to 43. The end result was a final score that had the Bombers winning 15.6 (96) to 8.9 (57). On balance, one could expect this to result in a two or three goal win, but in this case, it translated into a six and a half goal defeat because they only managed to convert eight times or 11.68% of their entries. The Bombers more than doubled that. On Thursday night at the same ground, the losing team Adelaide managed to score 100 points from almost the same number of times inside 50.
