Hes been shown up by 5 goal Weideman but he looks ready to go against Richmond.

Weids is getting his eye in. Great 50m set shot

I just might have misread the Weed's slow development based upon the reports of today.

Seems to be moving well. Took a defensive mark right next to Box Hill's behind post before and then contested an inside 50 at our end about 30 seconds later.

Think he's got 2 goals so far

Linking up, playing round the ground.

Assuming all available, no injuries.. etc, how do we fit May, Fritsch, B.Brown, Weid & Bedford in the side?

Out: Petty, M.Brown, TMac (?), Melksham, Jones (?)

Seniors have to repeat this performance first.

It's a different class as well. Jetta looks like he's in a training run.

Brown has played up and down the ground and having a really good hit out. Also kicked three goals so far and looks in great nick.

At the g right now so can’t watch it but have taped it promising reports on Bedford Brown Weideman and dsmith how is bowey going

I'm only watching on TV, but I could see them only bringing in Wiedeman next week. Ben Brown moves awkwardly at the best of times, but he still looks a little bit off. Wiedeman is moving like a Ferrari or a Jaguar, while Brown's moving a bit like a ute with a trailer on it.

I haven’t noticed Bowey after 1/2 time.  Did some nice things earlier. Gutsy little fella. Not frightened to have a go. Kicked in from full back too.

Bowey has been quiet.  About the only quiet Casey player.

OMG Toby Bedford moves well. AFL bound.

Always has moved beautifully.
Seems to be a player who needs to believe he belongs at AFL level.
Some take longer than others - hopefully soon!

Good to see BB is still getting the calls his way

Linkage play for BB today, so far; all over the ground sounds very much like he is using the game to beef up his fitness/readiness in the big time. No static forward, at all. Great sign...reverse the deck of cards - he'll be feeding the smalls in the team in future.

Most of us agree that Weid is a 'confidence player'.  His confidence should be 'sky high' after today.  1 + 1 = 2.  Looks like he's senior bound!

Nek minnut, Brown crumbs off the ground, 360 spin and shot on goal! Only spoiled by being slightly offline.

In all seriousness, I think he has an awkward look at the best of time. He, Weid & Bedford all look ready imo.

  • PREVIEW: Hawthorn

Hawthorn and Melbourne. Two teams with impressive form from last week but with seasons that are travelling on different trajectories meet in Saturday’s twilight game for what could well be the most intriguing contest of the AFL’s penultimate round. Sadly, the game has been relegated to that unappealing time slot in the weekend when Melburnians are typically preoccupied with activities other than football. It falls between the morning's shopping, afternoon sport and recreation, and Saturday night fever. A time usually reserved for relatively insignificant events but this one is not a nothingburger for either of the clubs or their fans.

  • REPORT: Western Bulldogs

The next coach of the Melbourne Football Club faces the challenge of teaching his players how to win games against all comers. At times during this tumultuous season, that task has seemed daunting, made more so in light of the surprise news last week of the sacking of premiership coach Simon Goodwin. However, there were also some positive signs from yesterday’s match against the Western Bulldogs that the challenge may not be as difficult as one might think. The two sides presented a genuine football spectacle, featuring pulsating competitive play with eight lead changes throughout the afternoon, in a display befitting a finals match. The result could have gone either way and in the end, it came down to which team could produce the most desperate of acts to provide a winning result. It was the Bulldogs who had their season on the line that won out by a six point margin that fitted the game and the effort of both sides.

  • CASEY: Brisbane

The rain had been falling heavily in south east Queensland when the match began at Springfield, west of Brisbane. The teams exchanged early goals and then the Casey Demons proceeded like a house on fire in the penultimate game of the VFL season against a strong opponent in the Brisbane Lions. Sparked by strong play around the ground by seasoned players in Charlie Spargo and Jack Billings, a strong effort from Bailey Laurie and promising work from youngsters in Kynan Brown and  Koltyn Tholstrup, the Demons with multiple goal kickers firing, raced to a 27 point lead late in the opening stanza. A highlight was a wonderful goal from Laurie who brilliantly sidestepped two opponents and kicked beautifully from 45 metres out.
