Four and Oh, soak it up!!!

My standout points for the game:

  • Jake Lever is a legend. BOG by far, stood up when May went down and his leadership was absolutely exceptional. Without him there, likely we'd have crumbled and lost.
  • The improvement of lower tier players like Hunt and Neal-Bullen is having a huge impact on how well we are playing. Credit to those guys to finding some great form and credit to Williams (I expect) for his impact in that regard.
  • Great that the umpires are finally penalising the throwing in congestion, good to see.
  • If we hadn't dropped all those marks and kicked for goal terribly we'd have won by about 50 goals, no doubt.

They tried their best to duck and elbow their way to a win but class won out. 4 zip baby!

Team win.

Everyone contributed.

Best win by the club since the 2018 semi final.

Loved the intensity and the repeat ferocious tackles throughout the whole game.

Completely agree, the intensity was evident since first bounce and never let up.

All I want now is May to be ok , a pizza , a bourban and a chance to call my brother in law and gloat that his cats are cooked.

Outstanding TEAM win!

Not good at all.

Who is Majak Daw for 500.

Lever’s LEADERSHIP!

Jake Lever proved his value with “that” display of leadership after the Brayshaw free.

There is absolutely zero doubt to even to the most ardent that we got the trade right!

Is it too early to sleep out for GF seats in the MCC??

woohoo

Usually there are a few saying the umpires weren’t bad, but how about now?

Terrible for both teams in my opinion but I did feel like Geelong had some lucky frees that lead to goals which impacted the game more. That umpire with the booming deep voice was the worst.

Very difficult game to umpire and the view they have is radically different to the one (or multiple) views we get.

Yep. If he is good to go, bring him in.

Yep. Politely asked the ump what the free was for, no arguing, just reminding his teammates to keep their cool. It was great stuff.

Spargo another great game. Hunt even better than last week (safer with ball in hand today).

Sucks to lose May, probably for a fair while. I think we can still go OK though based on today's performance.

Incredibly satisfying .

Am I alone in thinking Hawkin's elbow wasn't accidental?

Are Geelong now considered bad enough for people to continue saying "but the Demons haven't beaten anybody yet"?

  • POSTGAME: Essendon

Despite a spirited third quarter surge, the Demons have slumped to their worst start to a season since 2012, remaining winless and second last on the ladder after a 39-point defeat to Essendon at Adelaide Oval in Gather Round.

  • GAMEDAY: Essendon

It’s Game Day, and the Demons are staring down the barrel of an 0-5 start for the first time since 2012 as they take on Essendon at Adelaide Oval for Gather Round. In that forgettable season, Melbourne finally broke their drought by toppling the Bombers. Can lightning strike twice? Will the Dees turn their nightmare start around and breathe life back into 2025?

  • PREVIEW: Essendon

As the focus of the AFL moves exclusively to South Australia for Gather Round, the question is raised as to what are we going to get from the  Melbourne Football Club this weekend? Will it be a repeat of the slop fest of the last three weeks that have seen the team score a measly 174 points and concede 310 or will a return to the City of Churches and the scene where they performed at their best in 2024 act as a wakeup call and bring them out of their early season reverie?  Or will the sleepy Dees treat their fans to a reenactment of their lazy effort from the first Gather Round of two years ago when they allowed the Bombers to trample all over them on a soggy and wet Adelaide Oval? The two examples from above tell us how fickle form can be in football. Last year, a committed group of players turned up in Adelaide with a businesslike mindset. They had a plan, went in confidently and hard for the football and kicked winning scores against both home teams in a difficult environment for visitors. And they repeated that sort of effort later in the season when they played Essendon at the MCG.
