Ticketing for Rd 05 vs Hawthorn

Looks like premium season ticket holders can be seated on L1 which I'd guess to be our usual away game area in the Ponsford. Regular season ticket holders get access to the site from 1pm tomorrow for GA seats.

Anzac eve promises to be a debacle

There was talk a couple of weeks ago of going 100% capacity by Round 6 DD, gone quiet since though.

There were a lot of perplexed and frustrated Melbourne supporters around us on Sunday. Watching Cats’ fans not only in an MFC reserved area but in your actual reserved seat was a head scratcher.

Well done to the MCG for closing the top level of the southern  and ponsford stand last week (where most seats are under cover) despite it raining for most of the game.

We got stuck in the northern stand, right in the teeth of the southerly buster, while our normal reserve seats on level 2 in the southern stand were unoccupied. Not only that, at the end of the game the bar was closed! We were told only bars open on that side in that block were in the mcc members area. Thanks a freakin lot, whoever was responsible for that debacle. If this state of affairs continues much longer, might be spending games at home.

The bar at my place never closes, probably the same at your home HJ.

Mentioned that to a mate as the rain started.

Not sure if it was due to COVID or a cost cutting exercise but it was poor form to have the top level closed on a very wet day.

I don't think so. You Said, Anzac eve  promises to be a debacle. My reply was,  only you are going. As in to the game.

Tried to access tickets to Mfc v Rich

Seems to suggest that they are going to charge us $50-$60 for a Ticket?

Is that for real?

Not just poor form and a cost cutting exercise by the MCC operators but it defies logic to me anyway. What is the point of the 75% COVID crowd limit if you squeeze everyone into 75% or less of the seating? What is the difference then between 75 and 100% from a health risk point of view?

according to the CHO its not about spacing but more about zones and stopping cross overs between zones. He was quoted today as saying they were not too sure how they could move to 100% and still maintain space between zones.

Stupid I know as with both last weeks game and this one everyone could have easily spread out and a lovely time would have been had by all.

it's called a loophole, earl

If they’re worried about social distancing they should do something about Richmond station and the lines to get inside after the game ?

Thanks that is interesting. For a big match where you have 75,000 there is massive cross over of people outside the ground before they enter and then sit cheek by jowl, and scream and yell! Thank God for that zoning.

You will find that MFC would have been consulted in the decision as it reduces cost out to them

yes, has no cost effect to mcg. (nor pies or tiges). mcc save money by not opening certain sections.

Just got tickets, pretty easy in a dedicated Melbourne area behind the Ponsford Stand goals.

I tried to get tickets but they wanted to charge me ( inserted code ) and told me they had sold out of tickets.

  • PODCAST: Gold Coast

I’ll be away for the next few weeks, so Binman will be holding the fort for our podcasts covering the Suns, Bombers and Lions matches. As a result, there will be no live podcasts during this period, and we won’t be taking calls or voicemails. Binman will still be dipping into this thread to select a few questions to answer, while also combining the long-form Stats Files podcast with the Demonland Podcast for these shows. Your questions and comments are a huge part of what makes the podcast work, so please post anything you’d like to ask or say below and we’ll do our best to give you a shout-out on the show. Please try to keep each post focused on one specific topic or player to make podcast preparation a little easier. If you have multiple topics you’d like to raise, please put them in separate posts.

  • PREVIEW: Gold Coast

Melbourne’s slow starts have been a troubling theme for a while. Against the Suns, they started slowly in both of their games, they trailed by 5.7.37 to 0.1.1 at quarter time at Peoples First Stadium in Round 16. This season, the story has remained the same and if the Demons fail to shake off this issue against the unbeaten Gold Coast Suns, they will be in serious danger of capitulating once again in their Easter Sunday showdown.
