Casey Demons vs Williamstown

KC from Casey

Recommended Posts

The Casey Demons’ final pre season practice match is scheduled against Williamstown on Saturday, April 10, 2021 ahead of the season opener against the Box Hill Hawks on the following Saturday.

With Melbourne doing well in the AFL and players returning from injury, we can expect some big names taking part in the Casey team this week.

That would be a huge boost. Maybe they could each play a half at full forward.  I think we’d have to get them through two games before senior selection.  I thought tom McDonald did ok in round 1 but he’s not the answer across CHF/FF. Need Weid and Ben Brown in the MFC line up.

I wonder whether they'd look to bring one in for the Anzac eve match

I read in an article on the MFC app, that both the Weed and Brown played in an intraclub game last weekend. Does anyone have any info as to how they went?

I’d like to think that it’s not a contest between them, but rather an opportunity for them to practice operating together in the same f50.  Imagine Brown leading up and Weidemann sitting back splitting the defenders and offering some juicy 1:1s for the Hf line to kick to.  Frittata leading to the pocket as third option, and Kosi buzzing around ready to pounce.....

Fritta needs to stop leading into the pockets Very rarely leads within the 45 deg arc and should concentrate on that.

Having said that his 2 set shots on Sunday  were Spot on. Really knows how to set the ball.

Kinda exciting to think about and consider, at this point of their eventual return to the team, just how opposition sides are going to counter a forward set-up such as the one that is going to be in place in the very near future for the Dees. Unless there are executive decisions to mess up the functionality of the array - including its potential, multiple and layered strategies for a avalanche of goals - the near future is looking particularly bright across the whole field of play.

There are others in the team other than the mentioned key players, bubbling along, who will provide considerable support and further options for aggressive scoring options and pathways.

I sense that both Yze and Chocko will contribute significantly to this new deck of cards winning many tricks onfield and before goal.

'Carna Dees!

Possible Casey forward line this week

HF   Chandler     Weideman    Melksham

F     M Brown     B Brown       Bedford

Rosman and Laurie buzzing around.   Couldn't even fit big Majak in  (could swap him with Mitch though).

Pretty handy.

What a debacle

the VFL still doing pre-season pratice matches when we are up to round 4.

Amateur hour

What's the issue?  We still get a game which is all we really want.  That it doesn't count for VFL points doesn't really matter does it?

it was always round 3 but this is effectively round 6.

Unfortunately it is a reflection on how the senior coaches regard the VFL. I suspect they would be happy to keep it as practice matches.

The issue is game time for those that aren't in the seniors. How does a Melksham for example get match fit....?

With less rotations, the possibility of player fatigue is high and the ability of clubs to manage the fitness of their player rosters is compromised.

    DELUGE by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons overcame their inaccuracy and the wet inhospitable conditions to overrun the lowly Northern Bullants at Genis Steel Oval in Cramer Street, Preston on Saturday. It was an eerie feeling entering the ground that in the past hosted many VFA/VFL greats of the past including the legendary Roy Cazaly. The cold and drizzly rain and the sparse crowd were enough to make one want to escape to the nearby Preston Market and hang out there for the afternoon. In the event, the fans

    INSANITY by Whispering Jack

Somehow, the Melbourne Football Club managed it twice in the course of a week. Coach Simon Goodwin admitted it in his press conference after the loss against the Brisbane Lions in a game where his team held a four goal lead in the third term:   "In reality we went a bit safe. Big occasion, a lot of young players playing. We probably just went into our shell a bit. "There's a bit to unpack in that last quarter … whether we go into our shells a bit late in the game."   Well

    UNBACKABLE by The Oracle

They’re billing the Brisbane Lions as a sleeping giant — the best team outside the top eight —and based on their form this month they’re a definite contender for September AFL action. Which is not exactly the best of news if you happen to be Melbourne, the visiting team this week up at the Gabba.  Even though they are placed ahead of their opponent on the AFL table, and they managed to stave off defeat in their last round victory over North Melbourne, this week’s visitors to the Sunshi

    WILDCARDS by KC from Casey

Casey’s season continued to drift into helplessness on Sunday when they lost another home game by a narrow margin, this time six points, in their Round 13 clash with North Melbourne’s VFL combination. The game was in stunning contrast to their last meeting at the same venue when Casey won the VFL Wildcard Match by 101 points. Back then, their standout players were Brodie Grundy and James Jordon who are starring in the AFL with ladder leaders, the Sydney Swans (it turned out to be their last
