JimmyGadson 3,455 Posted March 29, 2021 Posted March 29, 2021 Huge test this week. Going in favourites, playing a team who are being slammed left right and centre in the media and will bring heat from the start. Can we absorb it and match it? A lot of internal talk about us working on maturity and consistency over the off-season. What an occasion to test ourselves. If we bring the same attitude and intensity as last week, I think we've got them. Regardless of our questionable skills at times. GWS are not the team they once were and this will be about who is more desperate and whether or not we can match or beat the intensity they bring from the first bounce and maintain it. As far as looking forward goes, if we win this, think about the effect it will have on attendance at the G against Geelong the following week? For a team like ours who needs to win its supporters hearts back and get them wanting to come to watch every week, this game is huge. Melbourne supporters will come in droves if this train keeps moving. 3-0 with a blockbuster against a wobbly and ageing Geelong side. Nightmares of the 2018 elim final again for them. How much do you want it, dees? Get it done. 16
sisso 2,628 Posted March 29, 2021 Posted March 29, 2021 Shut down Toby Greene and I can't see how they kick a winning score they don't have much firepower up forward apart from him 1
Superunknown 4,246 Posted March 29, 2021 Posted March 29, 2021 Here's a 4 leg Multi. Dees win Clayton 30+ posessions Kozzie and Trac 1 goal any time 3.75 payout. I've had a massive gulp of bathwater...saltttty! 1

GWS will throw everything at us and try to hurt us - they have form on this vs the Dogs. It's a great opportunity for the players to stand up and make a statement away from home. 2

Deemania since 56 6,810 Posted March 30, 2021 Posted March 30, 2021 On 3/27/2021 at 11:07 PM, whatwhat say what said: if we ever learn to kick straight we will really put some sides to the sword This element of our performances must be due for improvement, by now. We do have a new, specialist coach for this in Chocko and around half a dozen forwards in the class. Most of these (pupils) only miss goals, not the points, by a small margin so correction, with real practices, cannot be as mystifying as it looks. Once BB hits the team, value pressure is going to be widespread across the transgressors - almost above and beyond any other football credibility. When the corner, fast approaching, is reached, it may well prove to be stunning. Against the Saints, out-of-bounds and points totalled 31 appearances. Hell, that is a good deal of kicking for a score! Pity is was wasted, in reality. If only half of these were correctly on-track, imagine the victory margin we might have otherwise provided against a fair dinkum finals contender in the Saints. 2
Fat Tony 5,337 Posted March 30, 2021 Posted March 30, 2021 The balance of our side looks very good at the moment and, but for poor goal kicking, we should have won both games by 40 and 50 points. In saying this, Hibberd and Melksham are still in our best side IMO once they are fit and in form. Jetta, Jones, Rivers and Sparrow would be on the fringe at the moment, but they have all played well enough to hold their spots on Saturday. I can see why most posters are calling for no change, but IMO Hibberd for Jetta, Rivers or Hunt and Melksham for Jones would improve our side.

DubDee 26,682 Posted March 30, 2021 Posted March 30, 2021 Melksham put his hand put for selection apparently. 2 goals and a good performance around the ball Jones and Sparrow will be nervous. As much as I am disappointing with Melk over last year's efforts, he does add a new dimension to our game with strong marking/kicking and link up play fwd of centre interesting decision for the committee
Roost it far 10,160 Posted March 30, 2021 Posted March 30, 2021 17 hours ago, whatwhat say what said: very interested to see what gw$ do with their ferrari engine room this week; has been sputtering along - josh kelly looks completely disinterested in being in blacktown beyond 2021 I know a club that will take him
Roost it far 10,160 Posted March 30, 2021 Posted March 30, 2021 They’ll certainly come to play but I’m confident we’re a better side than last year whilst they’re not 2
Lucifers Hero 40,742 Posted March 30, 2021 Posted March 30, 2021 It will be interesting to see if either Hibberd or Melksham come back this week, especially as there is no Casey practice match for them to improve match fitness. If they don't, it gives a very strong message that regardless of experience or past performance they need to force their way into the side rather than be automatic starts. Having said that I would be surprised if Melksham doesn't play vs GWS - not so sure about Hibberd.
WA Demon Boy 966 Posted March 30, 2021 Posted March 30, 2021 In: Hibb and Melk Out: Jones and Jetta It's tough and pretty harsh given neither Jones or Jetta did anything awful last week, but Hibb and Melk improve the side and I'd rather incremental gains to the team overall. 1

Lucifers Hero 40,742 Posted March 30, 2021 Posted March 30, 2021 Reid has accepted his two week suspension so is an out for our game this week. 1

Very arguable improvement maybe Hibbo but no one deserves to be dropped especially for Melky.

Wunders 397 Posted March 30, 2021 Posted March 30, 2021 Last year didn't everyone think that Melk was Goodwins love child because he was never dropped no matter how poor he played? aka if he is, it's almost guaranteed that he comes back in this week regardless of the fact that the team is working really well together.

Jones as the med sub. Still gets the game addition. 1
Dee Zephyr 19,322 Posted March 30, 2021 Posted March 30, 2021 Sub switch. Baker out Melksham in. Hibbo probably has still a bit to offer, but I wouldn’t want to change the back 6 at the moment. 2
Lord Nev 13,512 Posted March 30, 2021 Posted March 30, 2021 Jake Melksham was impressive for Casey, certainly knocking on the door for selection at Melbourne after imposing himself on the game and kicking two goals. “Melky was strong in the contest,” Corrigan said. “His craft around the ball was really good and he was able to hit the scoreboard with a couple of goals - he certainly put his hand up (for selection).” VFL: Casey wins a close one over the Kangaroos 1
The Big Sauce 25 Posted March 30, 2021 Posted March 30, 2021 nah...don't muck around with a winning side. If a change must be made change the medsub.
dazzledavey36 56,347 Posted March 30, 2021 Posted March 30, 2021 I think Vandenberg will be the sub. They'll still want to get minutes into the likes of Melksham and Hibberd. 1
