We have no media department.

We do, but they are obviously thin. They managed to film a video piece featuring Checker drinking a sponsor’s product.... clearly  a matter of prioritisation.

maybe it is the way of the future though - the players have all made a fuss of Clarry on social so perhaps that’s a low rent way to celebrate the occasion nowadays.

Interviewed by Ben Gibson as part of ‘Demons lock in first side of 2021’. As a normally young man of few words was articulate and quietly confident. A highlight reel is also there with Clarrie ‘kicking’ the ball a great deal. (vision of the complete champion!)

Upwards and onwards Clayton!

May your next ?for the MFC really scale the heights and attain the ultimate fabled grail.

love this kid

what do you want? a week long celebration?

  • Grapeviney changed the title to Clayton Oliver’s 100th - no puff piece, no profile, no promo

He played a little bit too cute today, needs to take the first option more often, use his good footskills rather than rely on the handball. Still nice to see he got the pill though

Of more concern right now is the joint is empty 20 minutes from the bounce. Cannot for the life of me understand why we don’t have 40k+ here.  Embarrassing

Yes, it was a disappointing crowd.  I wanted to come. But after considering the 17,000 km distance, $8,000 airfare and two weeks’ quarantine, I decided to give it a miss. Slack, I know. Seriously, i just wish I had the chance to attend.

35 disposals for the game.

10 kicks and 25 handballs. The part of his game I was hoping for an adjustment over the summer.

The most unfairly disrespected superstar in the league.

We're not likely going to see a better first 100 games for a long time.

Well done Clarry - now sign that contract!

Should have led the team out yesterday Didnt, Should have tossed the Coin yesterday Didnt, should have been hoisted on someones shoulders in acknowledgement of probably the best first 100 games ever. Wasn't, Massive question WHY NOT??

What argument are you trying to win here?

The club loves the bloke, he is plainly the future of the joint, and I expect they’re desperately trying to get him to commit to a long term deal.

So what’s your point? They should should be being more naff, more cliched, less cool?

Pretty sure all that happen when a player plays 200 games,  not 100.

Really hope they can get a contract sorted during the season. Would be a massive set back if we lose our number 1 midfielder.

He's a gun and as have everyone on here has done we have enjoyed every one of his 100 games.

I don't need Robbo to tell me he's good. He can kneel down and slobber all over the Dusty Martin statue he's put up in his backyard.

What did he have Oliver ranked at again?

  • PREVIEW: West Coast

It was bad enough that the Melbourne Football Club created yet another humiliating scenario inside its wretched season at Marvel Stadium last Sunday, but the final insult is that it has been commanded to return to the scene of the crime to inflict further punishment on its fans this week. Incidentally, if this match preview, of a game that promises to be one of the most unattractive fixtures in the history of the game, happens to cut out of your computer screen three quarters of the way through, it’s no coincidence. I’ll be mirroring the Demons’ lacklustre effort against St Kilda from last Sunday when they conceded the largest last quarter turnaround for victory in the history of the game.

  • REPORT: St. Kilda

When looking back at the disastrous end to the game, I find it a waste of time to concentrate on the final few moments when utter confusion reigned. Forget the 6-6-6 mess, the failure to mark the most dangerous man on the field, the inability to seal the game when opportunities presented themselves to Clayton Oliver, Harry Petty and Charlie Spargo, the vision of match winning players of recent weeks in Kozzy Pickett and Jake Melksham spending helpless minutes on the interchange bench and the powerlessness of seizing the opportunity to slow the tempo of the game down in those final moments.

  • CASEY: Sandringham

The Casey Demons rebounded from a sluggish start to manufacture a decisive win against Sandringham in the final showdown, culminating a quarter century of intense rivalry between the fluctuating alignments of teams affiliated with AFL clubs Melbourne and St Kilda, as the Saints and the Zebras prepare to forge independent paths in 2026. After conceding three of the first four goals of the match, the Demons went on a goal kicking rampage instigated by the winning ruck combination of Tom Campbell with 26 hitouts, 26 disposals and 13 clearances and his apprentice Will Verrall who contributed 20 hitouts. This gave first use of the ball to the likes of Jack Billings, Bayley Laurie, Riley Bonner and Koltyn Tholstrup who was impressive early. By the first break they had added seven goals and took a strong grip on the game. The Demons were well served up forward early by Mitch Hardie and, as the game progressed, Harry Sharp proved a menace with a five goal performance. Emerging young forwards Matthew Jefferson and Luker Kentfield kicked two each but the former let himself down with some poor kicking for goal.
Young draft talent Will Duursma showed the depth of his talent and looks well out of reach for Melbourne this year. Kalani White was used sparingly and had a brief but uneventful stint in the ruck.

  • PREGAME: West Coast

The Demons return to the scene of the crime on Saturday to face the wooden spooners the Eagles at the Docklands. Who comes in and who goes out? Like moving deck chairs on the Titanic.
