Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

The three most memorable are the 1987 finals run where we beat Footscay, then North by 118 points and the Swans by 70-odd. That was peak optimism as a supporter The campaign for the whole season was do it for Robbie after he wanted to retire at the end of 86.

All fantastic games you've mentioned.

Interesting that nobody ever talks about our 1988 finals wins. Great wins over West Coast, Collingwood and Carlton. And we were one of the rare clubs in history to win 3 finals in the one year without winning the flag, in 1988.

For some reason my all time favorite final is the win against Carlton in the 2000 final series, what a game and Malcolm Blights one sided commentary still rankles me. Green and Bruce played crucial cameo's in a solid team win, I can still remember that we were all jumping up and down as the scoreboard chopped and changed in that last quarter...Phew, I was exhausted.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I remember the bounce of the ball in the centre it went slightly angling towards Jeff White and Malcoim Blight, oh  the opposition ruckman unfairly disadvantaged saying did you see the bounce. Spare me Malcolm ! Never ever had a good word for the Dees.

Honestly i am not even exaggerating. He was a Whinger.

What beats the Melbourne V Bulldogs at the Western Oval when we needed to beat them and Hawthorn needed to beat Geelong for us to make the finals for the first time in 23 years. It was the final round.

With 2 mins to go in our game and holding The Dogs just about every Dees supporter at the ground was glue and listening to the radios as the siren went at Kardinia p[ark and Hawthorn hung on to a 3 point win coming from behind thanks to Dunstall's winning goal.

The Dees supporters at the ground all went ballistic while our game was still in progress it felt by the players of both clubs had stopped and thinking the siren had gone. However the Melbourne boys would have worked it out quickly l believe.

Brings a tear to my eye, 1987.  They did it for Robbie,

Nothing and I say again absolutely nothing can top this game for me!!???

ANNNND the after match party at MINOOTZ RESTAURENT in Collingwood I think was a particularly great night! Players, Wives, Coaches hangers on and associated hangers on partied on in what still remains for me a pivotal moment in time!!

Not sure if this restaurent is still around!!?

I was strangely confident the entire game.  Carlton were well on top in the general play for three quarters but couldn’t put us away.  Daniher’s teams were always very hot and cold and when we switched it on for the last quarter we were hot!

Love the question, these are the first ones that come to mind:

- 2000 Qualifying Final last quarter against Carlton

- 2005 Rd 21 last quarter against the Bulldogs and Jeff White's winning goal

- 2006 Elimination final against the Saints

- 2016 against the Hawks

- 2017 against the Eagles. Might have been my favourite Sat night ever as a Dees fan

-2018 against the Eagles. I still have this gane recorded in the Foxtel planner and watch that last quarter probably more than anything I've mentioned. One of the best days of my Melb supporting life.

- 2018 finals.

Also, I always had a really special place in my heart for certain pieces of play by us that involved a massive team lifting bump that flattened the opposition that leads to the team kicking a goal straight after (usually from about 15 - 20 years ago). I used to jump through the roof when this would happen.

The 2 that come to mind are the Neitz one on Mccabe that effectively ended his career. And the Wrecker Whelan one on James Hird in the 2004 down the members wing that led to the Trapper goal.

I remember after Ox's goal early on where he raised the ball he was just sounding off. "I reckon it sucks, I've seen so many games turned because of that shocking behaviour"

The best of/highlights video of Liam Jurrah for me. He was the most talented football player I've ever seen and sometimes I watch it wondering what could have been and what we all missed out on.

The Freo comeback game is also a highlight but that's possibly because it was one of the most fun days at the footy coupled with a bloody fun night.

There's a bunch of good ones but I do love Farmer's nine second half goals against the Pies.

I also have good memories of our 2006 final against the Saints. I was living in Sydney at the time and watched the game with a bunch of other ex-pats (mostly Saints supporters) in a bar in King's Cross.

My cousin and I were outnumbered and being heckled the entire game and then something changed late and we sprung into action. Brock McLean's goal is forever etched in my memory.

Easily one of my best ever moments as a Dees fan. I was only 14 and sat next to a Blues fan who oddly wasn’t too bad and we just had good banter all game. At the end he shook my hand said, wished us luck, and said thanks for back and forth. Don’t think I’ve ever met a good Blues fan since!

Great choice 'soup!  That last 5 minutes was unbelievable, and the outpouring of emotion that followed it will live with me until the day they drape my old red and blue jumper over a pine box.  For an old fart like me, the only possible rival would be the last 5 mins of the 1964 GF vs Collingwood ...... the Froggy Crompton goal and the Ray Gabelich 'drunken' run.  Indelible memories!

Yep. Definitely right up there. Iirc Pederson played a big role in that win as well.

Spot on. Pederson's last 15 minutes were immense. Think he had three shots at goal, clunked some contested marks and helped set up that TMac special.

when tom kicked the goal against west coast

the 2 finals in 98

beating geelong down there when Robbo stepped up

the game against essendon when we ran that fantastic bit of play in the dying moments and salem slotted through the winner

our 2 finals against geelong and hawthorn

I'm sure there are many more.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

    GAMEDAY: Rd 07 vs Richmond

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
