Here is a photo a friend took of me as the ball sailed through the goal from the sublime right foot of Jacky boy:

omac's greatest moment

I'd also say it was one of Jack Watt's greatest moments too.  What a wasted talent.  In an alternate universe Jack would have been a MFC premership player in 2021.

Asides from his elite goal kicking accuracy, he was also great at hitting target inside 50 - gee we could have done with that in the back end of 2023.

Fun fact Jack Watt's middle name is Redvers.

Lolz Freo..

What a horrible mean spirited post.  You don't rate him, fine, but why post this tripe?  It casts you in such a poor light which sadly, for someone who has a bit to offer, happens far too regularly.

Yep, Dazzle’s EI is definitely on the poor side!!

Another big name recruiting coup by Belly.

definitely one for his feather collection

Apart from Harley Bennell the Omac pick is one of the weirdest picks in memory. Not really a trade as he wasnt even on any AFL list since 2022 and the still young factor doesnt apply.

Freo really are a class act. lol

How bad are freo going redrafting a slower than his brother, never was a player?🤪

Curious as to why OMc is being ridiculed here. Good luck big fella, hope you get to 100 games.

Does my head in. Especially when it’s a player who has moved on but who never screwed us over. The default should really be to wish him well.

Fun fact; when Oscar McDonald was swung forward by Carlton, he delivered a statistical match for what we got out of Harrison Petty in 2023.

Of course, OMC only played one game, but at least now we know what Freo are basing their decision on.

I suspect he'll do fine for Freo and they wont regret picking him up. The two year contract is also good for all involved because Fremantle basically have two years to get it together before half their list retires or leaves as free agents.

Worked really hard, made vfl team of the year at FB, earned another chance. Was already discussed mid season, with teams interested, so not a surprise. Good luck to him.

Well done to him and complete respect for coming back and rehabbing a seriously horrific back injury.

The need to cut down ex players is really sad. He has worked his behind off to get a third opportunity and I wish him all the absolute best, even if I despise Freo and want to see them fail.

Stupid initial post by me

I might be wrong but im assuming you have played footy at the highest level.

I mean, surely you have played at AFL level and played at least as many games as omac (86) to be so dismissive of him being picked up by an AFL club with a full time professional recruitment team who are experts at assessing players ability and likelihood of making an impact at the elite level.

Have I missed something. "He has been recruited by the Dockers. Good on him." doesn't seem dismissive.  What do you expect? A binman style 3 part 20 page narrative on why OMac got picked up.

Just because I'm paranoid doesn't mean no-one is out to get me.

Once a whipping boy, always a whipping boy I think.

Personally, I think alot was asked and expected of Oscar from very early on in his career at the MFC.  The hopes and expectations were somewhat that he'd develop into the sort of quality KPP that his big brother Tommy was before injuries hampered the latter's capacity and Oscar was somewhat judged in that light.

Further Oscar always played in a struggling to mid level side at Melbourne and Carlton probably weren't much better when he went there.  If he played 3rd string tall defender to May, Lever and the backline we have now, Oscar might be solid enough backup, go somewhat unoticed and his abbilty not questioned to the extent it was when he played.  Good sides make average players look ok.

As you suggest just being of AFL list standard is something most of us here haven't acheived.  Good on Oscar and I think when his footy days are over, he'll have a lot to be proud of.  Very glad he got this further oppertunity.

I reckon he plays fwd for Freo. Tabenar is cooked

he is a good mark and kick but never got a run of games due to injury at the blues

Was a battler.

Foot skills were non-existent and it was always heart in mouth feeling anytime he was near the ball.

He will get some games at Freo because they are a rabble.

O Mac was actually a very good kick.

LOL stop it

Using the ball under pressure and 15m chip passes are two totally different kicks

There was a time during the current Melbourne cycle that goes back to before the premiership when the club was the toughest to beat in the fourth quarter. The Demons were not only hard to beat at any time but it was virtually impossible to get the better them when scores were close at three quarter time. It was only three or four years ago but they were fit, strong and resilient in body and mind. Sadly, those days are over. This has been the case since the club fell off its pedestal about 12 months ago after it beat Geelong and then lost to Carlton. In both instances, Melbourne put together strong, stirring final quarters, one that resulted in victory, the other, in defeat. Since then, the drop off has been dramatic to the point where it can neither pull off victory in close matches, nor can it even go down in defeat  gallantly.

  • CASEY: Footscray

At twenty-four minutes into the third term of the game between the Casey Demons and Footscray VFL at Whitten Oval, the visitors were coasting. They were winning all over the ground, had the ascendancy in the ruck battles and held a 26 point lead on a day perfect for football. What could go wrong? Everything. The Bulldogs moved into overdrive in the last five minutes of the term and booted three straight goals to reduce the margin to a highly retrievable eight points at the last break. Bouyed by that effort, their confidence was on a high level during the interval and they ran all over the despondent Demons and kicked another five goals to lead by a comfortable margin of four goals deep into the final term before Paddy Cross kicked a couple of too late goals for a despondent Casey. A testament to their lack of pressure in the latter stages of the game was the fact that Footscray’s last ten scoring shots were nine goals and one rushed behind. Things might have been different for the Demons who went into the game after last week’s bye with 12 AFL listed players. Blake Howes was held over for the AFL game but two others, Jack Billings and Taj Woewodin (not officially listed as injured) were also missing and they could have been handy at the end. Another mystery of the current VFL system.

The Demons head back out on the road in Round 10 when they travel to Queensland to take on the reigning Premiers and the top of the table Lions who look very formidable. Can the Dees cause a massive upset? Who comes in and who goes out?

Wayward kicking for goal, dump kicks inside 50 and some baffling umpiring all contributed to the Dees not getting out to an an early lead that may have impacted the result. At the end of the day the Demons were just not good enough and let the Hawks run away with their first win against the Demons in 7 years.
