Hmmm I don't know. When did Richmond win 3 flags in 4 years and when has there not been a 100 goal kicker in over a decade.

Tom Lynch laid 23 tackles from 19 games in 2020.
 

Definitely not elite pressure numbers.

Big men have a role to play, but it's secondary to making aerial contests and kicking goals.

What ever the case maybe I can see the filth knocking on Weidemans door next year.

Mmmmm,** I often think of Hawkins, Franklin, Kennedy, Darling, Westhoff, Lynch, Brown and Reiwoldt as high defensive pressure forwards, and when I do, I slap myself in the face and remind myself what the [censored] they are there for. 

1. If you can, mark it...do your best to kick straight.

2. If you can't, halve it

3. When you halve it, as much as possible do it in favour of your forwards.

4. If you can't do that... (we have metrics on your aerobic capacity)...gas yourself out in the first 15 minutes of Qr1 with intense bursts of speed (not looking at you Sam Weiderman) and do feck all for the rest of the match.

5. Slap in the face...Scratch 4 - use your body to smash the backmen physically, stretch them, dummy lead, allow your smaller forwards to wreak havoc.

Just saying, Luke Jackson is out of contract end of next season. Wouldn't think it's wise to trade Weid.

 

Look, I understand @DeeSpencer's concerns, but this doesn't need another thread. This discussion has been had, at length, in the Ben Brown thread.

I think it's relatively clear we're going for Brown to partner with Weid, not to replace him. If it doesn't work in 2021, DeeSpencer will have a field day reminding us all about this thread, but I'm with the vast majority who believe the Brown-Weideman forward combo can work.

Pretty sure the only reason Viney stayedwas because of loyalty. Why play for Melbourne when you can win a flag at the cats

I love the Weid and think he will become a great player for us, but I had to laugh watching his highlights....if the Ben Brown highlights were anything to go by some posters would have us believe that that was just more staging for frees and lots of double grabs.

Look at the star-studded 1-5 for Pressure Acts this year!

2 of those guys are ruckmen, the other 3 all played a varying amount in the ruck at times. Tom McDonald had 33 pressure acts against North in a game where he rucked a decent amount and also when North's backline were a mess at inviting pressure.

 

Anyway you slice it, a forward line of Brown, Weid and Jackson is pretty hard to nullify.

I hope we can get another crumber to help out.

That will not be the case. Nathan Jones stayed during the dark periods because he was confident of a turnaround. This is the challenge when you are inside the machine as your view is skewed. 

Viney is staying, loyalty is one reason but he is confident of future success. I hope that he has chosen well.

The area that it leaves us vulnerable in is ground ball rebounds, so we really need to compliment Brown's signature by bringing in a competent small forward to partner with Kozzie.

Mark my words cat will not win a flag with dads army, GWS made a grand final 2019 where are they now, I will tell you how next year goes, with a full season with full games, Geelong top 4 halfway through next year, then form will go slowly done until they enter finals in top 4 but no one is afraid to play them, the walking sticks will come out, just as it did the second half of the .GF.

One way or another by the end of next year we'll know if Weid has it or not to be a consistent good player.
