Ben Brown thread on Demonland site to go over 120 pages. Still a few weeks to go

But only about 5 pages of that is actually useful information.

Our own Lachie Hunter thread has understandably gone cold.  Heard he might be seriously considering the warmer climate with a 2020 Preliminary finalist.  He is a gun player, no doubt, and will be only 26 yo when the 2021 season starts.

If it's the Suns, then it makes sense why they are not interested in the expensive Treloar.

could be replacing mitchy robinson on the wing at brisbane

Not a Preliminary finalist ... implication is Brisbane.

Sorry didn’t see Preliminary Final mentioned. Just assumed Suns as that was the rumoured likely destination.

This is absolutely rumour only but my Geelong contact reckons they have been in constant dialogue with Alex Rance for several months. Shaun Grigg is the conduit. Rance is currently living in Portarlington and keen to have another crack in the AFL.

Could be complete BS as the text I saw claims interest in Isaac Smith is only a smokescreen...

I have heard whispers of a possible trade.

Nothing confirmed ( a long way from it) and information is very thin. I did hear it from two different people.

TMac/VdB packaged with a 2nd round (this year or next) for their first round 2020.

No idea where this originated.

For who's first? GWS or Essendon?

With which club?

That would value both players as only a few spots upgrade in the draft. Obviously if true, a player hoped for in the draft and salary dumping.

Sorry.

The club I heard involved was GWS

That would be Williams compo pick 10? Adelaide have GWS's first round pick 9

Or the Cameron one

Would be a shame to lose AVB but I would take that deal and run

I wonder how much of the salary we’d be taking into next year for the package

Need 10 or lower to get McCrae  if that's the target.

Cameron might get matched, in which case Cats may meed to give up 13, 15 and maybe 20. Or a 3 way deal, eg cats get Jezza, GCS get 13, 15 and 20 (which will get pushed out further with academy bid matching), GWS get 5

Daniher at pick 7 is a joke. Cameron is worth 5, easy.

i imagine AVB is on decent coin coz sydney offered him the same length deal at the time iirc?

with jones going on, already a stacked midfield and sparrow and jordon pushing through i have no issues with him leaving and we all know where we stand with tmac, but giants dont seem too keen? favouring jesse

5 and change I would have thought. Cats got two 1st rounders, p24 & p37 for Kelly, p57 & a ‘20 third round pick in return. Cameron is getting close to a mill a year with a trigger for 6th year. The length of deal probably means they could match as there’s theoretically room to load in back end of deal.

A fun read!

I like this time of year when the rumours run thick and fast.  Whilst I’m sure many/most won’t pan out, none of them seem outside of the realms of possibility.

Sounfs like Sydney are very keen on getting a tall forward in.

Is that because buddy is fading fast?

Would be surprised if he went across the other side of the country, being a local boy, unless there are no other offers.

Wow, would be a decent pick up for the dogs.

Any other info you're heading @demons11. Any word on Brodie Smith? or other tid bits you got?

I am assuming our moves will be based on if Tmac stays or goes?

If you’re asking questions and want serious answers, might I suggest that you don’t ask on a strictly rumour thread.

I get your point,

but I am not asking for fait accompli information, I am interested if there is anything @Demons11 has heard around the traps

  • WHAT’S NEXT? by The Oracle

What’s next for a beleagured Melbourne Football Club down in form and confidence, facing  intense criticism and disapproval over some underwhelming recent performances and in the midst of a four game losing streak? Why, it’s Adelaide which boasts the best percentage in the AFL and has won six of its last seven games. The Crows are hot and not only that, the game is at the Adelaide Oval; yet another away fixture and the third in a row at a venue outside of Victoria. One of the problems the Demons have these days is that they rarely have the luxury of true home ground advantage, something they have enjoyed just once since mid April.

  • REPORT: Gold Coast

From the start, Melbourne’s performance against the Gold Coast Suns at Peoples First Stadium was nothing short of a massive botch up and it came down in the first instance to poor preparation. Rather than adequately preparing the team for battle against an opponent potentially on the skids after suffering three consecutive losses, the Demons looking anything but sharp and ready to play in the opening minutes of the game. By way of contrast, the Suns demonstrated a clear sense of purpose and will to win. From the very first bounce of the ball they were back to where they left off earlier in the season in Round Three when the teams met at the MCG. They ran rings around the Demons and finished the game off with a dominant six goal final term. This time, they produced another dominant quarter to start the game, restricting Melbourne to a solitary point to lead by six goals at the first break, by which time, the game was all but over.

  • CASEY: Gold Coast

Coming off four consecutive victories and with a team filled with 17 AFL listed players, the Casey Demons took to their early morning encounter with the lowly Gold Coast Suns at People First Stadium with the swagger of a team that thought a win was inevitable. They were smashing it for the first twenty minutes of the game after Tom Fullarton booted the first two goals but they then descended into an abyss of frustrating poor form and lackadaisical effort that saw the swagger and the early arrogance disappear by quarter time when their lead was overtaken by a more intense and committed opponent. The Suns continued to apply the pressure in the second quarter and got out to a three goal lead in mid term before the Demons fought back. A late goal to the home side before the half time bell saw them ten points up at the break and another surge in the third quarter saw them comfortably up with a 23 point lead at the final break.

  • POSTGAME: Rd 16 vs Gold Coast

The Demons did not come to play from the opening bounce and let the Gold Coast kick the first 5 goals of the match. They then outscored the Suns for the next 3 quarters but it was too little too late and their season is now effectively over.
