Should be an option for nil all draw or COVID cancellation (kidding --- sort of).

Pains me to say but I think the Cats will roll the Tigers. I can't pin my finger on it but the Tiges haven't shown the same hunger this year. Cats just keep keeping on. I'll turn the telly off at the siren as I refuse to watch Scott's smug face hold up the cup.

First Goal? Mitch Duncan for some value for money at $34.

Norm Smith? If the little Master even has a sniff of a decent game and the cats win he is a shoe in. Paying $21 too. Lock it in Eddie.

Don't really care but I'm hoping Brisbane wins

I was pinning all my hopes on them as they were the least offensive options of the Prelims.

You get the feeling the Cats have their name on it this year.  easily accounting for teams recently and in great form.

its one last push from the old brigade selwood, Hawk, Taylor, Danger etc.     hopefully they fall off a cliff sometime soon

couldn't give a rats though. at least its a night game so I'll be so drunk I either won't watch the game or won't remember it

Don't be surprised if a few cats suspended after the game- Selwood being one of them!

Hopefully the rain is insane and they lose the ball.

the sprint race might be the highlight of the day

as long as not won by cats or tigers

That being the case dc it suggests the rest of the day will be crap.

I usually look forward to the Grand Final but this year it is not there. I feel flat about it. The whole year has been a [censored] up.

Must say I'm quite hoping for lightning and the game is postponed.

Very 2020

Well put your money up - back g Th hem in the Granny

Why is this at night? Covid isnt around at 7.30?

I have a strong feeling this is the precursor for all gfs .

Goodbye old timeslot. Wait and see.

8 finals appearances and first GF for danger. Terrible record.

Part of me wants the Cats to lose as if they win, it would vindicate all the glory hunters that have joined them over the years. When I say part of me, I mean 99.9%

So it’s GF Day, guess I’m gonna crack my first can around 11am like usual. Then just 8 hours til the bounce.

if someone could let me know who wins that would be great

Much more than a part, I would love nothing more than for them to lose by 100+ points and be utterly humiliated.

Will be the start of my 6th decade of no flags & watching other supporters celebrate.. hve only experienced gf twice which ended poorly by 1/2 time.......

I really want to see both of these teams plummet to the depths for a decade or so.  Would have preferred a port/Bris GF rather than these two teams. Whatever happens, the outcome will be insufferable.

Highlight of the footy calendar.

No. It’s definitely not.  It’s another sad day and year that we count to say it’s 56 years since we won a flag. Now the longest drought of the AFL clubs.  We see others celebrate and this year, have two clubs with multiple recent premierships. It sucks !!!!!

Surely the Demons (and Saints) supporters  deserve the chance to experience Premiership glory.

One thing to always take from the grand final is the players that succeed in grand finals.  They are not soft, light footballers.  It’s the blokes who love the game. They lift.

There’s no rebuild garbage left.  It’s now. It’s 2021. It’s no excuses. It’s running through brick walls.  Bring 100% intensity or get out.

The dominant storyline coming out of Round One for Saturday Night’s clash at Optus Stadium centres on the influence of the big men. The spotlight naturally falls on two elite ruckmen who, five years ago, shared the stage in Melbourne’s memorable premiership triumph.

The compromised AFL fixture will get another test this week with the first lot of teams getting a bye after only two matches. Despite this Round 2 starts off with two cracking games as the Hawks host the Swans at the G on Thursday Night and then on Friday Night the Crows host the Bulldogs at Adelaide Oval. Who are you tipping this week and what are the best results for the Demons?

  • THE STATS FILES: St. Kilda

As part of the effort to trim the runtime of the regular podcast, we’ve been looking at which segments could be reshaped without losing what makes them valuable. One segment that naturally came into focus was Binman’s Stats Files. Not because it isn’t important; quite the opposite. It’s become such a substantial and much-loved part of the show that it deserves a little room to breathe.

  • REPORT: St. Kilda

One of the big stories of the AFL off-season was the spending spree of Melbourne’s Round 1 opponent, St Kilda. They splashed out heavily, first to retain Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera - the hero of last year’s epic come-from-behind miracle victory -turning him into a $2 million man. They then effectively took out an expensive overdraft to recruit a string of expensive players from other clubs. It was a risky investment strategy and, although it’s still early days, it certainly failed to pay off in Sunday’s season opener, with much of the glitter turning to fool’s gold.

Never in doubt!!! In Steven King’s first game at the helm of the Melbourne Football Club, the Dees outlasted Saints in a wild, momentum-swinging thriller at the MCG, running out 13-point winners.
