West Coast facing weeks of quarantine even if they lose final due to Magpies’ ‘dirty club’ status

https://www.foxsports.com.au/afl/afl-finals-2020-west-coast-eagles-in-quarantine-wa-border-rules-collingwood-elimination-final-dirty-club-latest-news/news-story/6d39178a8724706d067e96885b0e0707

Don't really have a sensible point to make here, only that is it only now that West Coast have worked out that Collingwood are filth?  I would have thought that washing with pleanty of disinfectant was necessary pre-COVID, so quarantine does seem like a smart option after playing against Collingwood regardless of what the WA government requires.

What a marvellous incentive to win.
this could be a game to watch.

my interest in these Finals is almost zero

Could not be much lower than mine SWYL. what a load of crap this is they have all been in QLD without any problems so why?

One of the things this Virus has shown me is that having 6 states calling the shots shows how poorly serviced we are by all these state governments. WA must be the silliest lot of all. They give sporting teams a hard time and then complain bitterly when the AFL moves to QLD.

It's a close run race.

For those who think Australians would never elect a far right Nationalist Government this epidemic has certainly been a wake up.

Fancy cutting off Tweed Heads from the Gold Coast or Wodonga from Albury.

I may have to avoid the finals simply because I cannot stand another unthinking commentator thanking Queensland for "saving" the AFL.

Gives Meth Coke real incentive to win.

i have no problem with the WA Govt attitude.
Andrews should have done the same back in April, and we would not be in this [censored] position in October

How many international travellers were Western Australia taking at that time? Basically none. They just left it for the other states to cover the risk (mainly VIC and NSW), and then they can blow smoke and beat their chests and say how well they did.

I’m not saying the Victorian government did a good job, in fact I’d say it’s be a minor miracle if Andrews saw out his full term off the back of this, but it’s all well and good for them to arrogantly proclaim that they have been so good and slam these tough measures down.

The AFL should’ve given them the middle finger and played all finals in Queensland, that would’ve solved WA’s quarantine issues.

Pates you’re forgetting the Mining industry workers. Many of them Fly in Fly out.
WA were always going to hardball their situation

Totally different situations to Andrews.
we should have gone Hard in March/April like NZ, but loosened up

We are still paying for it

i reckon Andrews will stay on until Christmas and then wave goodbye

Every government on the planet, whether they be national or regional make their decisions through a political prism. It's just how it is and it's no different with this virus. However, there are three in the western world whose decisions I think have been purely political and when combined with their total ineptitude for the job has seen their people and economy suffer enormously. They are England, the USA and Brazil. By and large everyone else at least seem to at least want to do the right thing, despite getting some things wrong.

Was he even governing at the time SW?  Apparently he has no recollection of anything at all, in particular the day to day running of the entire state.

A bit harsh i reckon

The Hotel Quarantine fiasco caught them unawares. It would have caught the  government of any political persuasion out because there simply WERE NO protocols, nor were there historical precedents. The Ruby Princes fiasco is an example of this. Because the Press in this fine land is mainly owned by Rudolfo, we only hear about the fiasco of Dictator Dan.The Murdoch Press also totally ignores the fiasco the Aged Care sector has become under the watch of the so-called Liberals, where pigs like Abbott and Bolt inform us that it's only the 'olds' who are dying, what's the problem? Can you imagine how much more Andrews would have copped it if he HADN'T imposed the strict measures we now face? He was stuffed if he did, even more stuffed if he hadn't. In the meantime, privileged wankers like Newman and the Karins from Brighton make merry on Herald Sun.

Dan “I forget” Andrews.

If Andrews is 'I forget', I'd hate to have to come up with descriptors for Morrisson, Dutton, Abbott, Turnbull - our very own 3rd World NBN hero - and as for the ranting of O'Brien and Smith in Melbourne, well, what can a sand man say?

Tim Smith MP is a spoilt little child, if he rolls O’Brien for the Lib Leadership, look out.
Dan has made some shocking decisions this year, i think he will walk at years end. But please we cannot be ruled by Tim Smith MP

He is a Demon supporter too, so he may frequent here...

is this a footy board or a politics whingefest?

Thought it was about WCE and Collingwood. Silly me!

What does Tim Smith MP say that is incorrect or wrong? He's outspoken and says it as it is. Hard for some to take.

Meanwhile we have another bloke still in a job who's been responsible for a debacle, takes no responsibility for it, throws a minister under the bus, the entire state is locked down, yet he's able to just continue on...

not disputing what Andrews hasn’t done.
But Tim Smith MP as a Leader...?

No thankyou. I have been reading that little mans bile for years

Victoria deserves far better

Q: Mr Andrews.  Was Jenny Mikakos right to resign?

A: Sorry, I don't remember who she was.

Despite a spirited third quarter surge, the Demons have slumped to their worst start to a season since 2012, remaining winless and second last on the ladder after a 39-point defeat to Essendon at Adelaide Oval in Gather Round.

It’s Game Day, and the Demons are staring down the barrel of an 0-5 start for the first time since 2012 as they take on Essendon at Adelaide Oval for Gather Round. In that forgettable season, Melbourne finally broke their drought by toppling the Bombers. Can lightning strike twice? Will the Dees turn their nightmare start around and breathe life back into 2025?

  • PREVIEW: Essendon

As the focus of the AFL moves exclusively to South Australia for Gather Round, the question is raised as to what are we going to get from the  Melbourne Football Club this weekend? Will it be a repeat of the slop fest of the last three weeks that have seen the team score a measly 174 points and concede 310 or will a return to the City of Churches and the scene where they performed at their best in 2024 act as a wakeup call and bring them out of their early season reverie?  Or will the sleepy Dees treat their fans to a reenactment of their lazy effort from the first Gather Round of two years ago when they allowed the Bombers to trample all over them on a soggy and wet Adelaide Oval? The two examples from above tell us how fickle form can be in football. Last year, a committed group of players turned up in Adelaide with a businesslike mindset. They had a plan, went in confidently and hard for the football and kicked winning scores against both home teams in a difficult environment for visitors. And they repeated that sort of effort later in the season when they played Essendon at the MCG.
