What player with inside and  outside and all side ball getting  and delivering skills has Carlton got that we would be interested in?

Aside from getting half their side.

Ben Brown's being pushed out the door and is uncontracted. Different scenario.

I'm talking about being linked in general.  Whether you're pushed put or not.

I wouldn't underestimate Clarrys management here, smart to get in there early with another team " Interested" they may be interested, but that doesn't mean Clarry is, and if JM and co are worried about that it might bring about an early, significant contract extension offer.

I'd love to see us attempt to lock Clarry in long term before round 1 if we can.

Thanks for clarifying. Lots of Chinese whispers at this time of year.

It's a bit of a problem on Demonland all year 'round. I've lost count of the amount of people that come on and say something they've completely misinterpreted in the press.

An absolute must, mate.

A slight correction if I may. The AFL site mentioned Carlton were asking about Clarry, Hunter & Ollie as part of the plan to get players in. Further into the discussion when pressed who the third in would be they said Carlton were lowering their aim for a player  of a lower grading ie an A lister or B+ rather than an elite to fill that 3rd spot. Tis year they don't have the bargaining chips in draft pics and you only have to look at the outlandish request made by Essendon for Saad.

I agree but very doubtful Clarry would sign long term. If I was him I’d be thinking, what happens if I sign a 5 year deal and then we we finish 14th next year and Goody is sacked.

viney signing would help but I’d be happy with a 2 yr extension

How so with this? Riley Beveridge mentioned that Oliver, Hunter and Wines had all been linked to the Blues in recent weeks. To me that's interpreted as the Blues definitely showing an interest and asking the question. But as they go on to say, Oliver would be commanding more then they would be willing to spend.

Oliver won't go anywhere this year. But won't stop clubs at least asking the question.

We are a poorly performing outfit. Forward and midfield coaching is sub-par. Game day coaching and game plan not up to scratch. Players are not delivering in particular our much vaunted midfield unit. We are not getting the best from our midfielders. Pure and simple. Coaches and players are equally responsible imv.

Clayton is hugely talented but he is not blameless. His body language has been poor at times, he’s over hand balled and his kicking has let him down. And yes, I think he has been selfish. I don’t for a second think he’ll go to Carlton this year but he might go next. He seems like the type of character who wants success and might leave if he feels it won’t happen at MFC. I have zero intel on this just my opinion. Plus we live in the age of free agency. Players will test the market.

There is plenty for Clayton to work over the off season. With another solid pre-season and some proper coaching I think he can be a star of the comp. But he needs to knuckle down.

The best way of course to scotch these types of rumours is to become successful. It’s about time this club got its act together, got some elite coaching talent into the club and finally deliver on promises. I’m sick to death of spending every off season listening to platitudes from the club about what they are going to do. I want to spend an off season praising them for what they did for a change.

Over to you Pert.

Word is that Clayton is uncoachable

Just like the De Goey story?

Im not having a go at you dazzle just think news has been slow in the AFL trading space and they need to fill space.

Will be interesting to see though if there is smoke there is fire.... no real details have been tabled about Oliver but as we've seen from Chook in Perth, he is upset with something.

It could be as simple as Olivers management gauging market value or it could be Oliver is upset.

If he does move i hope it's this year. His worth will be the highest this year.

In saying thay good clubs het good players to stay. We will see what happens

There is no smoke in regards to Oliver fake news is not smoke, ok I will make smoke, Bont is unhappy he did not win the BnF,

Not talking about you mate, it's just a general theme of some Demonlanders posting speculation without properly engaging with what has been reported.

Still a non issue.  It sounds as though this Beveridge bloke has taken three blokes who have been mentioned online and run with it.

Still nothing to see here.

From who?

I haven't seen any evidence that he's uncoachable.  I doubt that the coaches in 2017 (B&F), 2018 (runner up) and 2019 (=B&F) thought he was uncoachable.

Not sure about that. The entire midfield unit has under-performed which suggests to me coaching is part of the problem.

Put a five-year deal in front of him now that's at least a third greater than his current vice-captain. I hope that's what all this fuss is about. I hate player managers, as they commonly don't have their players' best interests in mind. Take the $450,000-10% cut and [censored] the right off. Seriously? Oliver was a fat little country [censored] when he joined us, and then got done drink-driving. We made him. He can get a new contract with the onus on him of delivering us a flag. He is my first love, but I'm feeling feisty with all this contract bull-[censored]. He can be an all-time club-champion if he wants to. I believe.

He’s not blameless for this years failure. I’d prefer if Clayton knuckled and focused on his kicking, impacting the scoreboard and leadership rather than sooking.

Having said that there’s no way he leaves this year. Carlton are dreaming.

he made the AA squad for God sake

he was AA 2 years ago. he was 5th B&F this year. He needs to take a leaf out of Trac's book. IF he does the sky is the limit

How do you know its a contract situation? He's still contract until the end of next year ...

Clarry Choo Choo would do well to aspire to the Lofty standards of a Dangerfield!! Sadly, unless Miracles occur, I cannot see it under Goodwins Regime!!

Without a Brendan Mccartney-type proven developer of talent in the club I fear for the next crop also coming in like Jackson, Sparrow and Rivers. We had an alledgedly A-Grade list in 2017 onwards and I don't want any further waste from here.

This year has seen journos make up even more [censored] than normal, as most of them have been stuck in Melbourne with no direct access to players, coaches etc. Still have the same amount of space to fill so just writing anything and everything.

I think we should get Michael Voss  in as our midfield coach If he is available. Surely he could lift our mids a level or two.

Tracs improvement may well be the benchmark for players to aim but that is more on an individual level.

Voss would bring a new dynamic to the group which would be a great result IMO.

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
