Wagners set to be delisted.

Both have seemed like really hard workers and well liked teammates.

Feel like it might be more these 'middle of the road' players that pay the price more for the list reductions. IMO priorities will be stars and then cheap backups.

It's the right call, on both fronts.

J Wagner didn't do too badly in his two games this year but he's a limited footballer who hasn't really developed beyond what he initially showed in his debut year in 2016.

Good luck to them both in their future endeavours.

42 games for the number 42. A solid penultimate outing against the Saints.

I feel for Dunkley - COVID may have really screwed up his chances to hone his craft at VFL level.

Hard to not feel sorry for these guys given they didn't really get a chance this year due to the lack of VFL and basically no continuity in training. But that's the world we live in unfortunately, lots of people out of work and that's just the way it is.

Not disagreeing with the decisions at all, all 3 are relative no brainers from the club's POV, and there will be more to come as well I assume.

Best of luck to the three of them. The Wagners worked hard and got the most out of themselves IMO.

Dunkley didn't get much of a chance due to COVID, but I never felt he had the attributes to make it regardless.

Very generous assessment.

Aside from trading options there are Interesting decisions ahead for those on rookie list (Bennell, Chandler, Brown, Lockhart and Bradkte) - Retain, Upgrade, or Delist?  Interesting also re retirements (Jones?  Jetta? KK?) and long term injury (Neita) do we retain on main list or drop to Rookie?

Its a tough time, i get angry at the players i get angry at the club but after it all settles, I love the club and hate seeing players depart. The Wagner boys looked like great fellas, popular teammates and they had a red hot dip, good on them. Dunkley got an opportunity which is more than lots of people, he should be proud.

I think there will be 3 more to go shortly and then they might sit on it for a while. Im convinced they will try and get something for Oscar.

You'd think there would be a few players who will be delisted after they are shopped around.

With Josh Wagner gone there is an opening for the Demonland Sponsorship.  In 2017 I had a choice between Wagner and Harmes and chose Wagner.

If their contract is up at the end of this year then why would other clubs trade for them?

They would just pick them up as delisted free agents.

Good luck to them all! According to footywire we've still got another 20 guys out of contract, I'd say the rest might be waiting for list sizes etc. to be determined first. Obviously Fritter, Viney, Hibberd and a few others will be playing AFL, but there's still be 12 or so who could be a little nervous.

Silly me. You are correct.

Most years we keep 1 or 2 guys in limbo depending on the outcomes of the trade period.

When you add in list sizes still up for debate and probably a 1-2 player swing on those negotiations that’s 4 spots.

Add in the draft class surely being one of the most difficult to assess of the professional era and it’s a lot of uncertainty.

I hope no player wants to be delisted but at least these 3 have some certainty. It might be a rough time for half a dozen more.

    TRAINING: Wednesday 19th February 2025

Demonlander The Analyser was the sole Trackwatcher out at Casey Fields today to bring you the following observations from this mornings preseason training session. Training  was at Casey today. It consisted of a match simulation for one half  and then a free choice activity time. Activities included kicking for goal,  aerial , contest work etc. I noticed the following players not in match simulation Jack Viney  running laps and looks fine for round one . I think Kolt looks like he’s im

    TRAINING: Wednesday 12th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the scorching morning heat to bring you the following observations of Wednesday's preseason training session from Gosch's Paddock. HARVEY WALLBANGER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Absent: Salem, Windsor (word is a foot rash going around), Viney, Bowey and Kentfield Train ons: Roy George, no Culley today. MATCH SIM: Friday 7th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. Rehab: Jake Lever and Charlie Spargo running laps.  Lever was running short distances at a fast click as well as having kick to kick with a trainer. He seems unimpeded. Christian Petracca, Kade Chandler, Shane McAdam and Tom Fullarton doing non-contact kicking and handball drills on the adjacent oval.  All moving freely at pace.  I didn’

Demonland Trackwatchers were out in force as the Demons returned to Gosch's Paddock for preseason training on Wednesday morning. GHOSTWRITER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Kozzie a no show. Tommy Sparrow was here last week in civvies and wearing sunnies. He didn’t train. Today he’s training but he’s wearing goggles so he’s likely got an eye injury. There’s a drill where Selwyn literally lies on top of Tracc, a trainer dribbles the ball towards them and Tracc has to g

THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
