Ruminating on this weekends scenarios, the Bradbury opportunities we may have and the whims of the football Gods...

So figured it was time for a poll!

Go Demons!

Very confident GWS will get it done tonight. Have won 5 and drawn 1 of their last 7 v the Saints.

A normal smirh intervention should have been an option.

I'm confident

I think someone said we need a 50 point differential, in our game and theirs, to bring Saints % below ours and a win by us of course.

Wonder how their 7 million dollar El Capitan will go.

They are playing for finals, after all.

GWS by 29 tonight

Dees by 56 tomorrow

We make it in easy on %.

And then to top it off Freo beat the Dogs on Sunday.  Dees finish 7th and play Collngwood in the Elimination final

I like it P2?J

I think Ive seen this film before.

Saints to lose.

Dees to win. But not enough to give us the % we need.

Therefore Saints to win.

Dees to lose.

Intermission.

2021

Havent I seen this one?

This is the sequel.

Like godfather two a rare example of the sequel being better.

I voted that GWS will win and we will win but not make up the %

It would be so nice though if for once another team can be on the receiving end of a huge choke and miss out on finals by less than 1% getting us in.

I was resigned to missing finals after the Freo loss, so even if we win tomorrow and miss out, it won't be unexpected.

We had the opportunity to cement a spot in the eight and basically render this last round game a moot point as we would have already secured a finals spot, but we don't like doing things the easy way.  It's always the hard way as a Melbourne supporter.

This is where my Demon supporter paranoia comes in. I can envisage a situation where we're gifted an opportunity only to let it slip. The signs are there - articles that Stringer is fat, Woosher's last game and so on and so on. I think i need help.

I have this strange confidence that things will pan out well for us and we'll not just play finals but win one also.  As a follower since 71 Im never confident about the dees so its an unfamiliar and  unusual sensation ...could it be a new form of delusion that Im not used to? can it be treated?

Dees to finish top 4.

Yes and no..in that order

I fear for the state of Demonland should Melbourne roll over against Essendon or not win by enough if the opportunity presents. With a probable late start next year that's a potential eight months of serious bad vibes on here.

The period between round 1 and 2 was bad enough. We've had a tough year and we've also blown our chances - but we're also still in a development phase thanks to our seniors being shot. I think we'll get the win but narrowly miss out on other results.

Surely, for all the [censored] we MFC supporters suffer, the ducks have to line up .....once.

Is that hoping for too much ..... just [censored] once!!!

You're being exceptionally greedy there BBO. There's more suffering to be had. That's a whole lot of self - flagellation or so I've been told

Someone mentioned last week on here if the Giants win by even 1 point at least we will know what needs to be done tomorrow. I’d much prefer that than having to wait for Crows/Eagles ‘17’ Part 2 on Sunday night.

If it does come down to Sunday night, I’m hoping the Cairns weather brings the Dogs handball/flick throw game undone.

Shades of 1987 in this - our captain/ex captain #2 in his last season (presuming this for Jones), who had carried the club on his shoulders through dark times.

Needing other results to go our way.

Don't write us off just yet.

I'm tipping the saints to lose, they have been poor.

what happens against the bombers is anyones guess, bombers winning by 6 goals and Joe kicking 6 wouldnt surprise me. We should win easily.

The weather is dry so that is a positive as we play better in the dry especially during the day with no dew and we scoring should be easier for %

The dogs are in form so a Freo win is unlikely. tonight is our only real chance imo

Coniglio has a blinder tonight- Giants romp it in

And for the Dees- Kysaiah starts clucking in the goals, Lever has no dropped marks inside defensive 50, Melksham pulls his finger out and we go all the way

No doubt you are on the money as usual RTG!

I must have had .....  a moment...... as they say. I shall thrash myself immediately.

20% chance of rain on Sunday in Cairns. Was hoping for a wet night.

Assuming we win tomorrow (but we don't leapfrog St Kilda) and the Dogs win, it won't hurt as much that WC V Adel 2017 game because at least this time we upheld our end of the bargain by winning a game we should have in the last round.

I'd actually back us to win a final too if we make it. Something to with the lack of expectation...

  • NON-MFC: Round 06

The Easter Round kicks off in style with a Thursday night showdown between Brisbane and Collingwood, as both sides look to solidify their spots inside the Top 4 early in the season. Good Friday brings a double-header, with Carlton out to claim consecutive wins when they face the struggling Kangaroos, while later that night the Eagles host the Bombers in Perth, still chasing their first victory of the year. Saturday features another marquee clash as the resurgent Crows look to rebound from back-to-back losses against a formidable GWS outfit. That evening, all eyes will be on Marvel Stadium where Damien Hardwick returns to face his old side—the Tigers—coaching the Suns at a ground he's never hidden his disdain for. Sunday offers two crucial contests where the prize is keeping touch with the Top 8. First, Sydney and Port Adelaide go head-to-head, followed by a fierce battle between the Bulldogs and the Saints. Then, Easter Monday delivers the traditional clash between two bitter rivals, both desperate for a win to stay in touch with the top end of the ladder. Who are you tipping this week and what are the best results for the Demons?

What were they thinking? I mean by “they” the coaching panel and team selectors who chose the team to play against an opponent who, like Melbourne, had made a poor start to the season and who they appeared perfectly capable of beating in what was possibly the last chance to turn the season around. It’s no secret that the Demons’ forward line is totally dysfunctional, having opened the season barely able to average sixty points per game which means there has been no semblance of any system from the team going forward into attack. Nevertheless, on Saturday night at the Adelaide Oval in one of the Gather Round showcase games, Melbourne, with Max Gawn dominating the hit outs against a depleted Essendon ruck resulting from Nick Bryan’s early exit, finished just ahead in clearances won and found itself inside the 50 metre arc 51 times to 43. The end result was a final score that had the Bombers winning 15.6 (96) to 8.9 (57). On balance, one could expect this to result in a two or three goal win, but in this case, it translated into a six and a half goal defeat because they only managed to convert eight times or 11.68% of their entries. The Bombers more than doubled that. On Thursday night at the same ground, the losing team Adelaide managed to score 100 points from almost the same number of times inside 50.
