Great plan in theory. But sadly TMac can't seem to do those things any more.

The brittleness came from the mids not taking a man, they key backs all kept their respective opponents very quiet

Who played on Daniels, kicked 3 and gave away another he could have kicked!

Well it wasn’t Smith, May, Lever or Tomlinson

Is there anyone on Demonland who doesn't think we stuffed our season up in Cairns?

You've said you're after balanced discussion, but you don't seem to show any balance in your own posts.

Would have thought Baker did more than enough last night to hold his spot.

As usual, I don't agree on your assessment of Tomlinson. In a season where instability and a lack of cohesion has been as detrimental to our performance as anything else, I don't know if I can agree with swapping Tomlinson for Wagner (two games) or Hore (zero) at this stage of the year. Not the time for experimenting.

Agree

Baker definitely stays in for me, did plenty and provides some pace

As does Tomlinson, he played an important role in covering the switch attempts for GWS, and made a crucial contest with 5 mins to go as GWS looked to switch out of defence

Ess are setting themselves to win next week:  This week they left out Hooker (omitted) and Hurley (injured but not on their injury list) and didn't bring in Francis, Laverde or Bellchambers who were all 'Test'.

Wouldn't be surprised to see the majority of them come in next week.

They lost 20% of their membership this year and will be keen to end the season on a high note - that means our scalp.

They will give it all they have and we need to be ready.  Can't mark it down as a win for us.

Please, just put Lockhart back in the side.

I haven't gone through this whole thread, but there is a lot of hate for Melksham on here.  He has been playing a defensive midfield role the last 2 weeks and did a great job on Taranto last night who figured to be a key inside mid for the Giants with Coniglio out. Add to that he is just about our best kick in a team with poor foot skills, there is no way I can entertain dropping him. Stick him on Merrett next week, and we'll be good.

I think we'd be crazy to bring Jackson in after a long lay-off, especially considering it's likely our last game for the year. Instead, give him every opportunity to get fit and hungry for a brilliant 2021.

If he's fit let him run around and get ready fir a Final!
Locky for Nev is a must.

Tommy fir Browm msybe although Browny leafs well but isn't really a goal kicker

Weid needs a big one also.

So we can still make the finals, but the next game is meaningless.

Righto champ lol

Yes DR D what in the medical / football field constitutes an upset

NOT GWS beating Saints who have lost last 4 out of 5 !!!

Well this is different we have a 7 day break and time to recover, that will be a bonus.

Minimal changes maybe Jetta injured and bring in Hibberd or Lockhart. Brown was good and late in the third he went down back and took some telling marks when GWS looked to be getting on top. I suspect Smith was on the bench or up forward so he stays. Cover for McDonald Tiipenwooty down back would have been Nev's role. Jackson had some Hamstring tendon damage so it was always going to be a 6-8 week injury so I wouldn't rush him back. Not sure who I would drop for Sparrow and Harmes so if it aint broke don't touch it

ANB fir Harmes or Sparrow msybe Tom

Plus It's their coaches last game however if and a BIG IF, we can get a good start then they may throw the towel in. We need to hit the ground running early. A negative for me is it is on the GC and not at the Gabba where we play well. We do not play Metricon well.

But Smith looked very shaky until the last quarter.

The last line tall has been a problem all year and I thought Smith did ok in the last 2 weeks ,He doesn't get the cheap possessions from the 20 metre kick to the boundary so his numbers are low.But he is genuinely strong in the contest and doesnt give up the easy possession or have multiple kicked on him like his predecessors so i see no reason to drop him .

I think Weid needs to be in the discussion for a spell. He’s done absolutely donuts 3 games In a row now.

Harmes for ANB

Lochardt for Jetta

How melksham still gets a job is beyond me

His current output is half what it was

Harmes for ANB

Hibb for Jets IF fit

T-Mac for Weid provided he only plays from the square with a bit of forward ruck relief for Maxy.

Ins. Harmes Lockhart

consider if fit - Sparrow Hibberd

Outs. Neale-Bullen ? Jetta (shoulder?)

on the edge - Hunt  J. Smith

bombers dangers are

1- mids  Shiel. Merrett. Smith.  Parish.  Need to tag Shiel

2- forwards. Daniher stringer and mcg-tip-wuti.  May gets Daniher and probably put Tomlinson on stringer

3- backs. Saad for his run and Ridleys marking.  Need Melksham to “tag” Saad and have someone contest with Ridley across marking half back as he has the most defensive marks across the last month.

Assume Hooker and Heppell miss again.

Have to win it no matter what the Dogs do

Sorry forgot about LJ.... straight in for Weid if fit in preference to T-Mac

Would prefer to see LJ and Weid in together again, they worked brilliantly.

Possibly yes Ham.  In that case you would need an out though.  Frittata, Hunt?

The team played well and worked for each other. I wouldnt make any changes unless needed through injury or rest.

Bringing in an out of form player like Harmes doesn’t make sense to me

  • PREVIEW: Geelong

"It's officially time for some alarm bells. I'm concerned about the lack of impact from their best players." This comment about one of the teams contesting this Friday night’s game came earlier in the week from a so-called expert radio commentator by the name of Kane Cornes. He wasn’t referring to the Melbourne Football Club but rather, this week’s home side, Geelong. The Cats are purring along with 1 win and 2 defeats and a percentage of 126.2 (courtesy of a big win at GMHBA Stadium in Round 1 vs Fremantle) which is one win more than Melbourne and double the percentage so I guess that, in the case of the Demons, its not just alarm bells, but distress signals. But don’t rely on me. Listen to Cornes who said this week about Melbourne:- “They can’t run. If you can’t run at speed and get out of the contest then you’re in trouble.

  • NON-MFC: Round 04

Round 4 kicks off with a blockbuster on Thursday night as traditional rivals Collingwood and Carlton clash at the MCG, with the Magpies looking to assert themselves as early-season contenders and the Blues seeking their first win of the season. Saturday opens with Gold Coast hosting Adelaide, a key test for the Suns as they aim to back up their big win last week, while the Crows will be looking to keep their perfect record intact. Reigning wooden spooners Richmond have the daunting task of facing reigning premiers Brisbane at the ‘G and the Lions will be eager to reaffirm their premiership credentials after a patchy start. Saturday night sees North Melbourne take on Sydney at Marvel Stadium, with the Swans looking to build on their first win of the season last week against a rebuilding Roos outfit.
Sunday’s action begins with GWS hosting West Coast at ENGIE Stadium, a game that could get ugly very early for the visitors. Port Adelaide vs St Kilda at Adelaide Oval looms as a interesting clash, with both clubs form being very hard to read. The round wraps up with Fremantle taking on the Western Bulldogs at Optus Stadium in what could be a fierce contest between two sides with top-eight ambitions. Who are you tipping this week and what are the best results for the Demons besides us winning?

  • CASEY: Gold Coast

For a brief period of time in the early afternoon of yesterday, the Casey Demons occupied top place on the Smithy’s VFL table. This was only made possible by virtue of the fact that the team was the only one in this crazy competition to have played twice and it’s 1½ wins gave it an unassailable lead on the other 20 teams, some of who had yet to play a game.

  • REPORT: Gold Coast

In my all-time nightmare game, the team is so ill-disciplined that it concedes its first two goals with the courtesy of not one, but two, fifty metre penalties while opening its own scoring with four behinds in a row and losing a talented youngster with good decision-making skills and a lethal left foot kick, subbed off in the first quarter with what looks like a bad knee injury.
