The Herald Sun is reporting that Collingwood and Mihocek are miles apart on a contract renewal. As a latecomer to the AFL this contract clearly needs to be a big payday for him, but I can't imagine he is holding our for ridiculous money.

We clearly lack a link between our midfield and forward line, and have done since Hogan left. Mihocek is a hard worker and could be a decent option at a reasonable price. Not sure what we need to give to Collingwood, although they owe us plenty for Kennedy, Dawes and Lumumba.

Garry Lyon is a big fan of Mihocek and encouraged his former club Melbourne to make a "polite enquiry" to his management.

He (Sam Weideman) needs a bit of support through there, so I would ask the question about Brody Mihocek, my very word I would

I like the play. But we need to develop LJ. So if we do get Mihocek - how do we play Mihocek, LJ, Weed in the same forward line. Coz lets face it LJ is not playing ruck with Gawn in the team.

Mihocek is the type of forward you can play with other talls, especially if one is as mobile and decent below the knees as Action

i'm sorry but Luke Jackson isn't a forward. he is a ruck.

It doesn't take a doctor to figure out he's not rucking over max next year

correct. which is why mihocek would be chosen before LJ

you'd rather not play LJ at all than the 3 tall forward line?

Yeah. he is a ruck, not a forward and I don't think we can carry 3 talls in our forward line with the poor crumbers that we have. We can't rely on pickett or Spargo to even find the footy, let alone kick goals.

Mihocek > Weideman

It would be amazing to land him, but I doubt Collingwood would let him go. Offer him $600 k over 3 years and see if we get a bite.

That's garbage 'Dr'...our forward line worked so much better with him in it.

He would be a great addition.  Gathering that Pies have to pay a few like Moore/ De Goey.  The pies would not want to lose him!   Pay him 100k more a year and get him in!

'dazz', I think he is a 3rd tall type.

He would be competing with Melk, Fritsch and Hannan..and would be an upgrade in his attack on the ball.

He's a bit taller but still really not a KPF.

Not sure he's where we should be spending our chips.

Agree. I'd do a direct swap

As I mentioned in the Gunston thread, he’s an upgrade on Melksham/Fritsch/Hannan in every facet of the game. Worth asking the question.

It’s surprising how many people are happy to settle with those 3 as our Pockets/Flankers.

We should always be looking to get better and Mihocek brings a lot more physicality and consistent effort than those three, plus he actually kicks goals.

Definitely a player we should target. Tough, good mark and kicks straight. Applies pressure too.

I like Gunston more, but Mihocek is out of contract and this is his chance to set himself up financially.

Weid has kicked 19 goals in 11 games.  Mihocek 17 in 14 games.

Having said that, Mihocek would be a handy addition to our forward line, although I think if you sniffed around enough it would just force Collingwood to up their offer and re-sign him.

Pies have just signed Grundy on a mega deal and have De Goey and Moore out of contract. We should chase Mihocek, De Goey and Moore, as the Pies can probably only afford two.

Very good player, tough as.

Why would Collingwood trade him he is their only forward. Persist with Jackson, Weideman and Petty it will pay off.

Salary cap

A player you can count on to give 100% effort every single game. Why wouldn’t we enquire. An upgraded Vanders.

love him. be absolutely stoked if we got him.. straight shooter and tough. don't think the pies will wanna get rid of him though.

  • REPORT: Fremantle

For this year’s Easter Saturday game at the MCG, Simon Goodwin and his Demons wound the clock back a few years to wipe out the horrible memories of last season’s twin thrashings at the hands of the Dockers. And it was about time! Melbourne’s indomitable skipper Max Gawn put in a mammoth performance in shutting out his immediate opponent Sean Darcy in the ruck and around the ground and was a colossus at the end when the game was there to be won or lost. It was won by 16.11.107 to 14.13.97. There was the battery-charged Easter Bunny in Kysaiah Pickett running anyone wearing purple ragged, whether at midfield stoppages or around the big sticks. He finish with a five goal haul.

  • CASEY: UWS Giants

The Casey Demons took on an undefeated UWS Giants outfit at their own home ground on a beautiful autumn day but found themselves completely out of their depth going down by 53 points against a well-drilled and fair superior combination. Despite having 15 AFL listed players at their disposal - far more than in their earlier matches this season - the Demons were never really in the game and suffered their second defeat in a row after their bright start to the season when they drew with the Kangaroos, beat the Suns and matched the Cats for most of the day on their own dung heap at Corio Bay. The Giants were a different proposition altogether. They had a very slight wind advantage in the opening quarter but were too quick off the mark for the Demons, tearing the game apart by the half way mark of the term when they kicked the first five goals with clean and direct football.

The Dees are back at the MCG on Thursday for the annual blockbuster ANZAC Eve game against the Tigers. Can the Demons win back to back games for the first time since Rounds 17 & 18 last season? Who comes in and who goes out?
