Agreed. Gifted games.
Lever has been okay but the rest are dead space

Yep.

It is. It’s cultural. It’s what we do.

Im struggling to get the enthusiasm up to watch the second half. Why bother? Nothing has changed

That vision of the last minute showing our players jogging around was damning. They’re pathetic.

Then they just looked at each other.  Laughable!

How can we play smart footy for several weeks and then suddenly revert to the dumbest team in the comp? It’s not just playing soft unaccountable footy and poor execution but it’s one dumb decision after another by multiple players! Totally outsmarted by the Swans that quarter. Defence pfft who needs to pick up a man?

That might give us a chance. Sydney changing their tactics is our only hope, because sure as [censored] we won't change ours.

We were off, intensity wise, in the Port game. That was somewhat understandable: we had a four day break, they had either 5 or 6, and they're on top of the ladder.

There is no excuse today. The Swans played the same day we did (so we're a few hours behind not a day or two), and they're in the bottom 4. They're also missing Franklin, Heeney, Mills and Rampe.

To have players jogging around in the first half of a must-win game with finals on the line would be unfathomable if it wasn't something we've seen repeatedly before.

Should have switched to man on man and put an extra or two in the backline to stop the onslaught of goals with the wind

Did we have any plan for and against the wind?? Didn't seem to change. The swans certainly did

Goodwin is [censored] clueless and needs to go. Time for GB to back up his words with actions

Harmes has been pathetic  all year.

They don’t pick in form, that’s the problem.

Guys like Bedford, Baker and Jetta have played well in the twos last few weeks.Who do they bring in?
Harmes, ANB!!!

They keep Wagner and OMac!!

These guys wouldn’t get a game with North, let alone a finals aspirant.

We long time Melbourne supporters know we dont come from this far back to win very often.  We know this result so far is predictable.  We've seen it many times. But I've backed us at $6 because there has to be a time MFC says enough is enough and pulls itself off the canvas.  DO IT!

I don't know how many times Goodwin and co have to hammer home the point of consistency, but they just don't get it.

I thought we'd drop the Freo game, but I was worried about this too. Whenever we look like we're moving in the right direction, this group switch off.

Yep x 1000

You are such a dumb [censored] troll.

Lever has been in our best about 8 times this year.

Wagner's played one game! And was decent! It's not even possible for him to have got a game "on the back of poor games".

It is not an individual player's fault, it is a poor team performance

Correct. Coaches are responsible for how teams play. Cohesion, confidence in each other, knowing your role and turning up and being able to absorb pressure.
That is the job of a coach. He has done nothing to fix or stem this disaster which you could see coming after two minutes.

Not for the first time we have folded under perceived and physical pressure.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
