I am really annoyed that a number of teams are now announced on Friday.  Thursday team selections go back to forever. Who can forget Lou Richards, Jack Dyer & Bob Davis on Thursday nights.

Its annoying & makes tipping difficult. Alan Richardson mentioned that the team had been selected yesterday afternoon so there are no excuses for the delay.

You sound cranky, franky. Don’t worry, it grinds my gears and gets my goat too.

We’ve played on a Wednesday and then again on the Sunday, it’s obviously an odd season and we’re lucky to have had one at all. I’ll take team announcement on a Tuesday at 3am.

Life could be worse, Franky. We could be in the midst of a pandemic.

We play on Thursday next week, when should that team be announced, and for the game the Monday after that? You've just to get used to everything this season being done differently.

Exactly.  Life is one long groundhog day.  At least I could look forward to 6.30pm Thursday.  Now even that has been taken from us.

Most supporters are too young to have seen them and maybe those who were old enough are now in cognitive decline. So, in short, the answer to your question might be "everyone".

As long as we win that makes my life better than the Pandemic CF.   A win is the best medicine.

True except that when we lose it brings on several days of football depression.

Yes CF I was actually limping around the house by Monday morning.........!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Its just for this season...  wasn't really any point o going back to Thursday night teams just for a few weeks as the 'Festival of Footy' is starting back soon.

And presumably it impacts on betting. For this reason alone, I expect normal service (ie, Thursday night teams' announcements) will be resumed next year, or, a least when we get back to a "normal" football season.

yesterday's game, dorks vs bummers would have been interesting with team announced after game had finished  ?

There's always a comedian about isn't there.

Obviously for games being played on or before Thursday they should be named 24hrs before the ball up but for all other games the teams could & should be announced Thursday - like I said Richardson let slip that the team had been selected last night.

I'm with you on this @Cranky Franky

No teams announcement on a Thursday night really messes up the natural rhythm of my week.  And it provides something more to argue about on Demonland for an extra day or so.

Totally understand why it wouldn't be announced on this day for games that arn't played on a Friday - Sunday, but I've been looking for the team on a Thursday night the past few weeks and come up empty handed and disappointed.  It's not like it's ever anything like the final team on a Thursday anyways, so I don't just see why they didn't stick with normal practice.

With the team selected, I'd like to know who's going to kick any goals for us this week as T.Mac and Fritsch are getting dropped and the selection committee can blame themselves for Harmes getting the flick as they and many of us have got no idea as to why they've kept playing him in the backline when clearly he's needed as a lock down player in the midfield. Oh that's right we don't tag anymore. Especially when the opposition runs 4 or 5 premium mids deep. Saints will have a field day as were slow as a wet week. Oh Lordy.

Well, we can't drink the water. ?

I agree it would be nice if games on Fri, Sat and Sun were announced on Thurs but in a season like this what's the point? It becomes a rule that doesn't make sense unless every single game announced the teams 2 days in advance. So if you're playing a Tues night game it's Sun, unless it's Fri it will be Thurs, because you know, we have to have our memorable thurs announcement ?

If I were a selector these rules would seriously be pointless.

  • NON-MFC: Round 06

The Easter Round kicks off in style with a Thursday night showdown between Brisbane and Collingwood, as both sides look to solidify their spots inside the Top 4 early in the season. Good Friday brings a double-header, with Carlton out to claim consecutive wins when they face the struggling Kangaroos, while later that night the Eagles host the Bombers in Perth, still chasing their first victory of the year. Saturday features another marquee clash as the resurgent Crows look to rebound from back-to-back losses against a formidable GWS outfit. That evening, all eyes will be on Marvel Stadium where Damien Hardwick returns to face his old side—the Tigers—coaching the Suns at a ground he's never hidden his disdain for. Sunday offers two crucial contests where the prize is keeping touch with the Top 8. First, Sydney and Port Adelaide go head-to-head, followed by a fierce battle between the Bulldogs and the Saints. Then, Easter Monday delivers the traditional clash between two bitter rivals, both desperate for a win to stay in touch with the top end of the ladder. Who are you tipping this week and what are the best results for the Demons?

What were they thinking? I mean by “they” the coaching panel and team selectors who chose the team to play against an opponent who, like Melbourne, had made a poor start to the season and who they appeared perfectly capable of beating in what was possibly the last chance to turn the season around. It’s no secret that the Demons’ forward line is totally dysfunctional, having opened the season barely able to average sixty points per game which means there has been no semblance of any system from the team going forward into attack. Nevertheless, on Saturday night at the Adelaide Oval in one of the Gather Round showcase games, Melbourne, with Max Gawn dominating the hit outs against a depleted Essendon ruck resulting from Nick Bryan’s early exit, finished just ahead in clearances won and found itself inside the 50 metre arc 51 times to 43. The end result was a final score that had the Bombers winning 15.6 (96) to 8.9 (57). On balance, one could expect this to result in a two or three goal win, but in this case, it translated into a six and a half goal defeat because they only managed to convert eight times or 11.68% of their entries. The Bombers more than doubled that. On Thursday night at the same ground, the losing team Adelaide managed to score 100 points from almost the same number of times inside 50.
