S May looks  to have   A A  written all over  him.  In fact he stands out and  has become a human wall down back.

He can't be avoided anymore.  Great year Stevie.

Possibly the most important player in the side .We would have lost both last nights game and the Saints game without him.Controlled the zone with complete assurance against quality opponents.  Our only defender where you don't have your heart in your mouth when he charges towards a contest .An AA certainty .

Just about my all-time favourite Demon, and I rarely care much for defenders. An absolute Goliath on defense, who can also intercept, drive and kick like an elite midfielder. The best part is he has been here 5 minutes but plays as if he's personally experienced all the awful moments us fans have over the years. By all reports a massive leader off the field too. Pick 6 was unders!

Surely a big chance at 2021 captain

Vice captain if Viney leaves, maybe. They won't take the captaincy off Max

I’ll now be annoyed if he doesn’t make it. He’s been exceptional.

I had my doubts and especially when he presented for pre-season out of shape. But to his credit he's come good. He should be AA. I wouldn't swap for any other defender in the game. Harris Andrews maybe but thats it.

Not only is May playing exceptionally well - he has such a strong presence down back that he's likely paying other dividends that won't come up on any stats sheet - e.g. pushing key forwards further away from the goals and messing with opposition structures.

On the Sunday Footy show Matt Lloyd casually called him the AA full back while discussing the game.

If he misses playing his first final and misses his first AA team it will be shattering.

Absolutely May ahead of Andrews.  He takes the best forward every week and restricts them.  He gets 15-20 possessions mainly contested every week. He spoils and inspires the defence.  He is our defensive captain.

Not even in the squad. What a joke!!! He is better than Jonas, Weitering and Andrews. Seriously had a fantastic year.

AFL AA Selectors are a JOKE

What games were the selectors watching???

He beat every key forward.  Everyone.  What more could he have been !?!?!?

I’m ANGRY

So who gets the FB nomination then? Andrews, Weitering, Jonas?

It’s completely BS. I’d pick May in my team ahead of any of these blokes. Ffs.

no probs with andrews, weitering, and jonas being in the squad...all worthy

but may and goldstein should definitely both be in the squad

pendlebury missed a quarter of the season, danger was mostly good not great this year; duncan was just about the cats' best, along with guthrie

some selections based on 'names', it would seem

A bit disappointing that Steve May missed out on at least making the All Australian squad of 40.

However, I remember Russell Robertson as a specialist forward (compared to Brad Johnson who was selected) missed out on the All Australian side in 2005 when he had an excellent year and that was mystery too.

What. A. Joke.

I knew this guy would be an awesome pick up for us, and that he has been this year.

May is truly top tier.

  • DRAFT: The Next Generation

It was not long after the announcement that Melbourne's former number 1 draft pick Tom Scully was departing the club following 31 games and two relatively unremarkable seasons to join expansion team, the Greater Western Giants, on a six-year contract worth about $6 million, that a parody song based on Adele's hit "Someone Like You" surfaced on social media. The artist expressed lament over Scully's departure in song, culminating in the promise, "Never mind, we'll find someone like you," although I suspect that the undertone of bitterness in this version exceeded that of the original.

  • AFLW REPORT: Brisbane

A steamy Springfield evening set the stage for a blockbuster top-four clash between two AFLW heavyweights. Brisbane, the bookies’ favourites, hosted Melbourne at a heaving Brighton Homes Arena, with 5,022 fans packing in—the biggest crowd for a Melbourne game this season. It was the 11th meeting between these fierce rivals, with the Dees holding a narrow 6–4 edge. But while the Lions brought the chaos and roared loudest, the Demons aren’t done yet.
