One of my best mates bought a house in Wagga Wagga. He works there and has a permit. His wife and 3 kids have been declined entry into the state. They have sold their house in Vic and it has settled.

They aren't even allowed to go into quarantine for 14 days.

The Queensland govt probably made it a condition when initially agreeing to the hub so I think the pretence of a decision is for optics and ratings purposes. Optus and Adelaide oval are fantastic venues and deserve to host at some stage so I think post covid the ALF should consider rotating. Personally, I would love to head inter-state for the final and make a weekend of it.

If we finish 6 (highest we can probably finish) then we get a “home” game against 7. Not sure Alice (or other regionals) is an option so do we want to play at the Gabba, Metricon or Adelaide Oval (if AO is an option for non-SA teams)?

I’m much happier to be enjoying the freedoms as opposed to many of you poor  buggers over there in the eastern states. 
I don’t get why people are so willing to lay the boots into WA over a bloody GF.

You are spot on mate about the measures against the pandemic and that’s not the arrogance I meant. Among my WA (WC supporting) family was full expectation that it would be handed to them. That arrogance is pretty typical of how they enjoy their footy, but it could also just be my family ? Apologies if I offended. My parents live in the other WA now, in the US. Bloody awful not knowing when you can see them again.

It's every comment that he makes comes with a snide remark that seems to denigrate the AFL. No doubt he's done a good job with the virus but he has a strange attitude IMO.

QLD and WA's measures early on did anything but prop the rest of the ecomony up. Reading this post it could be taken that Victoria just one day opened the doors and had a party when the reality was Andrews was just as conservative as the other premiers albeit a terrible quarantine mistake. The reality is that this state that usually does a fair bit of propping up the economy itself has a much more densely populated CBD and inner suburbs than WA and community transmission has spread quicker. Comparing how each state has performed during this ordeal and saying things like 'how come you couldn't be like us" doesn't really help. I'm not saying that's what you're doing but we Vics get a bit sick of the arrogant tag too.

The Premier has confirmed GF Eve will be a public holiday. 

No GF, no GF parade, no fan fare so what do we need a public holiday for (not that we needed one when it was first introduced).

Given current circumstances I'm shocked.  As if there hasn't been enough business (large and small) lockdowns, school lockdowns etc etc.  As if there hasn't been enough damage to the economy.  As if we haven't all had enough of our homes and 'leisure' time.

Maybe he thinks there won't be many people back at work anyway so he may as well make himself popular.  For mine it is irresponsible.

DAndrews really doesn’t seem to be hitting the mark this year. I mean in a year where the economy has been beaten from pillar to post and there being no parade or anything what good does that public holiday so except push up costs and losses for small businesses? Chances are there’ll still be restrictions in place on seeing each other. 

I’ve been pretty happy with his time as premier but this year has been off the mark. Can’t see him surviving the next election.

Perhaps it's viewed differently from across the Nullarbor but to us it's always seemed that WA and SA have a hatred for Victoria that knows no boundaries. Certainly on a sporting front. This might have been justified in the time when the VFL poached all of the best talent from the WAFL and SANFL but those days are long gone. Where we've always viewed it with indifference we still see it play out over there with the incessant booing of the opposition on a match day (particularly in Perth) and the tense and intimidating atmosphere experienced by visiting fans in both cities. 

For me the reaction by Victorian football fans to the announcement that the GF won't be at Optus Stadium is perhaps just giving them a little return serve. Mark McGowan quite rightly has put his citizens ahead of football in his job as premier which as it happens has played out well on both fronts. I think his media skills do need a bit of a polish though and on the evidence so far I think he would have enjoyed putting in the knife and turning it should they have been successful in getting the GF. A once in a lifetime opportunity to kick a Vic that would that have gone down well with his constituents. That all said I still think they would have got their prize if they could have guaranteed a 60,000 sellout.

Yup, agree with all of that LH. It would have been a visiting team's nightmare if they came up against the coasters but that's beside the point.
