I wonder if Jetta is in trouble? I thought he was okay last week.

They could bring in a McDonald/Tomlinson/ANB for Vanders and Jetta.

So no Stef Martin.....that is a big blow for the Lions. Oscar mcInerny to ruck?

I'd leave Jackson out and bring in Jones and Neal-Bullen. If its going to be a slog we want runners.

I’d like to see us trial 3 talls but I’m not sure this is the week to do it. With it meant to be damp on the weekend I think a ground level player like AvB is probably the better choice, for me that’s Jones.

I back Weid and LJ in to play with confidence this week, Tom’s got a fight on his hands.

Nah leave in Jackson to stretch them. Emergencies Jones, Neal-Bullen, Tomlinson and Smith.

Tomlinson could come in to man Robinson on the wing.

Why do we need Tomlinson when Harmes can play on the wing.

Harmes may have his hands busy with Neale.

I don't understand how Lockhart seems to be an automatic selection. He doesn't get involved much and has given away goals every week with his mistakes. Am I missing something here? Give me Jetta any day.

Pretty much as expected. I would have Jones, Jackson, Brayshaw and Jetta from that extended interchange.

Just with Smith.... I just do not see him as a defender after the couple of goes he had earlier this season. He had a game or two as a forward but I am just not sold on him and do not get it with him. Is there a possibility he might be tried on the wing?

I might be crazy but I wouldn't tag Neale. He's an accumulator his possessions don't hurt. If he gets off the leash play Viney on him who can also tag very well. Keep Harmes on the wing on Robinson.

I'm not that fussed if it's Jackson or TMac. Perhaps the best wet weather footballer if it's going to be wet. Jackson will be a gun. His ground ball work is already better than TMac's but he's not really clunking them yet and a wet slog wont help. I think we'll need Jackson over the next month to give Gawn a decent chop out - not just a couple of minutes here and there. So, I'm happy if Jackson misses and comes back in on Thursday.

Just saw the Gold Coast weather forecast

80mm approx predicted over the next three days

Not our favourite playing conditions.

Jones in for AVB and probably T Mac for Jackson

I'd say he is getting a run as the coaches know more than us.  While he might not get much of the pill, he is clearly doing his job defensively and therefore he keeps his spot.  Our defensive unit last week was terrific so I can understand why they don't want to mess with it.

As for selection, there aren't too many surprises.  Tomlinson may get the nod for AVB, while it wouldn't surprise to see T Mac back in for Jackson, even though that would be harsh on Jackson as he played well last weekend.

If it's wet I'd go Jackson out Jones in as well.

I like Lockhart and I presume Goodwin's giving him an extended run. He's making mistakes by getting caught with the ball but I think there's already improvement. He looks for and hits targets, has vision and is creative. I like that he looks inside and doesn't do the auto bomb down the boundary line. His lack of stats might be because he's given a job.

I don't like that he gets caught with the ball and that he has no (or less of a) tank but both are improving. Smart footballer, quick enough and not afraid to tackle.

Massive blow for the Lions with Martin out. Could potentially see Jackson dropped which would be a real shame.

Looks like it will be wet so can’t really see them playing 3 talls if that’s the case

For T Mac or just having Weed as lone fwd you reckon?

Why? Robinson’s an overrated plodder

Ill never forget the comments he made when playing for Carlton years back, that he enjoyed playing Melbourne because he thought we were soft

Big blow for them you’d think

Big O is a competitive beast tho

Parental guidance recommended, not suitable for viewers under 15. Slaughter likely.

I watched last week's game again and couldn't see the turnovers from Lockhart that everyone talks about.  I saw them in our match v Geelong (or maybe it was v the Tigers).  He doesn't get a lot of the ball but has all the attributes to be a good small defender.  I thought there was a couple of plays last week that he made the right gutsy calls to leave his opponent and impact the contest which lead to a score for us - I think he wouldn't have been credited with a possession though.

With the setups of most forward lines, there's room for him and Jetta at the  moment.

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.
