The slightest inkling of opponent pressure and Brayshaw becomes a huge liability. He and Oliver come from the same School For Lazy Kickers.

Thank god

Very lazy at times and just doesn't have the ugency or fitness level to play at this level for more than a quarter or so.  Has cost us so many goals over the journey.

Has his moments but too few and far between and murders too many of his non-pressured disposals by foot.

Trade at year's end while there's still value for mine.  We need an inside / outside mid with class who can finish.

Don't know why he's rated on here so highly. Mentioned in 2018 that he was extremely lucky to come third and got hounded down by people on here

Boy did we need that.

Great vision from Trac and then nice skills from Jackson as well.  Good stuff.

If they can play like this.  What happened in the other effin games!!

Jackson good skills

Fabulous stuff from the young fella all day.  Shows his inexperience at times but to be expected and no issue there.

Looks the goods!

Does Vanders ever hit a target?

I've been a fan, but he has missed pretty much every target and even dropped a few marks.  Might be time to send a rocket up him by dropping him from the side.

I love AVB, but gee his kicking has been terrible today.

Back on the hussle there

Again under no pressure Vanders kicks to a Hawk.

AVB’s disposal also terrible today.

I like him for the toughness he brings to the side, but he suits the chaos ball well - better at bombing it to a contest than trying to hit someone lace out.  He rarely does it.

Short quarters. The players should be not be fatigued, Ling.

why would Fritta play on from there?  Just dumb.  Need to pull him up on that in the review.   Solid field position then has to kick back from whence it came.

But he is getting to where the ball is

  • REPORT: Richmond

The fans who turned up to the MCG for Melbourne’s Anzac Day Eve clash against Richmond would have been disappointed if they turned up to see a great spectacle. As much as this was a night for the 71,635 in attendance to commemorate heroes of the nation’s past wars, it was also a time for the Melbourne Football Club to consolidate upon its first win after a horrific start to the 2025 season. On this basis, despite the fact that it was an uninspiring and dour struggle for most of its 100 minutes, the night will be one for the fans to remember. They certainly got value out of the pre match activity honouring those who fought for their country. The MCG and the lights of the city as backdrop was made for nights such as these and, in my view, we received a more inspirational ceremony of Anzac culture than others both here and elsewhere around the country.

  • CASEY: Richmond

The match up of teams competing in our great Aussie game at its second highest level is a rarity for a work day Thursday morning but the blustery conditions that met the players at a windswept Casey Fields was something far more commonplace. They turned the opening stanza between the Casey Demons and a somewhat depleted Richmond VFL into a mess of fumbling unforced errors, spilt marks and wasted opportunities for both sides but they did set up a significant win for the home team which is exactly what transpired on this Anzac Day round opener. Casey opened up strong against the breeze with the first goal to Aidan Johnson, the Tigers quickly responded and the game degenerated into a defensive slog and the teams were level when the first siren sounded.
