Paddy McCartin is effectively delisted by St Kilda. Do you guys think we should recruit him for 2021 season. Seems to be over his concussion issues and wants to continue playing. Only 24 years of age.

Maybe Richardson should have some input on that matter.

BUT only if the Demons change their game style and kick inside 50 more accurately.

49 inside 50's for 8 Goals is deplorable.

McCartin could add versatility and we could swing T Mc back to CHB

It's a no from me, Burgess is a great asset to have at our club but he can't do anything for concussion issues and we've had our list clogged by Kolo helping him through his concussion issues, not interested in us taking in another unless there's a huge confidence he's out the other side.

Even so, I just don't feel it's the right move.

You forgot about what the Club did for Brayshaw.. That sinks your argument.

Dave, majority on here don't want him mate.

He's better off focusing on his health and longevity in life.

Look at the sickening affect its having on the likes of Shaun Smith, Greg Williams and the likes. I heard Jack Frost (Sams brother) on SEN yesterday talk about the lingering issues He's still having to this day, and yet he's been out of the game for 5 years.

Forget it mate, its not happening

You do not know that.  You just made that up..  The article in the Age said " he had total family support"  so do not just make stuff up just to be smart..

I do know that, I know the family. Of course they will offer support to him just as they do to his brother and the other family member in Ben Cunnington.

Dave, let it go. The info coming back to me from sources in the industry support what @drysdale demon and @dazzledavey36 are getting at - it's highly unlikely and probably very unwise for Paddy McCartin to attempt a comeback.

It's a legitimate question to ask why we wouldn't go for him based on those previous examples but that doesn't mean we should keep doing it. I'd like to give the recycling a rest for a little while and focus on development with the Pettys, Jacksons, Weids etc

He may want to play again, but his family don't think he will ever play again.

It is a lot more involved than concussion, and it has nothing to do with his diabetes either.

Don't usually go in to bat for 'drysdale' but he's been pretty consistent on this for a while now 'Ohio', it's not just something he's made up.

I just hope Paddy can get on with his life, it's sad for him that it doesn't look like football is going to be it going forward.

The sooner he can move on the better.

Good luck to the kid...

It's a different situation, we had Brayshaw on our list so we intimately knew his situation and everything that he was going through. We also did the same with Jetta so I'm well aware that the club has stuck with players suffering through concussion issues and come out the other side. But bringing on KK with his problems shows the risk you take when the player hasn't been regularly assessed by your own medicos and the inherit unpredictability when dealing with brain injuries.

Paddy might well be feeling good right now, but one knock could set him back to where he was 1 year ago. Or it could be he recovers immediately, but with long term concussion issues there is still so much uncertainty.

It was unfair for me to say KK was clogging our list, he was a cheery on top of the May deal that I could see a reason for us taking the punt and I genuinely hope he's able to recover from long term concussion issues.

A reasonable person would say that you cannot say it's Ok to deal with the concussion issues with Brayshaw which by the way started after he was recruited and say : one knock could set" McCartin back.  One could say the same thing about Brayshaw... Seems to me double standards at play.

Let me say it again David, it is not just a general concussion issue.

    BOILED LOLLIES by The Oracle

In the space of a month Melbourne has gone from chocolates to boiled lollies in terms of its standing as a candidate for the AFL premiership.  The club faces its moment of truth against a badly bruised up Collingwood at the MCG. A win will give it some respite but even then, it won’t be regarded particularly well being against an opponent carrying the burden of an injured playing list. A loss would be a disaster. The Demons have gone from a six/two win/loss ratio and a strong percentag

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an

    ALAS SPRINGS by Whispering Jack

I got the word on Saturday from someone who knows someone inside the Fremantle camp that the Dockers were pumped and supremely confident about getting the W the next day against Melbourne at TIO Traeger Park in the red heart of the country. I was informed that the Dockers were extremely confident for a number of reasons. They had beaten the Demons on their home territory at the MCG at their last two meetings so they didn’t see beating them at Alice Springs as a problem. They belie

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,
