My theory.  Facilities all there and if it turns our season around get to make Hogwarts jokes forever. Right by the headland and you could even get down to Collins beach next to the Police College for recovery swims without too much concern of public interaction.

At least there was some leadership on the plane...

I thought it was a bit rough making Langdon and Tomlinson stay on the wings.

Weldon Oval in Curl Curl (north of Manly, east of Brookvale) is the Home of the Manly-Warringah Wolves (formerly Giants for a few seasons) Australian Football Club. I played a handful of games for this club around 10 years ago. It is the only full sized Australian Rules Football ground in the Northern Beaches Region of Sydney, from Manly all the way up to Palm Beach which is 23 km to the north of where the Demons are based. Melbourne Football Club should consider training at Weldon Oval if they haven’t already made other arrangements. The only other full size grass AFL grounds in north eastern Sydney I know of are located at Acron Oval in St. Ives. on Sydney’s North Shore, Gore Hill Oval next to Royal North Shore Hospital on the Pacific Highway and Lionel Watts Oval in Frenchs Forest are now both full size synthetic fields for Aussie Rules and/or other sports.

No sugar coating. It’s going to be hard. But like the Power did, you have to be positive

*** Demonland - can we merge with Demons Winter adventure post.  Perhaps change Sydney adventure.

Another excuse for another [censored] poor effort by our coaches and players.

Most of our players are probably already doing 100km round trips to Casey for training. I don't know Sydney's traffic well enough to know how Manly to Blacktown is but it should be heading away from the city for most of it. The boys have plenty of time up there so shouldn't be an issue.

If they get free access to the beach that's a pretty good result. Certainly seem less locked down than the QLD guys.

Google Maps: Manly to Black Town

Sydney traffic, think Melbourne but worse.

Google puts it as a 50 min trip...

Lots of time for team bonding!

Another great decision by management to base ourselves in a location surrounded by rugby ovals, surf and backpackers. Played on Weldon Oval in the 90s and it is skinnier than Frankston Oval and sandier than the Sahara Desert. Biggest ground (and best surface) we played on back in those days was the one at Mac Uni. Probably got better facilities there now too. And it's a lot f*cking closer to Olympic Park than Manly.

But hey, let's just put the players up at one of the most expensive and relaxing beach hotels in Australia. They deserve it.

For a moment I thought it was Manly to Bankstown, which is almost a guide tour of every traffic snarl Sydney has to offer.

Manly to Bankstown you still have to negotiate The Spit, North Sydney and Epping Road across Lane Cove, but after that you're on freeways most of the way.  If it's 50km, the first 10km will take longer than the next 40!

So, I think we can expect a lot of slow first quarters and fast finishes during this hub time.

Afl once again sinking the boots into the club ..  you can’t be f ing serious how is this even acceptable!

So who’s getting down to scout the training?

I was thinking of it but Bankstown in Sydney traffic is not easy and I dont have to cross the Harbour to do it.

Manly to Bankstown is a total joke and would be like asking us to stay on the Gold Coast but train in Brisbane. The AFL must really hate us when they give the Hawks a ground that is easy to access.  As Little Goffy notes the first bit of the drive is a nightmare followed by some of the busiest freeways in Sydney and the traffic around the exits to Bankstown can be diabolical.

Dees treated like rubbish once again. Pert and Bartlett to speak up. They are irrelevant.  Earn your very large $$$$.

Is there a definitive list of which players are in the hub?

Not going:

Injured: KK, Nietschke, Hore, Petty,

"Players including Braydon Preuss, Oskar Baker, Josh Wagner and Corey Wagner have been left behind to conduct intensive coaching with several assistant coaches."

  • REPORT: Carlton

The text messages started flooding in shortly after quarter time. One read: “Is Melbourne even at the ground?” Moments later, as Carlton’s Elijah Hollands kicked the first goal of the second term, the Blues held a commanding 43-point lead. By then, the Demons’ only score was a behind kicked by Brody Mihocek nearly five minutes into the game. Ironically, Mihocek would also register the last minor score of the day after the game took a dramatic turnaround.
