In Round 6 we are supposed to be going to QLD to play Fremantle. Based on QLD's rules that cannot happen.

In the same round Brisbane is supposed to be coming Victoria to play Collingwood. Based on QLD's new rules that cannot happen.

Do we play Collingwood in Round 6? Fremantle have already played Brisbane so they cannot play again.

A Victorian hub is the only viable way forward imo

Not as simple as that. Will WA let Freo back into WA after being in the perceived plague ridden state.

They definitely won’t let Melb in, I dare say they may Freo to fly in and out

So any Qld side that plays a team from Vic have to quarantine for 14 days. Aren't AFL clubs in a type of quarantine anyway in that they train in secured facilities and are only allowed to visit family.

AFL are now investigating sending all Victorian teams interstate.

All sounds good but...

Check out what's happened with the Warriors.

...by the way what a class act the Storm are..

Have great admiration for Bellamy, Smith and Hoffman.

That may happen very quickly if the Qld gov't sticks to this line:  "The alteration requires that any Queensland or Queensland-based team who plays in Melbourne or against a Melbourne team in Queensland is required to quarantine after the match for 14 days if they are remaining in or returning directly to Queensland".

GCS play in Melb for round 5 and 6 and Lions to play in Melb in rnd 6 and they may not be allowed back home.  Probably hub in Melbourne.

What the AFL cannot juggle is if all the compromises mean some teams have to play another twice and others not at all.  Bound to happen.  At that point games can no longer be for a premiership, as we know it.

The AFL will probably dream up some wanky round-robin games and/or weird finals structure ala the AFLW before it was cancelled outright.

They actually play in Geelong, so I think they can avoid the new rule by just avoiding Melbourne altogether (e.g. flying in/out of Avalon).

The problems will begin to mount from there, though. We can't play Fremantle next week, Brisbane can't play Collingwood either.

And there is a third limb to Queensland's new rule: if a Queensland team plays any side who has been in Melbourne in the previous 14 days, they have to quarantine.

There is every chance the 10 Victorian teams will have to leave Victoria to keep the season going.

You could leave the Sydney teams where they are and locate one or two of the Melbourne teams there.

The relative good news for MFC is that we would not be an obvious candidate for the WA hub.

But who have the family visited with and how many open for inspections have they attended?

The AFL know that the WA teams, Geelong and Collingwood need to go into 14 days quarantine once they arrive in WA.  Good chance we will head to QLD as we haven't played the 2 sides up there as yet, plus we can play the SA sides up there as well.

What is the chance Geelong do not have to relocate?

We were playing Fremantle at Metricon Stadium in the Gold Coast hub.

That seems unlikely now.

Doesn't matter if they're staying playing and training in secured facilities. It shouldn't get out to the wider community and I'm sure they'll be tested before and after they get there, complete overreaction.

What will it take for  this season to be finally marked as a total [censored] up and cancelled?

The AFL can't afford to do that, and by extension that means we can't afford it either given we rely so heavily on AFL financial support.

Cancel the season and you can say goodbye to our club.

Sadly we need to suck it up and get on with this ****show of a season.

I'm wrong: they can't play Geelong because Geelong was in Melbourne yesterday.

This will all be very interesting.

Perhaps but look what happened when one player tested false positive.

AFL needs to keep the game alive

Fairly sure I don’t want the current game style alive, it is doing way more harm than the virus.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
