Hard to stay invested in this season.. for various reasons but we really have been the team most affected so far.

Would be a good time to get the Tigers IMO. They have been ordinary since the restart.

Boy and we have been great!!!

Once again we get screwed over, we would have beat Sydney on a smaller ground, tigers will beat us easy, this season can end already ffs

If we're relying on beating teams at the right place and time I'd say our season was already [censored].

Round 6 vs Freo in QLD surely in doubt now.

We get [censored] out of playing a winless team.

We will just get to play them in Melb now.

Not as simple as that. Will WA let Freo back into WA after being in the perceived plague ridden state.

You are correct WWSW

At some point though the season may become untenable. There is a strong possibility of further travel restrictions from the Qld govt.

Imagine if another player tests positive

It could become impossible to balance the fixture in any meaningful/ equitable way

I can see the comp being moved out of Melbourne for this season or at least for the next 6 odd weeks.

Would mean another two weeks of byes to accommodate quarantine.

The advantages of travel between non virus States plus crowds is very attractive.

Either that or the whole comp will have to be played in Melbourne...

...or maybe it moves to the NT as someone suggested a while back.

That may happen very quickly if the Qld gov't sticks to this line:  "The alteration requires that any Queensland or Queensland-based team who plays in Melbourne or against a Melbourne team in Queensland is required to quarantine after the match for 14 days if they are remaining in or returning directly to Queensland".

GCS play in Melb for round 5 and 6 and Lions to play in Melb in rnd 6 and they may not be allowed back home.  Probably hub in Melbourne.

What the AFL cannot juggle is if all the compromises mean some teams have to play another twice and others not at all.  Bound to happen.  At that point games can no longer be for a premiership, as we know it.

The AFL will probably dream up some wanky round-robin games and/or weird finals structure ala the AFLW before it was cancelled outright.

it's relatively easy now that you have three capital cities that allow crowds. The only variable is how many teams you locate in WA given the travel requirements.

Start packing Goody

A season where we get no breaks. Other teams have had the benefit of playing and knowing who they would play. A completely compromised season.

Let’s move to the NT.  Let’s get a crowd. Come on Gil.  I know you love Danger, Sel, Dusty and Nat, but show some love to the Dees.

Round 8
Dees v Kangas (Darwin)

Round 9

Dees v Saints (Alice Springs)

In Round 6 we are supposed to be going to QLD to play Fremantle. Based on QLD's rules that cannot happen.

In the same round Brisbane is supposed to be coming Victoria to play Collingwood. Based on QLD's new rules that cannot happen.

Do we play Collingwood in Round 6? Fremantle have already played Brisbane so they cannot play again.

Looking forward to a slog, Richmond to be down one player from quarter time, we win inside 50s and clearances but barely scrape 50 points. Tigers by 17.

    TRAINING: Wednesday 19th February 2025

Demonlander The Analyser was the sole Trackwatcher out at Casey Fields today to bring you the following observations from this mornings preseason training session. Training  was at Casey today. It consisted of a match simulation for one half  and then a free choice activity time. Activities included kicking for goal,  aerial , contest work etc. I noticed the following players not in match simulation Jack Viney  running laps and looks fine for round one . I think Kolt looks like he’s im

    TRAINING: Wednesday 12th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the scorching morning heat to bring you the following observations of Wednesday's preseason training session from Gosch's Paddock. HARVEY WALLBANGER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Absent: Salem, Windsor (word is a foot rash going around), Viney, Bowey and Kentfield Train ons: Roy George, no Culley today. Firstly the bad news - McVee went down late, which does look like a bad hammy - towards the end of match sim, as he kicked the ball. Had to

MATCH SIM: Friday 7th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. Rehab: Jake Lever and Charlie Spargo running laps.  Lever was running short distances at a fast click as well as having kick to kick with a trainer. He seems unimpeded. Christian Petracca, Kade Chandler, Shane McAdam and Tom Fullarton doing non-contact kicking and handball drills on the adjacent oval.  All moving freely at pace.  I didn’

Demonland Trackwatchers were out in force as the Demons returned to Gosch's Paddock for preseason training on Wednesday morning. GHOSTWRITER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Kozzie a no show. Tommy Sparrow was here last week in civvies and wearing sunnies. He didn’t train. Today he’s training but he’s wearing goggles so he’s likely got an eye injury. There’s a drill where Selwyn literally lies on top of Tracc, a trainer dribbles the ball towards them and Tracc has to g

THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
