I wish this site was as considered as the views in the OP.

I didnt shake my head at a single post.

The other footy club supporters arent as dumb as some on here think.

The Cats should be fairly confident this week, but they arent exactly OTT with their predictions.

Thumbs up to them i guess.

"What have Melb ever done - well they won a premiership in 1964 - then won their opening 8 games in 65 ( and then spectacularly crashed ) and thats about it - havent done anything since of note"

That post has particular significance. The truth hurts.

Come on Ding, you are forgetting the 1987 Night Grannie!

They share the same sentiment as me - our best is better than theirs, but our inconsistency is crippling.  That's why this week, the right match-ups will get us half way there, the other half requires us to execute.

Do that, we win.  Simples.

And then they did something that we haven't done for 56 years. They produced one of the great teams of the modern era.

Rightfully dismissive of our blokes.

The only thing that matters is what they can bring this Sunday and what they have become is fragile. We need to be able to sustain the pressure though but if we do it for long enough they will crack.

We may have been called soft for a short period but at least we weren't called the "Hand Baggers" for decades.

Apologies to "Jack Russell" just in case she is offended by that term.

Surprisingly good analysis by the Geelong supporters. Bang on.

Thanks by the way QD for these threads.

Surpisingly  interesting to read the perspectives of opposition supporters about the dees, particularly the more considered ones.

The comments about our mids not working hard defensively and us being crash and bash are spot on.

I reckon they would normally be more cocky but after losing to Carlton it can be tough!

we, on the other hand, haven’t lost since March! ?

We own the term fragile.

Havng said that even when Geeloong were winning flags I considered them fragile to an extent.
They'd blow most sides off the park in the 1st qr and then cruise to victory.
If a side could stay with them they often got the jitters late game.

not the players.... but as a footy club... off-field mostly,   which impacts the on-field.

It was percy and checker who put the Demon into the Fuchsia's.

The club prior was not aggressive, nor major winners. only occasional flags won,  in a much smaller league..  still part of Mcc.

Checker revved them up and created a winning culture; which lasted some 35 years.

We returned to becoming flowers of another name.

Its time now to revert....

When we were starting to lose our Mojo,   Kennedy was starting to kickoff his Commandos.

Smithy and Our Mojo was almost killed off by then.  stifled and suffocated,  from within our own home.

Now sadly Kennedy has passed, Smithy and Checker long gawn.  Barass nearing the end.

Back then,  it was "the dawning of the age of Aquarius",   Now we are almost fully into the new age of  'Aquarius'.    Has the past years 'of overlap',  been "the time of troubles".  it has been for Mfc at least.

Is it time for our rebirth, and resurrect our inner fire.? to put away the conservative flower of correctness, and to begin to play with sure passion, and aggression.?.!

I think it is time for us to awaken and to not feel guilty for playing like arrsewholes;  and then return to  'mild-mannered',  after we depart the field Via or corner Phone-Box at the players race.

The time is nigh,  as we enter the New-Age.

Amazing that they've seemingly turned on Scott...would not have picked that.

check out his finals record since his first year ( that team anyone could have coached that year  ) after thats he has lost like 12 of 16 finals ?

we trashed them in 2018 , should have won by 60 Plus

You mean he's coached them to 16 finals matches in his time.

Doesn't that tell you something when his best players are all aging, or retired.?

If only we were able to have played 16 finals in that time.

You know, because they've been in finals regularly,  they won't have far to climb,  as they rebuild the list and find some new stars.  They have Mo-Mentum.

no point coaching 16 when you only win 4 ( since first year ) .. rather play 10  and win 8

and yes correct they are aging badly and keep trying to top up , you can see who thats working , make finals and ....

The point is he's kept them in finals year after year,  with an aging tired list.

It's an easy step forward from that position, IF they pluck a couple of of great kids in a draft.

We on the other hand have had so many years in the bottom third of ladders,  for so many years in the past 5 decades.  It has eroded supporters and therefore,  players belief,  in our brand.  MfcSS.   It haunts us.

WE, all have to help to overcome this and that starts with us supporters, demanding more from our boards, now and forever more.

Like politicians, we cannot hand them the keys, and we go back to bed.

We have to be diligent and keep the board and admins accountable.  And less so the players,  particularly in their first 3 or 4 seasons.

I wish we had U-19's back again,  so we don't really get to see them play, mostly;  so they can just focus on their development in peace.

Maybe Goody can have a chat with some Cats supporters? They seem to be able to identify the issues that he cannot see. He clearly doesn’t believe us Demonlanders.

yes all good playing finals year after year , I'd rather win the odd grand final and miss a few years. Scott might be good at getting them nearly there but not over the line at the end , as i said rather win 8 from 10 than 4 from 16

still you're correct lets just get there for now and work on it from there . We need to build and bring back supporters and show that we can.

as for the U19 yes please bring them back , was a great feeder group and we developed our own.

What they are saying post game . . .

  • No one stands the mark and gives Blicavs an extra couple of metres before he needs to kick. Not sure Goodwin would be happy with that.
  • Crikey Melb must be absolute complete garbage. Because we are.
  • Cracks. Papered. Over.
  • Goes to show how bad Melbourne really are.
  • Massive issues that simply aren’t being addressed. Players being carried by the old brigade and a game plan that is truly awful. Talent is there but we aren’t playing to it. Chris Scott remains the major issue with this club.
  • Bayley Fritsch has an enormously punchable head. Oliver tied with Sicily for biggest [censored] in the AFL.
  • Strange season. The best teams appear to be port, lions and suns. Weird. Cats and Dees teams look super ordinary.
  • Pathetic Geelong. where do you start.
  • jeez, we won........ i don’t care how...... Demons played attacking footy and lost...... i would rather play chip chip win than run and carry loss.  Do we not remember the "beautiful losers" of the 80's-90's?
  • Gawn had 2 goals kicked on him
  • Dive Danger, dive.
  • Chris Scott time to hand over the coaching roll to Scarlett

They were very uninspiring. And rarely left second gear. We meanwhile played like we have for the past 16 months: dysfunctional, messy, and devoid of anything remotely resembling football IQ. Adelaide would have beaten Geelong today. We are bad.

    TRAINING: Wednesday 19th February 2025

Demonlander The Analyser was the sole Trackwatcher out at Casey Fields today to bring you the following observations from this mornings preseason training session. Training  was at Casey today. It consisted of a match simulation for one half  and then a free choice activity time. Activities included kicking for goal,  aerial , contest work etc. I noticed the following players not in match simulation Jack Viney  running laps and looks fine for round one . I think Kolt looks like he’s im

    TRAINING: Wednesday 12th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the scorching morning heat to bring you the following observations of Wednesday's preseason training session from Gosch's Paddock. HARVEY WALLBANGER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Absent: Salem, Windsor (word is a foot rash going around), Viney, Bowey and Kentfield Train ons: Roy George, no Culley today. MATCH SIM: Friday 7th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. Rehab: Jake Lever and Charlie Spargo running laps.  Lever was running short distances at a fast click as well as having kick to kick with a trainer. He seems unimpeded. Christian Petracca, Kade Chandler, Shane McAdam and Tom Fullarton doing non-contact kicking and handball drills on the adjacent oval.  All moving freely at pace.  I didn’

Tommy Sparrow was here last week in civvies and wearing sunnies. He didn’t train. Today he’s training but he’s wearing goggles so he’s likely got an eye injury. There’s a drill where Selwyn literally lies on top of Tracc, a trainer dribbles the ball towards them and Tracc has to g

THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
