no contact outside your approved bubble. Every players living environment has been approved.

Not sure if they are even allowed out for food shopping

Would be tough on young red blooded men. I hope their visit to their ‘friend’ was enjoyable

Its a strange thing when AFL players have to keep stricter rules than the rest of society. I just picked up daughter from her train trip home, we then went to the IGA to stock up for tonight's game, joining several other people who were doing the same... all legal I believe!

Unfortunately you’re not a multimillion $$$ industry/game (lol) supporting thousands of people ww.

whats the context behind the breach?

apologies, just saw it.

If you loose an emergency player, aren't you allowed to replace them with another?

I thought the team lists were relatively flexible until about 24hrs out from the match. Given the unusual year we’re having maybe we could ask for flexibility to make change particularly as it’s 2 players from the squad.

Guys, he’s played one senior game. There are 21 other players out there, if we can’t beat the blues without him, we’re in for a tough year.

They lost Silvagni too, it’s about the same impact. 2 goals a game.

I’m not complaining but why would Spargo get 2. What was the difference?

So you're saying multimillion dollar industries are somehow more important than me when it comes to making laws to protect the citizens from Covid 19!

Sorry to burst the bubble but it does appear so....

Spargo went to his mates, then left to go to the servo for a packet of durries and went back again.

Breach???
16 Crows players all breached the rules as well as the coaches. Their excuse? None, “we got it wrong”.  And their punishment?? Be more careful next time.  It’s ridiculous

The club self-reported.  I wonder what the AFL penalty will be for those that don't self-report?  Footballers being footballers I can see a lot more breaches coming up for all clubs.

I don't really get how they can play in the practice match? What is the actual reason for the suspension? It would make sense if it was the risk of exposing someone else and they were now isolating but this seems pretty stupid.

I would assume the difference would relate to their respective ages and level of experience in a professional football environment.

Spargo is entering his third year in the AFL- absolutely no excuse for being so blaze about the rules.

Pickett can at least point to the stupidity of youth and inexperience.

The practice matches unlike VFL are unsanctioned... you can't be reported etc etc

Aside from covid issues, I hope the fags were just curiosity or temporary lapse. I bought a pack for the first time in 5 years last night after too many beers. Had a few predictably digusting puffs and then through the packet in the bin. Bloody waste of money.

Spargo being a regular smoker might explain why he doesn't have the energy to kick it 30m!

Smoking is now solely the domain of the super-wealthy.

  • REPORT: West Coast

On a night of counting, Melbourne captain Max Gawn made sure that his contribution counted. He was at his best and superb in the the ruck from the very start of the election night game against the West Coast Eagles at Optus Stadium, but after watching his dominance of the first quarter and a half of the clash evaporate into nothing as the Eagles booted four goals in the last ten minutes of the opening half, he turned the game on its head, with a ruckman’s masterclass in the second half.  No superlatives would be sufficient to describe the enormity of the skipper’s performance starting with his 47 hit outs, a career-high 35 possessions (22 of them contested), nine clearances, 12 score involvements and, after messing up an attempt or two, finally capping off one of the greatest rucking performances of all time, with a goal of own in the final quarter not long after he delivered a right angled pass into the arms of Daniel Turner who also goaled from a pocket (will we ever know if the pass is what was intended). That was enough to overturn a 12 point deficit after the Eagles scored the first goal of the second half into a 29 point lead at the last break and a winning final quarter (at last) for the Demons who decided not to rest their champion ruckman at the end this time around.

  • POSTGAME: West Coast

Following a disastrous 0–5 start to the season, the Demons have now made it three wins in a row, cruising past a lacklustre West Coast side on their own turf. Skipper Max Gawn was once again at his dominant best, delivering another ruck masterclass to lead the way.
