Producer: "we're short about 3-4 minutes, what dribble can we use to pad out the show for a bit?"
Hutchy: "we'll I was thinking that Max Gawn's hair looked a bit strange for a first time captain..."
Producer: "done!"

I think that conversation has been had more than a few times during the lockdown, not much to talk about so create stories.

Oh my god has this side by side been done before? It is perfectly on point! ?

And the REALLY amazing thing is this . . .

He receives 900k per annum from SEN.

I wonder what real human beings earn such as Dr. Fiona Wood?

... patience Grasshopper...    Hutchy is still young,  Yet.

I believe the artist based this image on a TV Hutchy,  seen when visiting.

I still can't comprehend both Hutchy and the existence of Hutchy. I need someone to explain it to me.

I can get away with being drunk at my job, but I'm not on the TV or the radio. How does this work? Is there not HR at SEN?

Like most I think Hutchy is an attention seeker & some of his dialogue is cringe worthy, but I do agree with him on this.

Unfortunately we are under the pump big time to perform so the focus from our leaders might be better directed at the footy & winning games rather that how we look.

I'm not sure that a captain in his first year who goes out & gets a mohawk is sending the right message to the other players, coaches, supporters & sponsors etc. That's only me though.....

I’ll add a caveat that it’s ridiculous we are even discussing this.

That being said, you could mount the argument that it’s a positive thing, even from a leadership perspective.

As much as I detest Richmond and their recent success, their mantra has been about having fun out on the ground. That is the message you constantly hear from players and coaches. Jack Higgins telling a joke in the pre match huddle sets the tone for them to relax and play their natural game.

When the players see the hardest trainer and in most people’s opinion best player in the side sporting a do like that, they are reminded that it’s still a game to be enjoyed.

As an aside, whenever Kane Cornes says you’ve made a fair point, you know you’ve just said something stupid.

Trent Cotchin’s three foot high flat top is worse.  Seriously though, how is someone’s hair a news story? [censored] crazy.

Richmond  have been the benchmark for the last few years......that's the difference. Not much enjoyment more most supporters or players when you only win 5 games for the year.

please don't let a thread about a hutchy pathetic clickbait comment reach a third page..........enough already

There was a time during the current Melbourne cycle that goes back to before the premiership when the club was the toughest to beat in the fourth quarter. The Demons were not only hard to beat at any time but it was virtually impossible to get the better them when scores were close at three quarter time. It was only three or four years ago but they were fit, strong and resilient in body and mind. Sadly, those days are over. This has been the case since the club fell off its pedestal about 12 months ago after it beat Geelong and then lost to Carlton. In both instances, Melbourne put together strong, stirring final quarters, one that resulted in victory, the other, in defeat. Since then, the drop off has been dramatic to the point where it can neither pull off victory in close matches, nor can it even go down in defeat  gallantly.

  • CASEY: Footscray

At twenty-four minutes into the third term of the game between the Casey Demons and Footscray VFL at Whitten Oval, the visitors were coasting. They were winning all over the ground, had the ascendancy in the ruck battles and held a 26 point lead on a day perfect for football. What could go wrong? Everything. The Bulldogs moved into overdrive in the last five minutes of the term and booted three straight goals to reduce the margin to a highly retrievable eight points at the last break. Bouyed by that effort, their confidence was on a high level during the interval and they ran all over the despondent Demons and kicked another five goals to lead by a comfortable margin of four goals deep into the final term before Paddy Cross kicked a couple of too late goals for a despondent Casey. A testament to their lack of pressure in the latter stages of the game was the fact that Footscray’s last ten scoring shots were nine goals and one rushed behind. Things might have been different for the Demons who went into the game after last week’s bye with 12 AFL listed players. Blake Howes was held over for the AFL game but two others, Jack Billings and Taj Woewodin (not officially listed as injured) were also missing and they could have been handy at the end. Another mystery of the current VFL system.

The Demons head back out on the road in Round 10 when they travel to Queensland to take on the reigning Premiers and the top of the table Lions who look very formidable. Can the Dees cause a massive upset? Who comes in and who goes out?

Wayward kicking for goal, dump kicks inside 50 and some baffling umpiring all contributed to the Dees not getting out to an an early lead that may have impacted the result. At the end of the day the Demons were just not good enough and let the Hawks run away with their first win against the Demons in 7 years.
