Moonie’s gooney bag would likely contain enough salmonella to hospitalise a decent MCG crowd

Yes, the rabbit terrine was fake news. I was there that day.

I'm in France, and all very serious here. We have over 1000 cases (including 4 MP's), and in some areas schools and non-essential services etc. are closed and people are advised to basically stay home. Expected to go onto the next level of protection and action in the coming days.

Govt has banned any gathering over 1K people (down from 5K people a week or so ago), so sports authorities currently juggling closed door events and postponements where possible. Except that no-one's expecting this to go away soon, so postponement effectively = cancellation.

I had a long autoroute trip on the weekend, and the display signs were all carrying virus-info: who to call to find out more or if you suspect symptoms, where to get news etc. We have very effective health and social services, so people at least feel that what should be done is being done.

Bloody socialists, ay?

Here, get a sniffle and you're out of work for two weeks because no doctor will see you to conduct the test in case they catch your cold and the state health minister is mean to them.

While games could be played at empty stadiums, players testing positive to the virus could derail the entire AFL season.

Should we be concerned that Salem didn’t play on Friday due to illness? (I’m joking)

The mass hysteria is truly worrying. You now can’t get toilet paper, tissue, sanitary products are hard to come by and diapers. I have a friend who’s 4 year old kid is currently dying from cancer and he couldn’t get diapers!
People have so much worse things going on in their lives, yet we are seeing people punch on for a pack of Kleenex.

Expect round 1 to be played behind closed doors!

Government to ban large gatherings in the coming days.

Corona is out there so its about limiting/slowing as its can not be contained any longer!

The results of panic and hysteria will be far worse worldwide than the virus itself. Humans eh, weak animals.

I'm far more worried about the economic and financial ramifications of this virus, than the health ramifications if I'm being honest.

This can only benefit our Round 1 chances.

Big chance of most of that happening.

I wouldn't be surprised if the government ban large gatherings. We're at the same point Italy were when they banned most gatherings. Sydney is quickly becoming a hot spot.

Just want to say one thing to those saying it's nothing more than a flu. Sure, it has a mortality rate of about 3%, flu has around 1%. It's not that most people will have mild symptoms, it's that fact that our most vulnerable people have no way to combat it. The flu has killed more this year so far because everyone has it, but the sick and elderly can get vaccines to help build up their immunity to it. They can't with the coronavirus, with a vaccine could be as far away as 18 months. Think of all those people getting it and clogging up the health system. That's the problem; that's why health experts are worried and are putting extreme measures in place.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
