So much for the feasibility case. It is probably stored along side the football department review file at the end of last season.

We now have a proposed new site, with different building limitations or opportunities. And it seems nothing is going to happen until we get the new CEO through the door. Back to square one. At least the proposed location hasn’t changed.

If this ever gets off the ground perhaps the players can spend the 2 hours spent in their cars getting to and from Casey for each training session practicing goal kicking!!

$2.7 million in fact.

Yeah, case in point - he went broke!

So he went broke because years before he donated money to the Demons.

Are you being facetious?

I’m sure once we finally get to the stage where we just need to find the $ to get it going, many will contribute……some very generously.

I mean… I could be… it’s 50 / 50…

The Mrs doesnt like their coffee.

I go to the Servery, opposite the station for 2 reasons. 1. Coffee and service are good and you can get away from the take away traffic and 2. if they see me going elsewhere they would probably beat me with a stick.

I won't it's like backing your sisters boyfriends horse no value while the incumbents are running the show

Serious board and personell issues and an historical we are better than the rest attitude

It's a moribund club with an inflated perception of its relevance

People won't stump up because deep down nobody trusts the boys running the club

this club is so cooked, this training base situation is our number one priority right now even over our goal kicking and countless over issues why are they doing this?

Our Number one Priority should always be winning games.

That’s the main issue with this Club, Side issues take priority far too often…

once we sort this bs our results will follow on and off the field 110% !! maybe we say F it and go to waverley until it’s sorted out if this goes to sh.t cause it’s looking very much that way now :/

Essendrug have been really successful since moving to The Hanger… not.

It’s important but not the be all and end all.

If we concentrated solely on winning games, this issue would have been sorted already…

Bloody Hell... what a bunch of 🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡 at Melb.

I thought the big top at Caulfield was for kids.... maybe it is.

My God we're [censored].

I wonder how much Pert was paid as a consultant for the last 10 or so months without producing anything.

Unbelievable can see this falling over, it’s just all too hard and hinged on too many variables, so a decade since P Jackson took over we are no closer! If any site is based on gvt funding who are in do much debt good luck

Lots of talk about if Goodwin is still the right guy on Demonland and understandable given our current on field plights. I would have zero confidence in this club finding anyone better than Goodwin right now.

I would love to know what exactly Pert has been doing and how much it’s cost us. I also wouldn’t be surprised if Guerra doesn’t end up working for us. Right now we are a basket case on and off field.

If premiership cups where given for best leakers of information in the league we'd win every year. But wouldn't have anywhere to display them unfortunately

You do you @jackaub , but getting a home base built is bigger than any personnel grievances one might have with the club.

With todays announcement obviously not with some of the good old boys at the club. Its gotta be some ort of joke

Can someone with a better idea of corporate governance tell me why we would stop Guerra negotiating ahead of starting with us? On the surface it looks like it’s doing nothing but slowing things down but maybe there’s something Im missing?

At first glance I think it’s being very conservative on conflict of interest - negotiating with the MRC whilst being very involved in the industry.

For me, I think it better be declare the conflict and relevant details then get going. They can publish his diary in relation to relevant meetings in the interests of transparency and brief details of the meetings which are relevant.

On the other hand if he doesn’t start till Sept oughtn’t be be precluded from any work before then since he’s not an employee yet?

Guerra has a massive commitment overseeing the World Chamber of Commerce Conference (or whatever it is) event to be hosted by Melbourne Chamber of Commerce. I suspect the MFC has deferred his involvement in the Caulfield Racecourse developments (or is keeping him at arms length) until he is clear of this. But if you wanted to write a sensationalist article, you could frame it as The Age has.

As Superunknown has suggested, there may be other complicating things in play too.

As Garry Lyon has stated more than once, we sooo need to ferret out the leaks in this club.

Of course, it’s not the backline, you might argue and you would probably be right. It’s the boot studder (do they still have them?), the midfield, the recruiting staff, the forward line, the kicking coach, the Board, the interchange bench, the supporters, the folk at Casey, the head coach and the club psychologist  It’s all of them and all of us for having expectations that were sufficiently high to have believed three weeks ago that a restoration of the Melbourne team to a position where we might still be in contention for a finals berth when the time for the midseason bye arrived. Now let’s look at what happened over the period of time since Melbourne overwhelmed the Sydney Swans at the MCG in late May when it kicked 8.2 to 5.3 in the final quarter (and that was after scoring 3.8 to two straight goals in the second term).

  • CASEY: Essendon

Casey’s unbeaten run was extended for at least another fortnight after the Demons overran a persistent Essendon line up by 29 points at ETU Stadium in Port Melbourne last night. After conceding the first goal of the evening, Casey went on a scoring spree from about ten minutes in, with five unanswered majors with its fleet of midsized runners headed by the much improved Paddy Cross who kicked two in quick succession and livewire Ricky Mentha who also kicked an early goal. Leading the charge was recruit of the year, Riley Bonner while Bailey Laurie continued his impressive vein of form. With Tom Campbell missing from the lineup, Will Verrall stepped up to the plate demonstrating his improvement under the veteran ruckman’s tutelage. The Demons were looking comfortable for much of the second quarter and held a 25-point lead until the Bombers struck back with two goals in the shadows of half time. On the other side of the main break their revival continued with first three goals of the half. Harry Sharp, who had been quiet scrambled in the Demons’ first score of the third term to bring the margin back to a single point at the 17 minute mark and the game became an arm-wrestle for the remainder of the quarter and into the final moments of the last.

The Demons simply did not take their opportunities when they presented themselves and ultimately when down by 25 points effectively ending their finals chances. Goal kicking practice during the Bye?
