John Kanga part of the buy-in? Heard him last week on RSN not sounding supportive at all.

What’s he been saying?

Kanga says that Kanga would prefer it to be his beloved Pies and if not them then Kanga would prefer if everyone just said Kanga whenever they kanga because well kanga is the best and kanga......

Anyone who speaks about themselves in the 3rd person especially using their surname only is a complete .....head. hopefully his reign at MRC will be short-lived and the next guy will see the benefit of the Dees and elite training facilities using the wasteland

I’ll answer this as a paid Goal umpire in an association covering three leagues - we have running training (including sprinting) and use a ball machine to practice correct positioning to ensure alignment with ball trajectory and or when/if the ball fully crosses the line. Most umpires don’t turn up to training or games in their uniforms. Many have to change from School uniforms or work attire.

Not impressed by this introduction of actual facts Mr Anderson!!! Ongoing innuendo would have been sufficient!

I hate to spread bad news but when I walked around the caulfield racecourse on the weekend I saw at least 30 magpies.

I hope you shook your fist at them !

Kanga isn’t keen on anything which doesn’t have his name and head as the show piece of it.

The progress made is with the Racecourse Trust, Glen Eira Council and the school.

Does he have any power to make things difficult?

Thought he is just a tenant like we would be?

They are the main tenant and the driving force for the complex.

Don't underestimate the compromises they will ask for including a reduced ground rent or similar that we will need to make up.

I thought the rent was very low anyway.

Gov't has a requirement of a "commercial return" on assets. Included in that return in some instances is a "social return".

There's a lot of water yet to flow.

At a minimum we will need to pay for our share of the ground staff, car park etc etc. Then there is the rent on the admin building. Why would that be subsidised?

There is a saying in the industry.

When Kanga hops, everyone jumps.

Havent got a clue why it should be subsidised tbh.

The Caulfield Racecourse Reserve Trust (CRRT) manages all the Crown Land on the Caulfield Racecourse Reserve (CRR) which is about as far as the eye can see when you go to a race meeting. All the grandstands are part of the leasehold as they are on Crown Land. The CRR has a nominal value of $228 million.

The Melbourne Race Club leases a substantial part of the CRR from the CRRT for their racing activities. The MRC has a 65 year lease which started in 2018 for which they pay the massive amount of $333,000 per annum. And obviously the MRC have some running costs for maintaining the track.

The MFC plans to lease a small parcel of land from the CRRT on which our new headquarters will be built. (Whether this has extra facilities for other parties I do not know). This will require a new access road from Booran Rd. I assume the cost for building the HQ will be mostly the responsibility of the MFC. The 2 large training ovals and other facilities will also be for community use so funding should come from MFC, Glen Eira Council, CRRT, State and Federal Funds.

In terms of ongoing cost there will be annual rent which I assume would be no more than what the MRC is paying and our share of the maintenance of the ovals.

Source for this is the CRRT Annual Report, MFC Feasibility Study, Auditor Generals Office and my head.

Article in this morning’s Age about Richmond and it’s wealthy supporters.Mentions that the club will get $3o million from the state and federal govts to renovate their ground.

It's fine they were just lost. Don't belong in the area 🤣😜

Just watched Paul Guerra get interviewed on Footy classified. Eddie Maguire suggested that Caulfield will be pushed back by 12 months with the Mt Scopus work.

James Hird mentioned that Port Melbourne should be on the agenda and there's something that could be done there given Australia post have or are leaving the building next door to the ground. He might be onto something that needs a closer look - not against it if a total solution can be done there and caulfield is delayed or compromised

I may be mistaken but I was under the impression that Gary Pert is still involved in this project in the interim, is this correct?

If we were to change to Port Melb as prospective site, the delay would be more than 12 months.

Paul is certainly doing alot of media for someone who doesn't start until September.

Makes sense that he'd do a round of interviews while it's fresh news.

I'd be disappointed if we had to wait six months just to hear from him.

I'm still disappointed that we have to wait that long for him to actually start.

Why 12 months? If you are waiting for the new school to be built come back in at least 5 years. Could possibly be some common infrastructure that has to be co ordinated.

On another note the Glen Eira Council has negotiated with the CRRT to have full public access, the only exception being race day. (Which I thought what it was now only to find it was closed for training 2 weeks ago).

All the major decisions need to be made before September.

Sponsorships, players contracts, recruiting, coaching, financial planning, Senior Office bearers.

We will have 3 CE0, Perty, Chipper and Guerra, all carrying out different tasks, and 2 Presidents Brad and Smith, a lot of hand balling, during the holiday season.

It’s a big no from me, lots of Chinese burns and arm twisting going on.

Any major club decisions will include him. How long do you think it takes to discuss important matters? Even if we were to sack Goodwin, which if done this year would financially would be a terrible decision, do you seriously think he wouldn’t be involved? Do you think he can’t meet stakeholders before his official start date?
