Rode past Glenferrie on the train a few weeks back which was an opportunity to be reminded of what a rubbish venue it was and remains. Suitable for high school footy and not much else.

It has been neglected for a long time now.!!

This is a training venue. We are talking about practice.

If this were the NBA, teams would be paying us rent to play at the G.

You are talking about practice!

Practice.

Not the game. Not the game that I live and die for. Not the game.

We’re talking about practice.

As Yogi Berra said    "In theory there is no difference between theory and practice. In practice there is."

Jack Dyer claimed he was responsible for the longest ever kick in VFL history when he accidentally roosted one from the Glenferrie wing onto a passing goods train and the footy ended up in Lilydale.

I went to VFL GF at Carlton a few weeks ago and it reminded me how poor all the old VFL grounds were and Carlton was one of the better ones.

As Yogi Berra also said  "You've got to be very careful if you don't know where you are going, because you might not get there."

I have got to the point where it is all a bit of a joke MR.

WE are mushrooms!

Some days I feel 100 but back then we actually had a home.

Was just about to post the same thing.

Another $77 million dollar upgrade for Whitten Oval.

Here is the direct link to the news article: https://www.afl.com.au/news/864461/short-term-pain-long-term-gain-dogs-hq-to-be-transformed

It is humiliating that we are getting ignored as an AFL Club.

We need to get this sorted with our home training and administration base or the Melbourne Football Club will get left behind.

We have already been left behind.

But why Red?

The "squeaky wheel" gets the oil. Are we not squeaky enough? Is our profile not important enough?

I thought having contacts and getting funding etc was one of Roffey's strengths.

We appear to still be an irrelevant club.

I'm not having a crack at you here - I just don't get it.

The examples on this page are existing grounds with club history being re-developed. We haven't got that.  I get the frustration but our task is a lot harder, especially as our preference is being close to the CBD.

Was just about to post the same kind of thing.

Our problem is lack of land.

Me when they give us next update on our home base.

Its Been A Long Time Waiting GIF

It's been 2 or 3 years now where we keep getting told "there will be news on this soon". If there's nothing in the coming months I seriously doubt anything will come of it at all.

Only one way to find out what the hell is going on here is for all of us D'Landers bombard the club with a simple email. Quote " Will we get a home base in my lifetime" unquote. I'll send one in the morning.

  • REPORT: Brisbane

“Max Gawn has been the heart and soul of the Dees for years now, but this recent recovery from a terrible start has been driven by him. He was everywhere again, and with the game in the balance, he took several key marks to keep the ball in the Dees forward half.” - The Monday Knee Jerk Reaction: Round Ten Of course, it wasn’t the efforts of one man that caused this monumental upset, but rather the work of the coach and his assistants and the other 22 players who took the ground, notably the likes of Jake Melksham, Christian Petracca, Clayton Oliver and Kozzie Pickett but Max has been magnificent in taking ownership of his team and its welfare under the fire of a calamitous 0-5 start to the season. On Sunday, he provided the leadership that was needed to face up to the reigning premier and top of the ladder Brisbane Lions on their home turf and to prevail after a slow start, during which the hosts led by as much as 24 points in the second quarter. Titus O’Reily is normally comedic in his descriptions of the football but this time, he was being deadly serious. The Demons have come from a long way back and, although they still sit in the bottom third of the AFL pack, there’s a light at the end of the tunnel as they look to drive home the momentum inspired in the past four or five weeks by Max the Magnificent who was under such great pressure in those dark, early days of the season.

  • CASEY: Southport

The Southport Sharks came to Casey. They saw and they conquered a team with 16 AFL-listed players who, for the most part, wasted their time on the ground and failed to earn their keep. For the first half, the Sharks were kept in the game by the Demons’ poor use of the football, it’s disposal getting worse the closer the team got to its own goal and moreover, it got worse as the game progressed. Make no mistake, Casey was far and away the better team in the first half, it was winning the ruck duels through Tom Campbell’s solid performance but it was the scoreboard that told the story.

Just a game and percentage outside the Top 8, the Demons return to Melbourne to face the Sydney Swans at the MCG, with a golden opportunity to build on the momentum from toppling the reigning premiers on their own turf. Who comes in, and who makes way?
