Pity you’ve missed the last decade. In thatĀ period, we’veĀ won 3 flags, made anotherĀ grand final, and featured in 2Ā prelims. Missed the 8 only once - bad draw, and horrible run with injuries.

We’ve played truly dynamic football for most of thisĀ time. It was quite an incredible 11year period.Ā Without doubt, we’ve been the envy of the competition - other club officials and supporters haveĀ been praying for us to collapse on the basis of our remarkable success.

And yet, some here don’t seem to think we a lockĀ for the top 4 in 2020 ...

Ā

Wow that’s awesome!! How many brownlows haveĀ our number 1&2 picks, Scully & Trengove won between them? So happy we didn’t select that good for nothing Dustin Martin kid hey...

Is Cale Morton and that All Australian CHF Lucas Cook kid still playing??

Assume Burgess has been given the first call. His opinion will be critical.Ā

The Burgess/Bruckner factor looms large as the key to a successful season with getting 95% of our players on the park.

A fit andĀ full list will give depth and run and class plus versatility to the flanksĀ Ā wings and midfield.

The following are ABSOLUTELY musts in this regard viz.Ā

Hunt Vberg KK Bennell!! Langdon Tomlinson Petracca Salem Baker Lockhart Harmes Hibberd Jetta Sparrow Jordan Nitschke Wagner boys even Joel Smith Hannan Spargo new boy Haydn Young Jonesy Milkshake oh andĀ Ā Tommy MAC for a Wing burst at the start of the game!!Ā

Roll on 2020 the land of the superĀ fitĀ and brave Demons with resurrection on our minds!

And Ron’s been hitting the acid pretty hard.Ā

Scotch.

And acid of course.

It’sĀ been a great decade.

If signing Bennell is going to happen at all, is there a chance it'll happen today? Or is there still a lot of water to go under the bridge? A blow up two days ago has fizzled to nothing being reported at all. If he is going to be signed up, it sounds like other clubs have cooled.

His signing doesn't need to be done for ages he's going to be put in the same rookie rule that nabbed us Wagner and Lockhart.

I'm taking that as after effectively 5 years out ofĀ the game, a first seemingly successful surgery in July and a second (other leg) a month or so later,Ā  her will be back running in November, taking 6-7 months to slowly ramp to fitness, get some kms in the legs and a block of VFL under his belt.Ā

I really don't think that is a surprise.Ā

Imagine the value and spark he could add in the back half of the season coming into finals.Ā

Finals? You’re dreamin’

That's right, won't be able to play until the next DECADE!!!

We should get a farewell game out of himĀ

Damn you, I didn't know it had got to 50mill again and me not getting a ticket ?. Had to go check the numbers, phew jackpoted to 20 m next week. Accurate as ever Dieter or just lazy?

Neither, just metaphorical.

That's Santa Claus territory, yeah, Christmas is coming too...

With all the noise from Journo’s a few days ago I would’ve expected confirmation by now. Gossage, Ralph, Stevens and the other less well-known tweeters had it all but over the line, a matter of formality.Ā

Keep hopping there will be news soon? Or do we have to wait until draft night?

Ā

Bennell has probably decided to join us but the very professional AFL will make us wait 4 weeks to announce it on draft night for ratings.

JT said on the podcast Road to the Draft it would take a while to happen if it does. Lots of checks to be done.

I’ve only seen that mentioned on Demonland and nowhere else. (Unless I’ve missed something)

We definitely look to be considering small forwards in the pre season draft which makes me think they have others they'd like to consider in the draft

That accounts for your rapid mood swings particularly the rapid excitement and bold statements you are famous for.Ā

Now that could also describe the Donald.

Looking forward to more big statements Ron so kept up the magic cocktail.

I think we will need you inĀ 2020.

What confirmation are you actually looking for?

The latest I read was that he was invited to train with us starting December 3rd?

It's in his best interests to not train with anyone before that date to leave his options open at other clubs and be able to sign as a delisted free agent at any club.

  • REPORT: Port Adelaide

Of course, it’s not the backline, you might argue and you would probably be right. It’s the boot studder (do they still have them?), the midfield, the recruiting staff, the forward line, the kicking coach, the Board, the interchange bench, the supporters, the folk at Casey, the head coach and the club psychologistĀ  It’s all of them and all of us for having expectations that were sufficiently high to have believed three weeks ago that a restoration of the Melbourne team to a position where we might still be in contention for a finals berth when the time for the midseason bye arrived. Now let’s look at what happened over the period of time since Melbourne overwhelmedĀ the Sydney Swans at the MCG in late May when it kicked 8.2 to 5.3 in the final quarter (and that was after scoring 3.8 to two straight goals in the second term).Ā

  • CASEY: Essendon

Casey’s unbeaten run was extended for at least another fortnight after the Demons overran a persistent Essendon line up by 29 points at ETU Stadium in Port Melbourne last night. After conceding the first goal of the evening, Casey went on a scoring spree from about ten minutes in, with five unanswered majors with its fleet of midsized runners headed by the much improved Paddy Cross who kicked two in quick succession and livewire Ricky Mentha who also kicked an early goal. Leading the charge was recruit of the year, Riley Bonner while Bailey Laurie continued his impressive vein of form. With Tom Campbell missing from the lineup, Will Verrall stepped up to the plate demonstrating his improvement under the veteran ruckman’s tutelage. The Demons were looking comfortable for much of the second quarter and held a 25-point lead until the Bombers struck back with two goals in the shadows of half time. On the other side of the main break their revival continued with first three goals of the half. Harry Sharp, who had been quiet scrambled in the Demons’ first score of the third term to bring the margin back to a single point at the 17 minute mark and the game became an arm-wrestle for the remainder of the quarter and into the final moments of the last.
