No surprises here to my fellow MFCSS sufferers.

The team with the worst after the siren record is...? ?

? | Which AFL club is has had the most success in after the siren results in history?

The Dees have been in 12 games decided after the siren and have only won two, lost 9 and drawn 1. Additionally we have never kicked a goal after the siren to win a game.

Classic stuff, we are 1 of 2 clubs to be beaten after the siren by a former player. At least it was The Wiz.

Ohhhhhh Why is it so???

I think we top another, longest time since last flag for current year.

Was at that game and could see Neiter lining him up ready to lay a bone crunching tackle. Was right behind the goal at the City end and Wiz's kick off the boot was offline but veered left and sailed through.

Trent Croad played one good game for Freo and this was it he kicked 7

They really love delving deep into the stats these days.

I can't wait for us to win the 'worst water pressure in the showers after the game' gong in a few months time.

That one felt like a loss.

I walked out of that game livid despite actually getting 4 points.

I should've been doing cartwheels considering we'd go on to win a whopping 2 of the next 14 games.

This stat doesn’t surprise me at all.

It should also be a $50 fine to anyone who even mouths the scenario of Jack Watts kicking one after the siren to beat us even if just a joke.

1987 - managed to lose to North Melbourne during the season when Alistair Clarkson, in his first season kicked the winner after the siren.  Then the one no Demon will ever forget - the Prelim final.

When Clarkson kicked that goal, the roar in the old Southern Stand at the G was deafening. Loudest roar I have ever heard. Will never forget.

And yes, the Prelim brought us all to tears.

It was nip and tuck all game Pennant. I remember the game shouldn’t have gotten to that point. Stephen Powell had a shocking miss late in the game. From memory it would have put us by a couple of kicks but he rushed the shot from 20m out and I think he missed the lot.

For those that can see past the pay wall, how many times have we had the opportunity to win it after the siren? I'm sure it hasn't happened in the entire time I've followed the Dees, though we've had some close ones like with Maxy in 2018 ?.

Was Weids miss after the siren?

It doesn’t actually say how many times we’ve had the opportunity Pates. I can only think of 2. The game you speak of, where Hunt had a shot from about 70 out and the Weid miss last year as Fork ‘em mentions above.

I can't remember Hunt's shot, I'd actually blocked out Weid's miss last year (though like Max not after the siren). Sam's miss there just typified how putrid and depressing our season really was.

Even though there was only 17,108 in attendance?

Must have been all North supporters and all in the top tier of the Southern Stand ?

  • 2025 Player Reviews: #42 Aidan Johnson

The VFL premiership player was recruited from Werribee to alleviate Melbourne’s forward line woes and give a chop out in the ruck, but he managed only five senior matches in his first season at the club. At times, he was a dominant force at VFL level.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: #44 Luker Kentfield

An exciting young key forward, Kentfield was selected in the 2024 mid-season draft but has yet to make his AFL debut. He was sidelined by a severe bout of pneumonia over the summer, which consequently limited his pre-season. Upon his return a month into the season, he commenced in defence but ultimately impressed with his progress at Casey, particularly in the latter part of the season as a strong marking goal kicking forward.

  • AFLW REPORT: West Coast

Melbourne’s response to last week’s heartbreak was emphatic, as the Demons delivered a statement win over West Coast at a windswept Casey Fields. All of the pre-match hype surrounded the coach’s box matchup of Mick Stinear up against his apprentice, Daisy Pearce along with the gloomy weather forecast. In the end, it was less about tactical chess and more about Melbourne’s relentless execution. With rain looming, the DeeArmy and early birds snapped up the best undercover viewing spots.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: West Coast

Epic battle alert.  This Sunday, Casey Fields hosts a coach’s showdown pitting the wits of the master Mick Stinear (92 games, 71.7% win rate) against his protégé Daisy Pearce (16 games, 43.8%). Still early in her coaching journey, Daisy’s record doesn’t yet reflect her impact — but she’s already the best-performed coach at West Coast.Dais’ is mythic.  Like Katniss Everdeen, everyone either wants to kiss her, kill her (sporting metaphor) or be her.  Toothers Daisy Pearce is a role model, someone admired for their heart, humility and humour.

  • AFLW REPORT: Port Adelaide

Well, that was a shock. The Demons 4-game unbeaten run came to a grinding halt in a tense, scrappy affair at the sunny, windy Alberton Oval, with the Power holding on for a 2-point win. The Dees had their chances—plenty of them—but couldn't convert when it mattered most. Port’s tackling pressure rattled the Dees, triggering a fumble frenzy and surprising lack of composure from seasoned players.
