Great get guys! Well done!

Love to hear more from him about Sparrow and Jordon if possible, maybe even Bradtke.

First two (and Nietschke) are on the list of questions but I forgot about Bradtke. Interesting to see where he stands given the drafting of Jackson.

Please ask if we would have gone for Anderson if GCS didn’t get the priority pick? Also if we were close to bidding on Green and whether GWS snookered us by moving to pick 4?

If you get the chance i’d be interested to know if they take into consideration the “go home factor” on a player by player basis if at all.

How does he and Mahons work in relation to picks? Taylor rates this years draft better than next, “hey Josh get me as many low picks as you can this year!” Does that happen?

Since he came to the club is there a player or 2 he was uhming and ahhing about and chose a different player that he now regrets not taking?

Any players we were going to pick but just got pipped on by another club that he’d love to have at Dees?

Questions:

Can he give us a rundown on who the demons might have coming up as potential academy picks (or whatever they're called)? There are clubs that seem to be dripping with options and others (like us who have very few). Can he clarify our (NT) zone in this regard and has any of it been lost to GCS. I believe we have the Alice Springs area but is that the extent of it?

Can he also talk about father-sons coming up in the next few years? Is Jeff White's son automatically tied to GCS with these new gift rules or can he still come to us (assuming he makes the AFL grade)?

What is the departmental structure now that T Viney is behind a tractor? Who's the list manager etc?

Cheers

Considering we took three interstaters in the draft, I’d like to know how much ‘flight risk’ or ‘return home’ factor they take into consideration? I’m assuming a straight bat answer by JT might be played here and clubs like to back themselves in but to be fair dinkum - does this not rank highly in the selection process?

It might be too specific, but I'd love to hear his thoughts about Pickett vs Weightman.

I'd also be interested to hear about:

- science vs stats vs gut feel when it comes to drafting. Are certain stats non negotiable or very strong lead indicators? How strongly is biometric information considered? Ie expected height based on family data?

- draft night process. Do we rate all players in the draft in order then pick the highest available? Do we rate groups of players collectively so that we can pick sliders? Who makes the call to trade live picks vs draft what is available?

In the interview with Cal Twomey he said because of where we looked like finishing he sat on some junior players quite closely towards the end of the year. Can you ask if Jackson and Pickett were two of those players?

Kobe Farmer.

Also Kalani White (the other Jeff's son). Probably still a few years off but would be interesting to know if Father Son trumps Gold Coast's academy zone selection. Knowing the AFL they will most likely change the rules if he is looking like a gun.

All irrelevant really Tony

Why did you turn left at the last intersection. It's Donecandcdusted deal with the

 result now!

I'd like to ask him who he expects to jump out of the pack this year and surprise.  Also, where is Petty pencilled in to play.

Some really good questions suggested here, mine are mundane.....

Asking about NGA prospects for next year would be good. Kobi George and Deakyn Smith I am aware of, but are there others?

Just to finish with a trivial one:

Daisy Pearce has had twins, a girl and a boy.

If both of them turn out to be potential AFL players, what is their eligibility to play for MFC as Mother son/daughter?

If you're referring to this season, Goodwin said he will play forward in his interview with SEN.

Thank you. We did it 2 years ago and I was planning on doing it again last year but then the opportunity to interview Josh Mahoney came up.

Daisy said on SEN last year when they were born that she needs to play 50 AFLW games.

Seems a bit rich when they only played about 8 games last season.

They should lower it to 25 or 30 if they are only going to play just over a handful of games a year.

  • NON-MFC: 2026 Opening Round

Finally the 2026 AFL Premiership Season is upon us. While Melbourne sits out Opening Round, there is still plenty of footy to enjoy with five non-MFC clashes to kick off the new season. It all begins on Thursday night with a blockbuster at the SCG as Sydney hosts Carlton in what should be a strong early test for both sides. On Friday night, Gold Coast gets its chance to open the season in front of a home crowd when the Suns and Christian Petracca take on Geelong at People First Stadium. Saturday features a double-header, starting in the afternoon with Greater Western Sydney and Clayton Oliver meeting the Hawks at Engie Stadium. That is followed on Saturday night by Brisbane Lions hosting the Western Bulldogs at the Gabba, with the Lions embarking on their campaign to win the Threepeat. Opening Round wraps up on Sunday night at the MCG, where St Kilda takes on Collingwood in the only game in town in the first week of the season. There is no shortage of storylines across the round, so discuss all the action from the non-MFC games of Opening Round.
