Is Tom Sparrow exclusively an inside mid?

Trying to workout how he gets  into the team if we have most of our first choice mids available

Harmes is being moved to half back (why I don’t know) and I assume Jones will play less time as an inside mid. I just assumed that Sparrow will play a few games this year and ‘replace’ Jones in 2021 when we win the flag.

Since we drafted Finlayson and Langdon specifically to play on the wing, it might get very crowded there with Sparrow.

Sparrows have only small wings...

You better do some homework in the off-season.

Weid looks big and strong,  finally.

Definately stood out looks much bigger. Hopefully putting in the work on the legs as well. More important to have a strong legs and core to hold your ground. Good signs though

indeed he looks surprisingly big. reminds me of when Frawley piled it on one pre-season then became an All Australian. lets hope its a sign, as half his problem is being pushed off too easily.

Perhaps Saty is right and to observe a full session we should get there at 4.30 am.

If Whispering is right, we will need some punters to be camping out there.

Just to be safe you better get there an hour early at 3:30am.

Surprised players are getting away with using body momentum to work out their biceps & triceps. Lot of effort for minimal gain.

Agree Chief Very poor form in my opinion!

To be fair, he is in the middle of a weights session and would/should appear to be pretty swole. I know I wish I could remain the size I grow to after an hour of smashing weights.

Still, I’m liking what I’m seeing and confident Sam will be a bigger and stronger lad next season.

The key reason most bigs take longer to develop is that strength is a more important factor for them than it is for mids, flanked, wingers etc.

As I understand it men might get to their full height at say 20-21 but continue to fill out up to 25 or so. For a big like weed, who in some ways plays like a traditional forward that is a big factor. Bigger than say a more mobile forward like hipwood.

Hawkins is a good comparison for weed I reckon. Took time to establish himself but once he got to his mid twenties became very formidable to play against.

Big 12 months for Sammy.

In actual fact I believe young Weide is starting to resemble father Murray with the weight snd growth leaving his teens and early 20's behind.

Good signs as he really looks more like a key position player and not to be taken lightly by defenders any more.

2020 will produce some surprising development in the careers of Weide Trac Angus Lever Fritsch plus Sparrow Jordan Lockhart and Dunkley and Pruess.

Add all our seniors inc. May being much fitter and able to play out a full game and the newbies Langdon Tomlinson Bennell (last half) plus Picks 3 and 8 snd 2 PSD pick give a much stronger list than  2019 would appear to produce.

2020 could be a surprise to us all if Half glass full eventuates in fitness and development and attitude.

The promising thing is that he appears to have filled out his frame and has bulked up; rather than looking ‘cut’ or ‘ripped’.

I agree, often we get carried away with the bulging muscles and veins we see in these preseason clips; but Weid’s starting to look like a man now.

Fingers crossed.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
